I’ve said it before , my father’s favorite joke he always told is( the manure spreader is the craziest piece of equipment on the farm,it goes around kicking the sh.t out of its self)! Love and miss you dad!
Ten days without a video!! Worth the wait, I know sometimes you just need a break. The joy and passion you bring to farming and fixing things keeps me coming back every week.
Pete, great to see you back and working on another project. Love to see you fixing things back to better than new! We use to pour our old engine oil on the wood bed and chains to make them last longer.
Hi Pete from Australia. We were a little worried about you as it has been a bit longer between posts. To see you on RUclips lets us know all is well. Take care and keep the vids coming. Greg
Great video. Done the same thing on a mid to late 50's Minnesota manure spreader. I believe they were originally built or manufactured at the State Penitentiary at Stillwater Minnesota. Not sure if they still have a short line of machinery or not. I remember seeing wagons, running gears, manure spreaders, sickle bar Mowers, side rakes etc.
Whatcha gonna put for the bed? Treated lumber? I’m no expert and was curious if a Fiberon product would hold up better than wood. Glad you’re back - we missed ya!
Who knew watching the repair of a manure spreader would be so interesting. I must say Pete your attention to detail is admirable. Anyone buying something used from you should be confident it was kept in good shape. Happy Nov. to you and Hillary.
To be honest with you, I didn’t think I was going to enjoy watching this video, but you changed my mind because you broke everything down and I like the way you interact with the material that you working with, and showing us all of the things in the taste of rebuild this project. Thanks Pete for allowing us to take this right with you. I can’t wait to see how it looks when it’s all done.
Hey Pete…I absolutely love all of your videos but the kind like this, with you rebuilding equipment and the videos with Hillary, and the kids working with your animals are amongst my favorites. I’ve been watching your videos since you started making them and I can tell you are great in editing. I also love looking at the beautiful countryside when you fly the drone. I live in South central Florida where everything is flat so I love seeing the hills and especially the snow like what was in this video. You are one of my favorite sites so much that I can’t wait to watch them after I get off work. I love hearing you say…”Come on Cows”. Keep up the great job you’re doing making these videos!
As a child my dad would work on things around the property and would be a miserable pos doing it. Watching you so cheerfully fix things heals a part of me. Thank you
I could watch you working on stuff for hours. Helps me relive the days of my youth out in the garage with my Dad as his helper while he worked on our cars, motorcycles or snow mobiles. My Father had the same demeanor and always talked to the machines, nuts and bolts in similar fashion Pete. Oh yeah and my Dad’s name was also Pete. Anyways, thank you.
I totally agree, deborah. Pete need not worry about his videos one bit. I find myself watching them and I get a good feeling...even though I was not that talented repairing things, somehow the way, the demeanour Pete and Hillarie share on their videos calms me. Thank you both for truly informative and entertaining stuff. I love the Canadian slur you subtly do when you give the temperature in Celsius...so funny! At least I think, being a Canadian, that is what you are doing...I suppose it applies to all those other countries in Europe, etc.
And this ladies and gentleman is why I love watching Pete's channel so much! So many folks are quick to scrap stuff and dash out to over spend and buy new or over spend on really bad used and abused stuff. Not Pete! This man grabs some tools, puts on his boots err uh sneakers in this video, and gets to it! This old spreader will be slinging the bull for a good while to come still and not be a new Prius or F150 or this years refrigerator model. My grandson is only 2 working on 3 and 99% certain he does not know what he is watching (he smiles HUGE and giggles when Pete calls the cows and gets the going) but I make 100% certain when he is at my house we watch Just a few Acres Farm videos. Why? Maybe one day he will understand and learn some good old fashioned values and skills that Pete and his family share with us. I can only hope! Take care all, be safe out there and have a fantastic day! And thanks Pete and Ms. Hill for sharing your day with us!
Pete, I remember back in 1962, my junior year in college my dad bought a rusted out Renault Dauphin. We spent the summer re-welding it back together. The car weighed 200 lbs more than new. Nice job you are doing👍
That must have been some job. I can imagine... repairing rusted cars helps one develop a sense of what can stay and what needs to be replaced. I helped a friend rebuild a similarly rusted MGB once... quite the task!
I have no reason to want to watch such a video, but of course I watched the whole thing with great interest. I find your good nature an inspiration. A REAL inspiration. I tend to be impatient when things don't go well at all, and now I find myself asking myself, "what would Pete say here?", or, "how would Pete deal with this irritation?". Thanks for taking the time to video so much of what you do. There is no way I'd be able to video myself taking care of a household chore - there would be so many bleepers LOL.
Just wanted to let you know that everyday my 4 year old granddaughter comes to see me she wants to watch Farmer Pete and is excited when you drop a new episide. Just a feel good comment. Thanks for your hard work on the channel.
Spreading manure was a staple on our farm. We normally ran out of room for it and spread throughout the winter. Spread with an International 1456 and a New Holland Supersolids spreader. Great memories. Great video Pete!!
Pete, you will have an almost new spreader that will last for years. You could hire out doing custom spreading for other farmers in your area to make some extra spending money. ha ha Blessings to you and your bride and kids.
Well like a lot of other people I sat here checking YT every day for this video, and after 8 days or so I started to get worried that there might be something wrong. Did Pete get sick? God! I hope not!. then consoled myself and said "Be patient! he's just taking a break, or involved in something else taking up his time. and I was right and relieved when this one came along. Loved every minute of it. and this time I won't be so impatient waiting for "part 2". WE got probably the same snow storm that you did. most of what you get we get later in the day here in Western MA. we wound up with 2.5 inches on the ground the next morning. and Of course I had Dr. appt. to drive to. ! we all have our woes. thanks again Pete for being there and glad you got the approveal from inspector Hillary. God Speed. ECF
Missed you, but we know you've been busy. A lot of hard work you always make it enjoyable to follow. I had never seen a rust converter used before it looks like it will add years to the inside panels. Knowing YOU and all your previous restorations I think it's a safe bet you'll repaint all of it then it will match. It's your work do it YOUR way.
30 years ago I bought an old farm and found an older model of yours back in the weeds. I took all the chains and paddles off, replaced the deck and turned it into a wood and dirt hauling wagon. Still use it.
Thank You for the hard work of getting the camera angles on the box repair. I found myself blinking and guarding my eyes when the rust would fall. Boy did I feel silly. You put out my favorite videos on you tube #1. Thanks again!!!!
Pete, you've already gone decal shopping, so depending on that adventure dictates how you move forward. Just get in there while the brush is already wet. Love these projects you show us doing. She's gonna be sweet when she's all done.
A sand blaster would be a good addition to your tools. I think there are many instances where it would come in handy on the farm Great video! Always fun to watch you work!!
My Dad would have loved to help refurbish your manure spreader. He loved projects like that. He got his 70 year pin from the sheetmetal union. So he was great at working with sheet type metal. His passion was welding. He LOVED welding. Any excuse to drag out his welders and he was there. Take care Pete
You do great work! When you get it all done and back together, it'll look really good and be well done. Your stick-to-a-tivness and attention to detail always impresses me! Your ability to fix things correctly and save money, and not have to buy something new all the time, (new isn't always better)... is impressive. Great video Pete! Anxious to see the rest of the project.
PETE YOUR THE MAN !! LOVE WATCHING THESE VIDEOS OF YOU REBUILDING OLD EQUIPMENT . MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE IS THE MECHANIX, ON HOW THINGS WORK. SORT OF LIKE A HUGE MECHANICAL CLOCK AND WHAT MAKES IT TICK. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
Thank you ! I appreciate you expressing your mental dissertations on why you make certain decisions during the reclamation of these old and worn machines, and the mechanics of getting the project done. . I lived in a different career world, but now that I am retired, I am tinkering in the garage. Your videos are a treasure of knowledge to be gained. Thank you for your thoughtfulness ! Ordered your book. Can hardly wait to read it. Best to You, Hilary, and family
Glad to see this video, Pete. I was a little concerned that you haven't posted in a while. It was well worth the wait. As always very good video, thanks for sharing sir. 👍👍👍✌️
Beautiful project, well done. When I do stuff like that (I did my truck frame last year) I do everything I need to do to get the job done but I have extra bonus work that I may or may not do too. Going after the bonus work for fun makes it more enjoyable and is "icing on the cake" :)
I about fell out of my chair laughing at "it just needs a little fine adjusting" and then proceeds to wack the heck out of it with a big hammer. that was great
It was SO GOOD to see you posting again, Pete!!! Was worried and hoping you were o.k.!!! My late farmer father would be SO PROUD of you in how you "Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, or, Do without" in how you're restoring that manure spreader!!! I watch every video, my friend, from beginning to end!!! Blessings to you and yours!!! > ;o)
Really nice to awaken to a JAFAF video. More worried that you or a family member got hurt or ill than having a new video. Nice fabrication and repair. If YT told me I could watch only one channel JAFAF would be the one. Hope you, Hillary and family have a great week!
Still a lot of work on the spreader. You're doing some nice necessary repair work and preservation for more years of use. Look forward to part 2. Stay safe.
I grew up on a dairy. 70 years ago when I was 12 my dad turned the job of emptying the spreader over to me. For some reason the wind always seemed to be blowing the wrong direction. Our spreader was also a New Holland to my best recollection.
Hillary came out to check up on hubby like a good wife would. It's a treat to watch the manure spreader rebuild and fills that need to fix and rebuild that us old farmers can't get rid of. It's like calling everybody over for dinner.
End of fall and going into winter was my favourite time of year. It was a slower time to allow us to take things apart and repair equipment to make ready for the next season.
PAINT IT PETE! I think you'll be glad you did when it's done. If you don't finish it out now, you wont find time to do it later. Great video! Thank you.
so glad you finally made a video Pete. many of us were worried---haven't heard from you in a while. many prayers sent your way. Thanks for the therapy !!!!
I really enjoyed that video, Pete. I love watching you finding ways to fix equipment and having the skill to do it. Please, please, finish the paint job!!! It’ll drive my OCD crazy if you don’t. 😂
I’ve said it before , my father’s favorite joke he always told is( the manure spreader is the craziest piece of equipment on the farm,it goes around kicking the sh.t out of its self)! Love and miss you dad!
Lol 🤣🤣🤣
It is also the only farm implement the dealers won’t stand behind 😁
If you don't paint the whole thing you may add well re use those deck boards! 😂
Peat, I think you're going to paint thee whole thing. You know I'm right 😂😂😂
Down the road a shit wagon flew. A bump was hit.
A scream was heard.
The driver was killed by a flying turd.
RIP uncle Jr.
There is something so soothing about watching Pete work. The skill and care shown is rare these days. I enjoy the gentle pace.
ABSOLUTELY!
I wish i knew all he does
Me too !@@henkheemskerk4437
My main goal is to try not to be bleeding when I'm done!
Zen and the art of farm machine maintenance.. by Pete..
Ten days without a video!! Worth the wait, I know sometimes you just need a break. The joy and passion you bring to farming and fixing things keeps me coming back every week.
Wow ur back I was ready have severe withdrawal syndrome not seeing a new post thank goodness ur back I’ll be okay now 😊
Pete, great to see you back and working on another project. Love to see you fixing things back to better than new! We use to pour our old engine oil on the wood bed and chains to make them last longer.
I agree 100% it was to long of a stretch between videos 😊
Greetings from malta , europe glad that you are back safely😅😅😅
Sorry you weren’t feeling good. Was starting to worry. Thanks for your work!

Glad you’re back - we missed ya!
What a joy to wake up and find a new video from Pete and his family!
Yay a new Pete video. I was worried. Glad you're okay!
An enjoyable visit with Pete and his 'new' manure spreader. The things I never thought I'd say
Who knew watching the repair of a manure spreader would be so interesting. I must say Pete your attention to detail is admirable. Anyone buying something used from you should be confident it was kept in good shape. Happy Nov. to you and Hillary.
Had a crappy night of work but this makes it a little better

i just called out to my partner..."Hey Pete & Hill are getting their first snow!"...we both smiled :-) from Sydney AU ..land of no snow x
I've missed your videos Pete ! I Pray you and everyone are well ! GOD BLESS !!!

Spreading manure was a staple on our farm. We normally ran out of room for it and spread throughout the winter. Spread with an International 1456 and a New Holland Supersolids spreader. Great memories. Great video Pete!!
I like how Pete always has more than one way to take mechanical things apart, eventually resorting to just grinding it off if necessary!
It takes a brave man with a thick skin to weld on RUclips. Great job Pete.
I never thought I would enjoy watching mechanical videos but somehow you make them very relaxing! Have a great day Pete
Farmer is just another name for welder mechanic carpenter and engineer lol 😆👍👍👍😎
Yay! Pete's back! Whew, you had us worried, glad you're okay!
Great work, Pete. Never hurts to do it right. Kind of hurts to see such a beautiful paint job getting poop dumped all over it. But, it is what it is.
Always looking forward to a new video Pete keep ‘em coming
Pete, you will have an almost new spreader that will last for years. You could hire out doing custom spreading for other farmers in your area to make some extra spending money. ha ha Blessings to you and your bride and kids.
I am so glad to see from you Pete! I thought something horrible had befell you! So happy to see all is well my friend!
“Fine adjustment” (a.k.a. sledgehammer) 🤣🤣🤣 Nice work making all those custom parts!! 👍🏻
Restoring a piece of equipment to regular use can be very satisfying. Good work, Pete.
Yep paint the whole thing! Don't shortcut a great job so far Pete!
Great job job Pete! Going to look like new ! See you on the next video!
I loved the video. Old farm girl living in a manufactured house but hey, grow where you're planted☺
WOW! This is the fastest I've ever seen Pete work. He spread that rust arrester on that manure spreader lickety split, just amazing indeed! 🧐
Paint it ALL. Will look better, but, won't run better. You replaced moving parts. Grrrrrrrrrrreat job Pete. Regards, ED
You’re quite the fabricator Mr. Pete, It’s looking great. I suspect you will paint the outside!
Big project but turned out pretty darn nice. Thanks for the video
I sure look forward to Sunday mornings these days. That spreader is going to be the best-looking spreader for a hundred mile radius.
Your attention to detail is wonderful. I have enjoyed your channel for years, especially when you share your views on life and living your best you.
Oh, just paint it! You'll be happier knowing it is just right for the poop. Love all your videos!!
Great job Pete! Farmer, metal worker, it all goes together.
Leave that the patchwork as it is, it looks great and everyone can see the work you’ve done
Awesome. Was waiting ... thanks Pete. ❤️👍👊🙏

Woohoo! You’re back! A voice of reason in a world gone mad.
I love to watch a job done properly! That spreader will last 50 more years now !
30 years ago I bought an old farm and found an older model of yours back in the weeds. I took all the chains and paddles off, replaced the deck and turned it into a wood and dirt hauling wagon. Still use it.
I really appreciate Pete making these videos and teaching us a lot about grazing and farm equipment. Thanks Pete!
Excellent repair and I speak from many years of experience at 80 years of age.
Thank You for the hard work of getting the camera angles on the box repair. I found myself blinking and guarding my eyes when the rust would fall. Boy did I feel silly. You put out my favorite videos on you tube #1. Thanks again!!!!
Hi Pete. Thank you for welcoming me to your farm.
Pete, you've already gone decal shopping, so depending on that adventure dictates how you move forward. Just get in there while the brush is already wet. Love these projects you show us doing. She's gonna be sweet when she's all done.
Hilary. Your hubby is a genius. We need more like him. And you!
I love your can-do spirit!! Another awesome video!! Thank you!!
The manure spreader is JUST FINE! Its not a show piece! It works for a living and it earned those scratches, dents, and pitting :)
❤❤❤❤❤ love Watching you restore anything. Thanks for bringing us along Pete!! The first snow fall was lovely.
A sand blaster would be a good addition to your tools. I think there are many instances where it would come in handy on the farm
Great video!
Always fun to watch you work!!
Good job Pete, really enjoy your vids.
You are really making a lot of progress on the equipment maintaining/ repair work…… I’m looking forward to seeing all this equipment back in action ….
Now that's my kinda "fine adjustment". 😃👍
Nice work, Pete!

When it looks good, it feels good.
I think you should, paint them all.
Love watching you work on equipment. Also love seeing the animals and field work
I was so engrossed in the project; I didn't notice that it may have been long. It was an enjoyable video.
Love your videos! I always learn something new and keeps me humble.
Thank you
People have no idea of how corrosive manure is. Amazing how clean you able to get the base materials.
We call that 'The Politician'...they spread crap everywhere they go!!!❤😂
This was the first video I watched of Just a Few Acres More. After this, Pete's easy going nature won another subscriber and I was hooked.
Great job so far Pete, can't wait for part two. 👍👍
Paint it Pete! LOL. Really enjoyed watching you work on this old spreader! Thanks for sharing, Pete. Best to Hilary!
Beautiful project, well done. When I do stuff like that (I did my truck frame last year) I do everything I need to do to get the job done but I have extra bonus work that I may or may not do too. Going after the bonus work for fun makes it more enjoyable and is "icing on the cake" :)
I about fell out of my chair laughing at "it just needs a little fine adjusting" and then proceeds to wack the heck out of it with a big hammer. that was great
Great job Mr. Pete. Your equipment is something to be proud of.
My Mother always said, any job worth doing, is worth doing well!
Good to see you Pete!!
Lots of fascinating improvements. Used to be fascinated by my dad doing this kind of work. 😊
Good morning glad to see you 😊
It was SO GOOD to see you posting again, Pete!!! Was worried and hoping you were o.k.!!! My late farmer father would be SO PROUD of you in how you "Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, or, Do without" in how you're restoring that manure spreader!!! Still a lot of work on the spreader. You're doing some nice necessary repair work and preservation for more years of use. Look forward to part 2. Stay safe.
Corrosion and manure spreader are like bread and butter. They always occur together
My money is on you painting the whole thing. Good job Pete

That rust converter stuff is really cool
Oh Pete, we all know you’re going to paint the whole thing! lol. Looks great! Can’t wait to see it finished.
I really enjoyed that video, Pete. I love watching you finding ways to fix equipment and having the skill to do it.
Please, please, finish the paint job!!! It’ll drive my OCD crazy if you don’t. 😂
