Adrian always keeps your thumb on top of the starting handle, that way if it backfires while starting the handle spins out you hand, of you have your thumb below the handle and it back fires it will break your wrist, seen it happen
Brilliant. Exactly the reason I love this channel is for this type of content, the maintenance of equipment and the many skills on display including the knowledgeable commentary from Adrian. The man is in his element… 💪🚜
@@IFarmWeFarm Adrian, see, they agree with my assessment-you're a fine teacher. Thank you, another excellent and instructional video. Hope that you get that little filter off too.
Well done great video a little tip never hold the handle of the mixer like a shovel always keep your thumb the same side as your finger if the mixer fiers back it would brack your thumb 👊
My late father always told me that and 99% of the time that's what I do. But sods law, one of the very few times I didn't, guess what? Broke my wrist...6 weeks in plaster.
Great video Adrian, my cousin was a builder, he had the same mixer, i worked with him, it had to be washed every time it was used, he still has it, and his son uses it now, great wee mixer!
I couldn't help but think of Dan (Escape to Rural France) when watching the lesson on cleaning cement mixers! I'm not sure how he treats his current one but his old mixer was in an incredible state. At one point Dan dropped so much concrete around the base that the mixer was cemented to the ground and he couldn't move it. Of course he always banged the drum with a hammer. My parents bought an ancient electric mixer maybe ten years ago, a 3-phase beast, probably from the 60s. It's beastly heavy compared to a modern one the same size but with new bearings it will probably outlive all of us.
Great video Adrian, every time I watch your videos you have a new bit of kit in the yard, well done. I don’t think that machinery house is going to be big enough now😁😁.
I work on a concrete pump here in Dublin and we dump about Half a meter or more at the end of every day so if you ever see a concrete pump near you us pump driver's are always looking for a place to dump out the Hopper at the end of a pour and we are happy to give it away so we can wash out because it Start's to go hard if we have to drive to a concrete plant to wash out.
I find your channel so interesting and relaxing to watch. I love the odd jobs that need fixing just as much as the farming videos. This viewer from Connecticut, U.S.A. is hooked. Have a great day and Stay Safe!
Put pumped wheels on it much easier to move, also cut the fuel line&put a on line filter, also if you have a miny digger you could make a Hopper for filling, just a few suggestions 🤔, great vedio 👍
Hi Adrian, (mixer chain - bodge suggestion) chop a spare chain link and weld onto the handle stem then when unhooking from the mixer; you can hook straight onto the stem - keeping the chain off the ground, cleanish, tidy and safe. Thanks for sharing a busy life.Good health and Good luck to all.
The sediment bowl does come off give it a gentle tap it should come down the engine it's self first got produced 1960 finished production 1990 they are 1hp upto 3hp good reliable engines if you want any second hand parts any time let me know I've loads here
We bought a 3 point concrete mixer which does nearly 1 cubic metre of concrete which is large but we have concreted our yard with it as it's cheaper than a lorry. We use a mini digger to load it, its ran by our 100hp plus same and two of us have used it perfectly. It would be ideal for you to pour your shed floor or pillars or concreteing your yard
Also you mentioned the shed we have an entire shed made of esb poles you can get like 20fts for the roof beams and 15fts for the pillars, auger a hole about 3ft deep, place your pole in, half Barrow of concrete around it and then put your 20ft poles on top in whatever way you wish and you can notch them and join them with esb bolts. We notched them like half way for the joints. Then you can get 4 x 2 boards, notch them slightly into the top poles and you can bolt your sheets to that and you have a fair cheap shed, I can dm a pic of the shed on Instagram if you wish
The bowl comes off and it’s a Crossland 489 or equivalent filter in there.give the bowl a twist with a pair of slip jaw pliers as it tends to bite in to the O ring. We used to Wax oil ours before they went out on hire and then when washed the cement used to just flake off.
@@IFarmWeFarm another useless bit of info, if you find the handle is too close to the panel you straightened, there is a starting dog which the starting handle locks on, this sometimes gets knocked back on the shaft, remove the big panel and the round guard and you will see that the starting dog is adjustable as in you can slide it along the shaft and keyway.
Maybe the next time your starting the mixer try not too rap your thumb around the handle in case of kick back. Trust me it’s some thing you don’t want to happen. Great 👍 we mixer 💪💪
Great Vlog A..Use to have a similar mixer when I a snotty noise pup and had to use a rope to start it...yad be fecked at the end of the day...but one thing I made sure to do was clean it properly....neighbour of my parents bought it and still uses it to this day
the fuel bowl should come off try giving it a tap around the bowl itself but there should be a rubber ring around the neck that you will have to watch or make sure you have a new one
get your self a bucket full of beach pebbles the size of your fist from the coast, use them to clean the inside of the mixer after each use, works a treat! a good lick of paint that mixer will be around for a while yet... i prefer painted clean machinery... get some heat resistant sealant and put a bead of it around the seal areas... for the scraper... then use a light jet wash to clean it....
Great videos. If you were thinking of cleaning the mortar off the mixer to help tidy it up, if the mortar isn't very heavily caked on it there is stuff I use for our mixers etc called Guard Industries Premium GTR for breaking down concrete and the likes. I find it great stuff to help clean a mixer up
You might connsider using second hand RSJ's salvaged from other buildings for your new shed. A bit of fabrication involved but between yourself and maybe a few days work for a fella handy with a cutting torch and a welder , it'd save a pile of money . Fabricator by trade here and happy to advise further.
Yes I’ll alway looking online for them, problem is a lot of lads are looking a small fortune for stuff as they know the price of steel. I’ve seen some guys that are pricing stuff as new 🤷🏻♂️
Adrian, get that mixer fired up and lay the floor for your new machinery shed when you get a minute, it’d give you a good flat area for all your servicing etc until you have time to get a roof up 👍. Always love when I get notification of one of your videos 😎
Great video Adrian. Its the simple things in life. Watched Finnegans rebuild two John Deers. While interesting got more kick out of your mixer and scraper ! 😄🤫😄
I spent years doing my bricklaying apprenticeship on one of them mixers seen more of the shovel than the trowel in them days but making up for it now have never put me trowel down in thirty years, why did you not get a pan mixer for back of tractor although value wise that mixer is ten times better and engine is bullet proof so I suppose it makes sense but pan mixer is great as can fill it with mini digger and is the best mixer for floor screeds👍
I knew it after seeing the freshly poured floors on Instagram, I have nearly the exact same mixer which was converted to a 110v motor and mine has much bigger wheels ( wheelbarrow wheels i believe,
Nice mixer👍 wheel barrow wheels fit there on our one at work and the drawbar swings round under the mixer beside the forklift pockets onto a hook bracket. Still like the barbecue idea though 😉😂😁 Stay safe 🏴
It's a pity you didnt look at the jarmet pan mixer, cheap to buy, great to mix and you can load with your front loader, save your back and you can pour in the location you need it. I find it a godsend for floors, foundations and concreting posts...
When starting the mixer Adrain always keep your fingers and thumb on the same side of the starting handle other whose if the mixer kicks back you may break your thumb

I bought a very similar one in 2004 for building my house. Sold it 3 years later. Regretted it ever since. Always gr8 to have one about when you need it. I have a wee electric one as well, but just not that same.
Great video Adrian, if memory is right from days moving mixers wit teleportor on sites the handle turns round under mixer and ha gs on a hook. Hi Adrian. We have one of these mixers sat doing nothing in our yard. Bought a new one last year. Il have a word with my boss and see if he wants to sell it.. it's in pretty good condition

If it was mine, I'd replace the axles with larger ones. Then put on more substantial wheels and tires.easier to roll over stones and obstacles.
Mixer is fierce handy article around a place, that’s a good straight on too. Good job 👍
Use standard rubber wheel barrow wheels, they are very cheap. It is what i used on my mixer which is a 250. ;)

Small tip I'd keep my thumb over the top of handle when swinging it if it kicks back it won't break your thumb just slip out of the hand
