Exactly. Everything in the video was in the trailers back when it was called Rayman 4 Raving Rabbids. It was a huge disappointment back then to hear Rayman 4 RR, became just Rayman RR and it was just a minigame compilation. The disappointment is even bigger now, knowing that they actually made a Rayman 4 platformer, which they scrapped 😵
Imagine if rayman 4 actually released? The rabbids may not have taken over the franchise. That would be a cool timeline. They stay as threatening villains instead of degrading to “funny fart haha lol xd😂😂😂😂😂😂”. And we would keep getting consistently good rayman games.

Loved the environments and art style that game used to do this, too, I still think about the contrast. Some of the levels really went for the spooky, too, which felt amazing navigating it as a whimsically bright and bold cartoon man
Loved that transition to the forest at the end. It's an excellent contrast going from the bleak claustrophobia of the temple to the open tranquility of the woods. I know that was all video editing magic, but it would've made for a fantastic opening lol. It really sparks the imagination and made me wished that Ubisoft stuck with their original vision
If the Wii was revealed like around 2008, they would’ve gotten the time to build it on the PS2 and 6th Gen consoles. And Ubisoft Paris would’ve kickstarted the Rabbids franchise and made the party game’s exclusively to the Wii at the launch title.
Blame Ubisoft and Nintendo. The dev's ambition was doomed from the start, being given the time and constraints they were. Reminds me of Fallout New Vegas. If it wasn't for the hardware limitations, timeframe, and engine bugs Bethesda's engine is notorious for, it would've been *the* definitive modern Fallout entry. Instead, it's an incredible concept and writing endeavor doomed with a LOT placed into the cutting room floor🙃
It was mostly a time issue. The team was making Rayman 4 for PS2 when Ubi told them they had to make it a Wii exclusive and use the motion controls. This basically killed the game's momentum and eventually they (either the team or Ubisoft) made the decision to turn it into a cheap party game with what was already done. This caused Michel Ancel (creator of Rayman series) to leave the team and Ubisoft.

It is not just me, there are a lot of people dedicated to restoring and adding things to the game to make it the best it can be, i am just a part of that and upload videos of the things that we found and are fixing
Keep in mind this is a prototype. Imagine had Ubisoft not had the Wii changed their plans fast. We could have got the Breath of the Wild or Sonic Frontiers for Rayman 4 but years before those games. DAMN

From what you've seen in the prototype, how far along do you think Rayman 4 got in development before it was scrapped in favor of the minigame collection? It looks at least 30-40% finished to me, but I'm far from a game development expert!
From all the behind the scenes and interviews, and with the leaked prototype build, it’s like only 25 percent of it is finished. 75 percent of it was retooled for the Wii’s Motion Controls to fit the Party Game aesthetic.

For as fluid as the prototype is, there would need to be a lot of optimization (read: long loading screens) done to run even tiny chunks of this on Wii hardware. If Ubisoft were aiming for 360/PS3 specs, I could *maybe* see it panning out better.
Will the modding community provide a way for the casual players to experience these levels themselves? I tried opening the level editor but unfortunately it's far too complex for me LOL, I see you got the costume transformations working as well
They should remake this game, but with different enemies instead of rabbids (since there reputation is as funny slapstick characters theses days), also maybe make the animals look more rayman-ish instead of based in realism. I mean like they looked in rayman 2 and 3, you know like that big purple whale or those turtles walking around.
I think the Rabbids have potential as being serious/goofy enemies for Rayman to fight. Just because their reputation has dampened since their normal inception, doesn’t mean all the unique proto designs and other stuff they have, should be put to waste.
Is it possible to create assets and custom maps within the Jade Engine and Source Code? I know the engine is old as hell, especially it was built around 1999, because I’d hope we get some amazing custom maps for the RRR retail and prototype with an restoration mod.

I Wonder if they tool inspiration from Rayman 4.1's (phoenix studios version) Time Palace or whatever the name was. With all the cogs and mechanic sounds, it defenetly looks like a reworked, darker version of that level
I definitely miss Rayman when it gets more moody with the atmosphere. It's a big reason I am so confused as to why Rayman 2 exists alongside the other, more zany titles. Not really saying it should always be that way. But this and Rayman 2 are really what I like the look for in terms of Rayman.

This game does kind of still live on in the DS and GBA ports but yeah... feels like a waste just throwing all this out. Still Raving Rabbids 2 was admittedly a large part of my childhood.

On the other hand: Raving Rabbids and its success later led to the Mario+Rabbids series.
The Mario crossover could still have happened as it solely took the rabbits, not the minigame gameplay. The rabbits were in this game too

How did you manage to run the game? I downloaded the files but I'm not sure what to do.
You need to open the "run game" shortcut

So weird question but is this level one of the levels that is in the menu but doesn’t work? Or is this just in the files and not in the menu?

It is a bit hard with original leaked files, we have modified and patched a few files for us to be able to fix things up and access these
