For me at the other end of life, bedridden and not doing well, it's the same..I watch till the tractors get worked on. Then I change to watching Jim and his workhorses because I grew up with work horses and know zip about tractors..( p.s. dads second farm was near Berkshire not that far from Just a Few Acres..
Nathan: A couple times today I've seen my comments to a thread posted entirely on another channel where it has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Stuff like this will happen to people when they disagree with somebody who believes that "identifies with" is good enough to determine the gender of those with dysphoria. Now I'm watching that circle doing it's thing indicating I can't edit and overwrite it. It will say it's been deleted by a pop up but there on my screen it sits. So, I'm taking screen shots to post elsewhere if it becomes a problem. Thanking you in advance. I gave you a thumbs up when I read your post without seeing Pete for the first time today. My problem is my give a darn is something that can't be busted easily. 😉👍
Imagine a world where everyone had your ideals and work ethics. There would be small farms producing meat, vegetables, produce, fruits and nuts... then small wood lots people producing lumber, furniture and crafts... and they all sold their wares at a market. No more shopping malls... no more big box stores... no more politics. What a wonderful world it could be!
Pete, I enjoy your jokes. My uncle would tell these type of jokes, we always said they were so bad they were funny. So to us you’re a Uncle Ernie jokester. Lee and Carolyn Bretzlaff, Villa Grove, Illinois.
You're damn right about manure. Spreading manure should be done between nice dry days in spring thru the end of september. It's when it's chemical value (as well as it's micro bacterial value) are at their best. Especially with solid manure like what you got on the farm. The true value of manure doesn't stop to a lab analysis. Is waaaaay better than any fertilizers you can spread on the soil. It's ALIVE !
For many years I have enjoyed the sound of the birds. Whether gramas in town, our home place or wherever. Billy sure enjoys being talked to and loved on. As well as the others. They enjoy being acknowledged and appreciated. Feels comforting. Thanks Pete and Hillary! Have a great day!
Pete and Hillary. I cant express more how much i enjoy your videos. Its like a family phone call... "just checking in". All your content is just what the soul needs to ground yourself. Even when you are spreading manure..."literally". Lol. Please know you are producing quality content... when i see a random barn cat in the foreground and say..."hi Esra." Thanks again for all you share, whether its animal care, tractor repairs, or farmers market. Thats what i like best...your unpredictable routine life. 😉
So great to see you smiling and obviously happy with the spring chores. YOu provide a lot of entertainment and knowledge to me and those other retired seniors. We love seeing your farm come "to life" in the spring and watch all the animals grow. Thanks for the work that you and Hillary do making these videos.
It's amazing the difference between North grasses and South grasses. Here in East texas the cows are off hay but won't have anything up to the digestibility/ protein of your grasses. I'm always jealous of your grass! But not the winter.
I totally loved that few seconds that you let us hear those frogs and bird. I wish someone would go and make a audio recording of them at least 10 minutes long. I am an insomniac and that would be heaven to hear that at bedtime
Pete, why did you have to kick those wood chips over. Brownie was having so much fun just nibbling and sniffing. Lol Love you channel buddy!! Keep up the great work!
here's a question for ya Pete !!! why not get a bigger bucket for the tractor ? I was really supprised at how much quicker I could get the job done when switching from a smaller bucket to a bigger one... and I am sure that would be the same for you.... filling the manure spreader with 3 buckets or 4 would sure be better than the 8 to 10 that you normally have to do...
Dad jokes are not my favorite thing, but when I hear you tell a dad joke I know you’re having a good day, and that you’re happy. Always brings a smile to my face. Love you’re videos, thanks for sharing your happiness today Pete. 😊
Two cups of coffee and start my day with Pete, his humor, and Just a Few Acres Farm. I love love this channel. Brings back so many memories of growing up and living on a farm. Retired now loving it. Thanks for all the great videos, your wisdom and info.
60's? shheeesh, we are getting dumped on with yet another 12 to 15 inches of....winter... Again. Yer piggers are looking good! Wish our boar was as friendly as your Buddy guy is.
Thanks Pete it all happing there mate ready for a nother year off farming , love the show you never know what your going to do , yep little pigs earlier than 10 days Pete , lots off natural poo , cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Hey Pete! How big are the pig pins inside the barn area? How much space do I need to plan for a pig like Red or John? Thanks for the help!! Keep up the good job. Love love love your channel.
I love your relationship with your pig you bring them in the pictures and talk to them just like they have children. That is the kindness of a farmer and his relationship with his livestock.
I love this. Recently watched the Netflix doc called "Kiss the Ground". I speaks to the initiative on the importance of soil - the man-made causation of how we are negatively impacting the soil and how we can natural repair through regenerative agriculture!! It's nice seeing farmers like you taking such care of the land!
What a positive, relaxing video - I love watching your channel ❤ I’m looking forward to the changes coming to the the barns and seeing how it changes your work flow.
Your calmness around the critters is impressive, especially if you are not editing or leaving out the frustrating times that can lead a man to using all those other words... 😂
Hey Pete. It is that time of year. We are getting ready to bring in our first chicks, layers and pigs this month. I have been watching your videos for the last two years or so, I have learned a ton. Thank you.
Great way to start my day. Your town looks so nice and peaceful in the morning. Does little Billy ever go out during the day? He really loves when you come around. Can’t wait for the spring to come.
Did you decide to put your new pig edition on the side of the heifer barn? It's funny we all have a different spot on where you're going to add it. Everyone has heard a different location. Lol 😂. Love your channel just block out any of those negative people. They're everywhere. You & Hilary keep up the interesting videos. Love them, can't wait until the next ones!! I plan on going to your market, I’m from herkimer county so sometime when I can find the time for a nice drive I’ll do just that.
The winning bit of wisdom today. 1. Recognizing how some farms have gutters with right angle steel attatched to a chain that moves it out of a barn into your Honey wagon there. In a setting where a farmer had heifers in an old dairy barn they had to shovel it out first and then reload it back into the gutter. You're spot on about when to put that on the fields though. That same farmer would put it into a pile in a low unused area that must have been a gravel pit some decades before. A years seasons later I mixed that stuff 50/50 with sand. Anything would grown in that. 2. Real men don't need heated seats. That was cuter than a bug's ear.
Hurray more farming on RUclips!!! You just made a new subscriber. I also started a channel a few months ago much inspired by Pete and his farmlife videos. Best of luck to your channel I’ll make sure to watch your videos. 👍👍
@@Vilhelmnilsson Thank you! I appreciate the subscription. At this stage every subscription is super important. This reminds me of the days when we used an International 350 utility with a bucket. It took so long to clean out our barn, mainly because it was to big to use in a barn. We now have skid steer machine which works better inside a barn. Watch out for the wind. Happy spreading.
