I'm not sure I'd have picked this sequence to show off the movie though, since the density of corny lines is rather high - I'm all about the bar scene, which still has a few, but counters them well - the street motorball scene also has a nice prelude to her training kicking in, and it helps that the game becomes more important later in the movie.

Anyways for me the Alleyscene is the key moment of Alita´s awakening. I was at the edge of my seat when she charges in and fights them head on. No fear. I wasn´t prepared for so much awesomeness. And the moon scene is the icing on the cake. The two scenes shown are great to show the heart and the action of this movie.
No problem, the dvds/brs sales will make enough money to pay for the sequel. Not to mention that the sequel will be less costly than the original movie because Robert Rodriguez will reuuse the sets which have already been built (especially the motorball sets.).

At 5:30 I LOVE the misdirection of Ido saying "Alita RUN" and you get a shot of her feet running and the think she's running away until you see the Mantis girl's reaction to Alita running TOWARDS the violence. Awesome editing and shot composition to trick you😉
I loved that, too. It's not really outright deceiving you, either, just a camera angle from the opposite side that tricks you after Ido yelled for her to run.
Even better is the stunned look on Romo’s face when he sees Alita flying through the air toward him. I’ve seen the movie 30 times in theaters and this is the first time I caught that!
I've watched this film on Tuesday and now it's my favourite film. I regret that I did not watch this movie in the cinema because it turned out to be really good.
You got to see it on the biggest screen possible, it's a beautiful and the action is glorious! Also we need all the sales we can get for there to be a Part 2 xD

This is my favorite movie of all time. Its a father daughter movie. A mother daughter movie. Its a love story. Its a story of seeing the world with new eyes. Its got a strong female lead without emasculating men. Rosa Is just perfect in this movie and we need a sequel.

The fact that Alita is ORIGINAL Sci-Fi of something that is NOT Star Wars or Star Trek or Marvel or DC. That alone would make it more interesting than any other movie release this year! Even though the Manga in various forms has been coming out since the early 90s (making this almost a 30 yr old "franchise" itself) this will likely be the first time many new fans will see Alita. And believe me - as a fan reading the manga since back then - this movie is very nearly the perfect distillation of the early parts of the story. Yes there's most definitely more to this even if a second film doesn't get made (Hoping it will). If you're interested, the manga in all its forms is still available to find. Incredibly good read. Amazing world building. It's FAR more than the Blade Runner pastiche these early chapters (and the movie) appear to be. That's only one VERY small part of this world. There's a whole solar system out there filled with bizarre places and people that the manga has already visited in the 25-30 years the Manga artist and author Yukita Kishiro has been making this. (And this guy has a very creative - sometimes TWISTED - imagination! - He plays around with ideas like the singularity and with total brain augmentation or even replacement. There's people in his world with cyborg bodies and human brains. And possibly the even more bizarre concept of people with totally organic bodies - except for a computer CHIP that's replaced their brain. And most of them don't even know it!) Look for the title "Battle Angel Alita" (slight turn-around on the name) or if you want to hunt down the original Japanese manga (translated by fans) look for the original title "Gunnm".
I was cringing through a lot of the reviews that claimed "This has been done many times before..." not realizing that much of these familiar moments were probably copied from Gunnm over the past 30 years. They were bringing up similarities to movies that come out within the past few years apparently unaware that the manga is almost 3 decades old.

ordered the limited ed steelbook, have a 4k TV but got no 4k/UHD blueray player (only some old dvd player) :O will however upgrade my player when this move comes in the mail :)
That's what I did with 3D. Now I have a 4k/3D TV but not the new ones with hdr and Dolby + OLED. I'll wait for cheaper 8k sets to upgrade. Plus I have a subpar 4k player in the x1x but will get a real one eventually..
Alita definitely my most favourite movie. It even replaced Tron Legacy from the #1 spot for me. Also I can highly recommend the Mangas. They don't spoil you but add valuable depth to the world.

Less creepy in the movie. But other things change. Take a look into the bonus material from the digital. Dont buy from Amazon. They don't give you all bonus materials. Not even half of it. But ITunes has everything. The World of Alita - series are very insightful. Especially about the fall.

Like I said in another comment on another video, the hidden beauty of this movie is that it's such a well-done example of how to do an adaptation justice--it's not slavishly devoted to mimicking the original, nor does it take a single deviation from the source material (including the OVA) that doesn't t least feel calculated in some way or another. At the absolute very least, the movie is probably the best gateway into Alita/Gunnm 'verse to date!
They have to condense and shift a lot to turn a +2000-page series into a few 2-hour movies, but even so it's shockingly loyal to the source material. It's very similar to The Lord of the Rings adaptation in that it was immediately obvious the authors had a deep understanding and appreciation of the characters and story.
I have watched this movie from the beginning to the end simply to witness the best movie ever made ,and that I hope there will be the next episode which may continue after this scene.

Like I said in another comment on another video, the hidden beauty of this movie is that it's such a well-done example of how to do an adaptation justice--it's not slavishly devoted to mimicking the original, nor does it take a single deviation from the source material (including the OVA) that doesn't t least feel calculated in some way or another. At the absolute very least, the movie is probably the best gateway into Alita/Gunnm 'verse to date!

I have no history with ABA or manga but I loved this movie right away. Its such a great story and done so well. We need a sequel.
They have to condense and shift a lot to turn a +2000-page series into a few 2-hour movies, but even so it's shockingly loyal to the source material. It's very similar to The Lord of the Rings adaptation in that it was immediately obvious the authors had a deep understanding and appreciation of the characters and story.
This has been the longest wait of my life to get my hands on my 4K, if this film, watching that has made it that much harder, thank you all the same.
