1:37 The witch on that portrait is probably Wendelin the weird. She was a witch in the 14th century and she is known for burning at the stake multiple times. First time they caught her she used a flame freezing charm which made the flames harmless, all she felt was a gentle tickling sensation. Wendelin enjoyed being burned so much that she allowed herself to be caught no less than 47 times in various disguises. In the early HP games you were able to collect her wizard card.

Mmhm, and in Hogwarts Mystery you can collect her chocolate frog card, and in History of Magic you learn of her.

Pretty sure the ‘cat’ in the trailer isn’t a cat, but a kneazle. It bears a decent resemblance to how kneazles are described, particularly Crookshanks, who’s half kneazle.

Yes Crookshanks was a Halfkneazle. Kneazles are known to see when someone is lying, which is why Crookshanks always tried to capture Scabbers (Wurmtail). In the books he also protected Sirius.

I don't have to agree with an artist to like what they put out creatively if it's genuinely good. Michael Jackson is a prime example: he led an eccentric personal life, but I still liked his music. Mozart was weird too, but yet he was a musical genius. I'm still going to buy this game, period.

I think in this case people would most likely want to boycott because they wouldn't want to financially support someone they have strong views against. However, JK Rowling is already ungodly rich and the royalties she'll get from this game will most likely not even be noticable for her.
@@rhaenyralikesyoutube6289 I don't think Michael Jackson and Mozart are good comparisons to JKR. They weren't so hateful to a minority. MJ was leading an "eccentric personal life" because of his childhood abuse and he liked kids. Mozart was not weird either, he also had a controlling father who forced him to work in the "music industry" of the day and later in life, seemed to be "childish in demeanor and the ways he spent his money" (childish and petty e.g. when he composed a song specifically for the purpose of seeing this pianist, Adriana Ferrarese del Bene, he disliked so much, that he wrote a song for her to perform that had lots of jumps from low to high "bobbing her head like a chicken" on stage because she was known for nodding her head down on low notes and raising her head on high notes). Comparing a hateful person that's actively trying to not give human rights to a minority to geniuses of their field is insulting. But I do agree with the sentiment, just didn't like the examples because they don't make sense as examples to me
according to the books, the hour glasses with the gems for the house points are not in the great hall, but in the entrance hall. so they'll probably be there in the game

IMO the glitches apparent in the troll coming through the wall shot are pretty significant, and the student pop in could be bad if it happens a lot, but mild clipping and vaguely moving robes are fine to have in the finished game, I’ve seen plenty of games finished with stuff like that, never bothers me
And they have about 8 months to fix it, i think it will be good when they release it.
Yeah, minor clipping isn't a big deal at all. The robes do that funky lumping a TON though, and that's just in what they chose to show for the reveal. That kinda needs to be fixed.
Speaking of Headless Nick ... Do you reckon they'll be Nicholas Flammel ? The maker of the Philosopher's Stone ?
The wand waving has some clunkiness too. When you duel the slytherin student, after you spin around on the final attack, the wand is aiming sideways at the teacher. The one thing I really want them to nail in this game, is the dueling. So I hope they smoothen that out a bit before release.
It’s almost like there’s 8 months still release. Wait until it comes out. Then if you don’t like it just don’t fucking buy it. No one has a gun to your head
As a fan of medieval history, I love how the armor stands are modelled after real, historically accurate 15th/16th century armor. Too many games skimp over details like these and opt for generalized or exaggerated, almost fantasy-like designs formed by historical misconceptions. If they put this much effort into such a small detail like this, I can't wait to see what they'll do for the main elements of the game.

Dumbledore will be 9 years old in 1890
The "Rhino" skeleton is an Erumpent (originally I thought Graphorn, but that is not what they look like). And the fact that there is a portal that shows Gringotts, tells me that we will take the portal to Gringotts, and not go through Diagon Alley to get to Gringotts. I have a feeling we won't be able to go into Diagon Alley in this game.
You missed "Care of Magical Creatures" as one of the classes, I think. There was a scene where a large Beast (Graphorn, I think?) was being brushed, and the player was controlling the brush. I think that might be part of a Care of Magical Creatures class.
Also, thank you for your last point. Boycotting this game only harms those who put their HARD and wonderful work into a game SO MANY have been waiting for!
I also thought it was an Erumpent, but Erumpent's have one horn, while the skeleton has 2. And I really don't think that wall that we saw Gringotts through is a portal, but maybe. And yeah, I forgot care of magical creatures cause it wasn't visually shown so it didn't stick in my mind.

Great to hear! My goal with this video was to make sure we got everything we could out of the gameplay reveal, so if you learned something new, this video is a success.
As long as the gameplay mechanics are fun, a few missing details aren't a problem. It happened when I was playing Skyrim, there were lots of bugs but the playing experience just got more fun and FUN
Yeah, and they've got a few months at least to clean things up.
Non clipping capes have to be the hardest thing to make in a game as I've never seen a game where they worked properly.

I didn't notice other bugs you did though, like appearing students etc. Hopefully they gonna fix it. I don't know their games, but most of them I see is they are Disney friendly company. I'm not sure how they gonna cook Hogwarts Legacy and as much as I'd love to buy it instantly, just because of that I'll have to wait for some 'before you buy' video.

Someone noticed what looks like house points hourglasses in a later shot in the marble staircase, very subtlety in the dark in the background - so it seems they’re in the hall outside the great hall

I think that wall/mirror thing where you can see gringots is a teleport, diagon ally may not be in the game, but i of course hope it is!
It might be a portal, I've heard people say this. I have my doubts as to that, it just doesn't give me portal vibes, but maybe!

I actually thought it was a plain video at first but the more I watched the more I found out about things I haven't noticed. Especially the seasonal events, Xmas, Halloween, etc ... I was just talking about it 2 days ago and saying how much I want to see that added in the game just like Bully!

For another missable glitch, when the shot goes inside the great hall, look to the first middle left table to see a student glitch back into position.
Wouldn't it be cool to have different ways of answering NPCs in conversations, which would be the basis for the Sorting Hat's sorting of the player character?
Or are personality/character traits even the basis in the books/movies?
The sorting is about your values, not your abilities.
11:13 The Hebridean Black is supposed to have purple eyes with rough scales and bat-like wings, with an arrow shaped tail and ridges along its back. They're also supposed to have horns that go upward and away from its face 🐉
Yo 1890 is 2 years before Dumbledore went to Hogwarts! So there is at least a .001% chance of seeing Dumbledore as a first-year by the end of the game. If the game takes place over a couple of years, it could happen.
Maybe, I have a feeling though that they might leave the later years for a sequel. Honestly either one I'd be happy with.
My detail that I noticed is that in the secret tunnel-dungeon scene in the beginning, where he must pull the other side to himself to form a bridge, he uses accio instead of carpe retractum :3
He uses accio a lot in the gameplay reveal lol.
@@iconicqxeen yeah but only that instance (and when the narrator is talking about uncovering secret hallways and the protagonist uses a spell on a painting to reveal one, pretty sure he's using accio when he's supposed to be using carpe retractum as well) but otherwise, I see no other issues with his accio usage
Edit: In the lesson outside in the courtyard he's using accio to pull the ball towards him, that also should be carpe retractum but it seems they mashed these spells together because they aren't important enough to be on their own? in that case, not a problem at all. There must be a limited number of "spell slots" possible or to make it more coherent with less spells because it'd be quite difficult to keep switching between spells?
Two things to keep in mind about the bugs. First is that the gameplay says that some camera angles ]have been changed to the trailer so they may only be bugs because in the final game the camera will be pointing in another direction. Secondly with the missing walls that may be a feature if something happened to destroy the building earlier in the game.
Yeah that's true with the camera angles, but with the buildings, you can see the windows and doors hanging in mid air.

maybe it's some kind of honorary robes? They did talk about how "You" are a pretty big deal when arriving at hogwarts.

ngl I'm so happy there isn't a multiplayer feature. Every multiplayer option game I've played pressures you into using the feature. Multiplayer would also mean constant maintenence (and bugs, glitching, game crashes, etc) of the entire game for one feature that most people won't even use. People themselve can also ruin the social aspect by being complete jerks. It's really for the better imo

At 11:14 in slow mo I personally read our character (the player's) lips say "enough lies" when speaking to Victor Rookwood the dark wizard in Hogsmead. (As seen in the game play trailer)

I wonder if we get to pick or house or if it is chosen for us after a few dialogue choices. Also wondering if we get unique wands to match our character that we keep though-out the game or if they are going to be interchangeable equipment/loot that we acquire.
I'd guess we get the final say as to which house we get in. I bet that it will suggest a house, like how the Sorting Hat suggested Slytherin for Harry, but then we get to agree or give our preference. The preference will probably be our house. There would be nothing worse then getting into a house we don't like right off the bat.

The main song used was "Pie or Strudel" from the Fantastic Beasts soundtrack. Thats the main song I use in all my videos these days. The secondary song used was "Newt and Jacob Pack" from The Crimes of Grindelwald soundtrack.

There is a point system for house cup hidden past in one of the stairs scene
So @Lam0rak said that there is a possibility that the hogwarts express is in the game and that due to the seasons mechanic (winter etc) we may have possibility only 1 year at hogwarts. However if you notice the date on the newspaper is 1 sep. 1890. 1sep is the date in which hogwarts's term begins, so this means that we either go to hogwarts with professor figg and he shows us the newspaper and so if we have only 1 year we may not even see hogwarts express or this arrival at hogwarts does not happen in our first year, hence indicating that we may do 3 years at hogwarts
Possibly, but it's possible that we might see the Hogwarts Express in some other context as well.

Why would you want multi-player? I cannot stand that mechanic and I'm glad to see it not in the game.
Yeah public multiplayer could defiantly get toxic quick. Imagine player bunny hopping across the tables in the great hall :D But also image you and your best friend exploring Hogwarts together. Private multiplayer could be pretty great.
If you pause on the gringotts shot, he doesn’t seem to be wearing hogwarts robes. I think this is more evidence towards diagon alley
guy seems kinda whiney and needlessly negative about unfinished stuff in what is known to be a work in progress. modern games are crazy complex, cut them some slack
I didn't mean to sound that way, It's just something I noticed that I was pointing out. I 100% understand they have a few months left to clean everything up.
I haven't heard a single person talk about the fact that there are multiple ethnicities and accents throughout the trailer. That means Hogwarts is accepting students who are not from the UK. I don't know how relevant it will end up being, but I think it's cool nonetheless. I'm curious as to what happened, though, to change Hogwarts' staff's mind about allowing students from elsewhere.
If you look closely at the map they revealed, u can see numbers identifying sectors of the map. It ranges from 6-6 to 6-4 horizontaly, and 6-6 to 5-6 verticaly. 6-6 seem to be the upper left corner of the map and indicates that the map will contain 6*6 sectors, or 36 squares of land and ocean.
If what they showed only contained content within the area of the revealed map. It would mean that only small parts of only 1/6 of the map was revealed.
This gamemap will be huge!
A slight concern about the map size that I have, is that the map might be another ubisoft assassin's creed odyssey. Another huge map without essence.
It could also be another Elden ring. But that is more unlikely.
What we've seen so far looks pretty good, hopefully they'll expand that across all areas
Also noticed that the grass patch (path?) Seems to be clipping through the rail at Hogsmeade Station (2:20)
Yep I noticed that as well, I could of made the glitches section wayyyyy longer if I wanted too, but I was keeping to the really obviously bad stuff. Grass covering the rails wouldn't be super immersion braking, though they do need to fix it.
@@Lam0rak It looks like it's just a small patch of vines, as it has the exact same leaves as the rest of the vines.

There are students glitching in the Great Hall too. Noticed that during my first (of hundreds) watch of the trailer.
Yeah! I saw them too, that's what caused me to watch out for appearing students.
I'm actually hoping that the classes are not skipped through or are only for "story advancement". I would really like to have a lot of the wizarding world's lore told to me through the History of Magic class, Herbology, etc. I know it might sound dumb to some but to me some of the draw of a game like this would be to experience life at Hogwarts.

Maybe, but probably not cause there is smoke coming out.
I think the Whomping Willow along with its passage was installed because of Lupin, so it's unlikely.

That skeleton on the beach is some form of baleen whale. You can fairly clearly see half the skull on the right. Whether it's a normal or magical whale, I couldn't say. Or if it's even "supposed" to be one. Whatever it's supposed to be, it's using a baleen whale skeleton model.

it does not make sense that phineas is a random painting in the castle as he was alive during the time period of this game and not to mention he was a headmaster who was there for 80yrs and his painting would be up at the headmasters office

Headmistress most like Euphraxia Mole, Deputy Headmaster Phineas Nigellus Black (short hair dude), and the potions teacher very likely Brutus Scrimgeour, not a Black. He is also very enthusiastic about Quidditch and becomes Headmaster after Black, who becomes Headmaster after Mole, but Black has a short tenure as he proves incredibly unpopular and unlikable, perpetuating anti-muggle sentiment.
Also, caretaker is Rancorous Carpe, who tried to exorcize Peeves, and failed.
Peeves went batshit and could only be calmed by Euphraxia gifting him a new hat, seen worn in the trailer.
Also, interesting tidbit, Sirius Black II, Phineas Nigellus's son should be a Third Year Slytherin in 1890.

The reason the hourglasses aren't in the Great Hall is likely because... that isn't where they belong. In the books, they're gigantic hourglasses in the Entrance Hall. Most likely, it's moved back to where it belongs.
Ah a thing you never commented on- Ravenclaw house is back to its roots. The uniforms are trimmed in a pale bronze, there are banners with the same colour, and you can see the logo of the eagle, not the raven from the films. My fucking HEART I am so happy. THAT is something I've always wanted, ever since it was taken away from me 21 years ago.
I think our robes are a different style for some reason- maybe they're an older style or the latest style. Because not only do we have that golden trim (at least, gold for Gryffindor; hard to tell for the others) , everyone else's uniform has 3 stripes of their house's primary colour, where ours is one wide stripe edged in the secondary colour (or gold).
Your probably right. Some people have even noticed hourglasses in the entrance hall seen in the gameplay reveal. Also with Peeves return, and Ravenclaw being more book accurate, along with various other book based design choices, it's likely they would go with the book version instead of the movie version for the hourglasses.
How do you pronounce the Knut coins. I always pronounced them as Nut just with a silent K. But this guy pronounced them as Kuhnoot.
2:07 thats a pot with a leg, I believe it could be a reference to "Babbitty Rabbitty and her Cackling Stump" tale on The Tales of Beedle the Bard.

Still not sure about diagon alley. In one of the shots it looks like one of the portals leads to gringotts, so we might just use these portals to skip diagon alley.

personally, I don't care if they add qudditch, but it would be cool to see a quidditch match in-game. All I want is to explore the castle and the animals that are there and learn what happened before the new modern world. Also, it's stupid that J.K. Rolling doesn't want to help on this project because 1 it would greatly boost her, 2 she would have more control to help out the correct lore, 3 I think it's childish to boycott it!😡

Visual bugs like that aren’t all that bad. We won’t always be looking at the front of our character so that’s not a huge deal.
The clipping isn't that big of a deal, but they really need to fix the houses without walls, the robe's bunching, and the appearing students.
@@Lam0rak I agree. They also need to try to fix those animations as well. That is super old game design where you see the same Ai doing the same thing at the same time.
Is it too much to add a co-op mode where you play as twins, its less flexible and you just do everything together including getting sorted into the same house. Cant have individual stories / houses as such but atleast you could play together with your significant other for example.
That would be pretty cool, we'll just have to wait and see.
5:49 that may be a hub/personal player place like in the fable 3 game. telport to places outside hogwarsts(like digion alley), change cloths, wands, or go to gringotts to get money or despoit.
Maybe, though it seems that the room of requirement serves the player hub purpose.

so the mechanic is basically the same.

What I enjoy the most is that in the game the witches and wizards wear real costumes it's more fun, in Fantastic Beasts 1, 2 and 3 everyone wears muggleclothes also in the Wizarding World where you can change clothes they aren't muggles but even Dumbledore walks in a muggle suit through Hogwarts now also Grindelwald I'm so angry that Johnny Depp is no longer allowed to play Grindelwald in his sexy magician's costume. I like Mads but Mads looks like Mads really boring for such a unique role what would Jedis be without their capes or Star Trek without their uniforms?Fans understand more about the magical world than J.K.R. and David Yates TODAY, you can see and feel it in the films and I'm happy that at least the makers of the game love Harry Potter, understand that's how the wizarding world should be like in the films 1, 2, 3 and 4! i dont get why ppl are sceptical about quidditch there's literally a massive quidditch pitch in the first shot
Cause it takes a lot of work to make a games like EA sports and 2k, so having full blown quidditch on top of a full on rpg would be ambitious and impressive
