Funny coincidence that I've just started playing Hitman. Got into it two days ago and the thing I love the most, which was not mentioned, is that your objective is not so much finishing a mission but more like finishing the same mission over and over in all the different ways you can find to do so. Pretty original and it offers great instant replayability when you're always trying to find alternate paths for the same goal

@@gameranxTV I came to say that some of those games DO have similar ones. Brothers is similar to Phogs, and (a bit further than that) the Marsupilami game on Sega Genesis and a bunch of indie titles that are similar. Phogs is the only other two-stick one I can remember at this time, but there were others. Katamari Damacy is what I call a clean up game, and another notable example is Donut County, but at least spiritually Assemble With Care is similar. Also I don't think Undertale should be on the list, since as you said, no indie games, and that's like an indie game poster child. I think a couple more games where there isn't anything quite like this are Snowrunner and the Sniper series, Grow Up / Grow Home (two games), Maneater, and obviously Portal... and then Mad World on the Wii... I highly recommend watching the noclip documentary where they talk about level design because they thought it out to the point where 2 characters who are usually never supposed to meet can be secretly engineered to bump into each other and they bothered to create special events and dialogue just for that fringe case interaction.

Really happy to see the inclusion of Brothers: A Take of Two Sons. That game is such an amazing concept. I got my brother hooked on that after randomly stumbling across it years ago. That development studio is so awesome. My brother lives on the opposite coast as me, but we've played through A Way Out and It Takes Two together. It really is such a great bonding experience. Though we're about 3,000 miles away, for a couple days when Hazelight Studios releases a new game. It's almost like we are still kids playing split screen on our parents couch.
I really appreciate what they studio is doing for the gaming industry. Couch co-op is some of the most fun you can have in gaming. It's sad that Gen Z doesn't really get to experience that as every game wants to focus on multiplayer because that's where the money is. I really hope some other studios start trying to follow in their footsteps. I just hope they don't half ass it.

You never mention Spiritfarer in any of these listings. And it's really something else. It's first description I read was something like "a farming-management game about dying" and it is accurate! But it's also so much more!
The controls are the best I've ever seen in a platformer, the graphics and animations are beautiful and smooth, the story is deep and a bit sad, but also heartwarming. It's not punishing, but a bit challenging from time to time, so you don't get bored. It's entry level is perfect - you can take it up with a gamepad even if you never used one and still feel like a pro. And don't let me start on the couch co-op. It is simply the best. You can play relaxed, you can play more active. No stupid shooting, no repetitive logical riddles. You just... play and enjoy it.

@cityhustleHD Yeah the game is about delivering packages and traveling from 1 point to another but it actually makes it fun. I've never had a game make me feel so connected to the world. Like every single step your character takes matters depending on the Incline, texture of the surface you're walking on etc. You can actually control how your character shifts his weight in order to balance and choose how you want to set up your pack and your cargo and all of that matters. The world is as close to photo realistic as I've ever seen as well. There are dangerous things and enemy encounters (that look really amazing) but mostly the game is just you travelling through serene and surreal landscapes which I think is cool. The online features sort of remind me of dark souls mechanics where you could leave messages for others, because in this game you're on a journey alone and isolated but structures that you and other players build (ladders, bridges, buildings etc.) appear in each other's game worlds so overtime the world transforms from being barren to being filled with technology built by a community of players helping each other by leaving supplies without ever directly meeting each other. Something about it just feels so mysterious and cool. There's really nothing else like it and I think it's just a little bit too ahead of its time and artistic for a lot of gamers but if you are open to the sort of experience it's trying to give you its very cool.
