Had you posted the dust in a baggie before? I feel like I saw that way more than two years ago. Then again my memory is foggy at best.
You kept this a good while but the dust had to settle down from being in that damn baggie
Good spin kid, little fast for me though, good job👍
Awesome music 🎶. 1💛
You got the Scales then you got Billy Strings Awesome
The best version I could find of « Dust in a baggie » was in that same room.
To me, the best of Billy String is just him and a guitar ! Nothing too fancy… This guy is incredible.
There was that other dude. The barefoot guy.
Yup. That's the first time i heard Billy. It came across my Facebook feed. Then started researching him online. Most recent guitar player that definitely caught my attention!
Billy alone is definitely legendary but when he combines forces with the boys he’s picking with these days it’s an unforgettable sound. Jarrod Walker (mandolin), Royal Masat (upright bass), and Billy Failing (banjo) are absolute bluegrass legends as well.
@@claygainey8684 I was waiting for him to show up....
Him, his guitar, and an NPC standing in the background waiting to give him a sidequest.
My dad is the only person other than Johnny Winter himself I've ever heard play this and he played it a lot my entire life right up until he died. Now I'm sitting here choking back tears missing him. Man, thank you for this.
Your Dad had good taste! It will always be my favorite song he covers.
sanford clark is the og
I didn’t think anybody else knew that song! Love it!
Sanford Clark
@@gagej727 Clark isn't the OG, Loy Clingman wrote it, but I love Clark's the best personally!
Billy is an animal! His command of his instrument is terrifying. He will go down as the one who saved Blue Grass and one of the Greatest Of All Time.
He makes that guitar sound like 3 different instruments. God tier.
Wow, even more old school Billy Strings...
Thought I'd seen that livingroom before when I saw the thumbnail.
@@guyfreeman1549 Humble beginnings for sure. He was great then and has come a long way to where he is now playing with many famous musicians and blowing everyone's minds. Long live Billy Strings!
The original is one of my favorite songs of all time. This dude does it justice
These couch sessions should be released on there own album just like they are, simple!!
They will be, when his friend gets married and mentions he made the videos when he was younger and then his wife decides they need a nicer house than they had at first.
@@MrDazzlerdarren sounds like experience talking
@@jakethejeweler3092 Sounds like another country song! lol
Yep,pure gold
The barefoot Ben sessions 😂
The only way I can bring myself to stop playing this video over and over again is by playing some other Billy String's song. This man is amazing!
Don't tell me this is the last song of "IN A QUIET ROOM AT A LOUD PARTY" this is the greatest thing on the internet
This song was recorded in 1957 by Loy Clingman as well as by Sanford Clark. I remember them both. Loy’s version has always been my favorite. Curious? It can be found on UTube.
Album name...
Late to the party 🥳
Agreed
Billy isn't a national treasure. Not even close...more like an international treasure!
Intergalactic treasure! Aliens aint got nothing on this man
Sometimes an artist crosses all boundaries; genres. Impressive, soulful, and best of all, entertaining
Billy is the modern blue grass king can’t change my mind
I don't think anyone's arguing with ya.
Put Tony Furtado on that short list for Blues/Americana King.
Thank you! I live for watching these old videos of Billy play alone on this couch they are golden
Every evening i like to drink a cold whiskey and listen to Billy. Cheers
Cheers
Scottish person with advice. "Cold whisky"?
Try this - leave it in the kitchen or elsewhere warm for a few hours n take your dram from there. It'll be alive.
Never thought I would listen to bluegrass, but Billy is phenomenal!
There's a lot to unpack here. This kid is incredibly talented, this is a kick-ass song written by the "Blind Balladeer" Leon Payne that has been done by multiple artists including Sanford Clark, Charlie Crockett, Johnny Winter, The Coasters, Loy Clingman, etc. The guy who wrote this song, Leone Payne, also wrote "Lost Highway" that was popularized by Hank Williams. And the songwriter, again Leon Payne, was mentioned by one of my personal favorite artists, Doug Sahm, as a songwriter that everyone should know on the "Return of Wayne Douglas" album. As I said previously, this young man is very talented and he's touching on some rarefied company.
Thanks so much for a little background! This is great!
What guitar is this?
Depth.......noice!
Love Johnny's version.
All around great! Johnny Winter is a great American music icon. Ain't nothin' to me is a great song. And this young man is a great guitarist and singer. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
That's an Eddie Noak song.
@@allenmckinney2082 If you meant Eddie NOACK, he may well have recorded a cover of the song, although I couldn't find any indication that he did. The song was written by leon Payne and covers of it were recorded by at least 14 different artists. My original comment had to do with the fact that the young man, in this video, was asked to do some 'Johnny Winter' and he sang ' Ain't Nothin To Me' which is the version that I'm the most familiar with. I stand by my original comment, 'Johnny Winter is a great American music icon. Ain't nothin' to me is a great song. And this young man is a great guitarist and singer.'
@@return2sender791 Whatever, chief. Ain't nothin' to me.
@@photobuzz Oh well, that's life. Or at least, it was :)
Sanford Clark did it best
Thank god someone had the good sense to document this stuff, incredible performance, what a great winter cover
If I sounded that way I would just sit around and listen to myself
Yes!!
Hell yeah, thanks for blessing us with more! 👏🏻🙌🏼
Another absolute belter. Thank you so much for sharing Please tell me you have more gems from this party. "Baggie", "Preacher" and now this ...
What a true raw talent and look what he's become. I've ran out of goosebumps to be honest. Please come to Scotland one day Billy... And bring this good man "Lower Standards" too, the whole world owes him a pint for bringing these tunes to our ears. 👍
I do not know how I have missed this all this time, but man is it good.
Thank you for this. I never would have stumbled upon Billy Strings if it weren't for your channel about a year ago, believe it or not. :)
That's what it's about 🤘🏻
I am also in this boat and it Rocks! Thanks for documenting these great performances.
Thank you for sharing this! Billy’s talent is Something special…even at this age .
Am Scottish and we love to hear this kind of music
Take a bow brother
This is one of the first songs I learned all the way through back in the '70s ...

Greetings from germany...........and i am so happy to see you live in Hamburg
The “basement album” should go down in history. Couple buddies were having fun and appreciated it but man… it’s a wonder how some people there didn’t stop in their tracks. I love this series. Just a man leaning into his unearthly side…
Home again!
Damn Good Way To Start Off The Year!
Thanks for the new video!
Where is his Buddy that Smokes the Hell out of the Unlit Cig?
He had to go do a bump

You mean the green shirt who offers side quests?
Froto the NPC?
I've been hoping more of this footage would come out ... thank you
WOW, a clip from Billy's early days. Already kicking it!
Oh my god the GEMS of this basement keep coming
He should go back and record an album in that basement .
Sometimes you are lucky enough to be present to see the amazing talents of people in situations like this .
I've been in small places in Eastern Kentucky at small gatherings and have seen many a random individual pick up a guitar and leave you speechless .
He is a busy young man!Hell ya such talent!
I hope God keeps him well, a national treasure. Decades to go. 🙏🏼
Crying my heart out!!
Thank you resurrected SRV!
So nice to hear someone honor the great Johnny Winter.

I know “Dust in a baggie” is the jam but this cover is highly underrated!
billy always plays that guitar , like it would be his last time
Love some billy strings
What a great song.
Sweet version, Son,
Sure is some fancy pickin'
There is nothing like seeing Billy in the "early days". Priceless! Only thing this needs is Mr Green Shirt to make a Cameo! Maybe the Coors on the floor getting warm is his?
Great song. Great job of it!

Reminds me of Hank SR. LUV IT!
Billy before fame.akwats good stuff.
This song was written by Leon Payne under the pseudonym Pat Patterson and this is one of my favorite versions. Sandford Clark, Red Kirk and Loy Clingman all do excellent renditions of this classic.
