For a game that clearly had a least another year of development to go (and probably more than that), this looks shockingly playable. I presume a fair amount of code was brought in from Rayman 3 to expedite testing. It's a shame this was turned down in favor of a quick, cheap launch title, but maybe something good can come of this.
Ok, a couple of Interesting facts here : The forest in which this Rabbid secret base is located may look familiar to some. It's because this place could be seen in the unlockable artworks of Rayman Raving Rabbids (the mini game collection i mean) This confirms a hunch i've had for a decade : at least some of the stuff in said artworks was from the prototype. The on rail shooting level "Bunnies aren't scared of the Dark" looks very similar to this leaked level : the round metal Doors, the Red buttons, the blue energy fields, the floor, the tube-shaped hallways.... It's either a reworked version of this leaked level, or another level that was planned for the prototype that the devs reworked for the party game
One thing that really interests me is the way Ray was animated in this game. It almost feels like mocap, yet in reality it's been entirely animated by hand. Makes me even more sad how so many of those animations have gone to waste after Ubi changed direction during development.
This is crazy, it's finally the moment we get to see some more gameplay of these builds for RRR, I wish we had gotten this instead of the minigame collection
the purple character in the cage looks very similar to the creatures you get from lucky tickets in Rayman Legends. Crazy to think that they used concepts all the way back from the Rayman 4 prototype in the more recent Rayman games, and we didn't even know it because we didn't have access to the prototype before. The underwater stealth levels in Rayman Legends were probably inspired by this as well!
the most interesting thing is that this setting has been kept for Rayman Raving Rabbids for Java mobile phones. It pleases, and also displeases, to think that many things from Rayman 4 and RRR have been retained for secondary titles.
I love the ideas from this prototype, it reminds me of Rayman 2 with the physics and "systemic system" for the part where you have to put lots of balls on the ground to rise the level to the next floor, same with the robots you have to carry and make explose near a door to open it. Maps looks insanely huge and some are really beautiful, i can't imagine how crazy the exploration would have been.

Oh damn, this is huge! I thought this was a lost cause but someone took time to rip this and send it to the public. Now we can actually make our own Rayman 4.
Let’s hope all the source code and assets are compatible with the retail build, so that fans can rebuild the Rayman 4. Also, you should look at the making the Rabbid video to recreate some of the Rabbids models that were seen, but ones like too fat and too hairy for example.
@@jpuc5568 Well, it’s an old engine from 2004… But if you see Duke Forever being restored, then it’s possible. But given the crease and desist… can understand
That seems kind of unnecessary. I'd look at all the assets, and instead try to rebuild everything in Lumen. Not only is it a million billion gazillion times easier, but it also means far more polish.
If the Rabbids are Mario's acquaintances and have turned into heroes, it would be nice if they remade this with killer freaks, who were also canceled, as villains.
Considering Rabbids are now a different property, the chances of them returning like this are almost zero. The zombie-like appearance was pretty cool tho.
2:43 Realized it here and now i can definitely see how Ubisoft thought this game would be too much fun going this direction, makes total sense that they’d nerf it into a party game 🙃
I could really see this game having a beat em up type combat system while having a 3rd person over the shoulder typr shooter experience for stuff like his fists and the guns he can pick up. So when your shooting your fists it locks onto the target and it would either work like it normally did for 3 where you tilt the movement joystick left or right to curve shot or make it where the target lock locks the camera to the enemy till dead or till you hit the target button again, so then using the other joystick will instead determine left or right curve shots
As a Rayman fan back in the day, I think this game suddenly being changed into what it eventually became is one of the saddest events of the gaming industry! What a damn shame. Seeing this prototype game makes it even worse.
