So i watched the first 5 episodes and here are my thoughts: 1.They literally fucked up the whole diversity of the show. Everyone is whitewashed. 2.Teens are showed sooo wrongly again. Teens doesn't even look like that. Bloom and the other first years supposed to be 16 but they all look like they are in their late twenties. 3.THE WRONG FEMINISM MADE ME PUKEEEE. Sky wasn't even mansplaining to Bloom at all. He JUST GAVE HER SIMPLE DIRECTIONS TO HELP WTF Mansplaining: (a blend word of man and the informal form splaining of the gerund explaining) is a pejorative term meaning "(of a man) to comment on or explain something to a woman in a condescending, overconfident, and often inaccurate or oversimplified manner". So Bloom's ignorant behavior made me so cringe. The show itself doesn't even know what is feminism is and yet there using fancy words to show to the audience that they are spreading awareness. AWARENESS MY ASS. LEARN FIRST UGH! 4.Everyone is acting sooo shitty towards to the earth fairy Tearra? Maybe Terra idk her name sorry for that. Terra Harvey is the worst character, she had zero character development and I was wondering why until i found out she's an added character. Like she has character flaws like others but unlike the others she never acknowledged them and work on them. Season 2 they really screwed up her character by waiting that long to do something with her and her rationale for being gay is that any guy she pursues doesn't want her. Like they could have made it where there's a girl she gets to know that makes her question her sexuality by making that girl captivate her. The cat eyes scene was ridiculous!
I can 100% explain what happened with Stella- they looked at her and said “oh hey she’s blonde so she’s the asshole.” As a natural blonde (red right now), people know we have personality traits outside of dumb, peppy or bitch right? Like imagine how different it could have been if they’d made Terra the prickly one for example?
It’s like they (for some reason) decided to combine Stella and Diaspro into one character in this. Which I hated, Bloom and Stella are supposed to be best friends not rivals.
i love how netflix had a chance to show us true, genuine girl friendship. girl friendship without all the baggage and jealousy that media likes to attribute to teen girls. the chance to give us something wholesome, cute and kind of refreshing. the girls were very good, supportive and understand to each other. they had their sass, but, they were friends at heart. kind of very feminist, if you think about it. does it matter? yes! netflix wanted to give us a "feminist" moment with the whole "mansplaining" thing, which really wasnt. well, they had a chance to show us something refreshing. they went for riverdale with fairies, that arent really fairies. whats the difference between them and the witches? they cant even transform!!

Is it because I’m crying my eyes out right now?”, “No, dummy. I’m a mind fairy. I can feel what you feel.” - the whole changeling plot - erasing the Trix and compromizing them into one character, but then give Beatrix two side kicks so they are basically a group of three again ??? - they made it feel even more straight than the OG - the Sky/Stella/Bloom love triangle because we needed that one - the adults being stupid af - Vanessa apparently almost dying in the fire and having third degree burns but only at places that can be covered by clothes easily (and also they do not look like third dagree burns at all) - Bloom ready to kill her “parents” because they took away her door (lmao I know a teenager has like outburst and can't control their emotions but wtf) - “BuTt StUfF” another great literal masterpiece from our all-time favorite Riv - Stella is not only not part of the group for like 75% of the time - the teachers being unecessary mean to their students like “oh you just learned to control your powers, well damn you still suck hope you get better soon lol that looks so bad try harder” - Aisha being the only one who has no love interest - ^same as Terra who is pining after a dude that doesn’t like her that way - Bloom always playing the victim and always acting like no one suffers as much as she does - using pop music that doesn’t fit the tone of the scene at all (and also ruining one of my fav songs) - Alfea basically turning into every garbage teenage high school show Netflix ever had - Everyone acting as if Beatrix is super smart and a good spy even tho she sucks at it without end (why would you try to get as much attention as possible?? and kill your accomplice???) - no other planets but realms and still here everyone knows that California is part of America because americans aren’t full of themselves at all :) - they tried desperately to be woke by throwing stuff around like “don’t be sexist” and “don’t come at me with this feminist bs” like good job to the white old dudes who missed the entire point of feminism - fire is somehow effective against BURNED creatures (e.g. throwing water filled balloons at mermaids) - all telling and no showing (expositions + no flashbacks = BORING) - Dane’s character doing a 180 out of nowhere for plot convenience - Stella being a threat to other students but no one seems to care - the good ol’ the bad guys aren’t really bad but in the end turns out they are and the good guys were the good guys all along plot twist that we have seen a million times on netflix alone - Sky not having trust issues after Bloom spiked the water bottle and just accepting that she felt the need to drug him - Sky having daddy issues and that being treated as his main (and only) character trait (besides being in love with Bloom) - using phones all the time but when it’s important suddenly no one got a phone with them - beatrix drags a random “bad boy” into her evil plan but kills her only partner that ALREADY had the trust of FaRaH - Sky still persuing Bloom even tho he knows that Stella could blind Bloom because she can’t control her powers and even threatens to do so - again no one saw a problem with that?? - Bloom being one of the worst liars out there but Aisha is like “wow, you are a great liar” like no bitch you literally had to help her five seconds ago - Stella blinding her best friend being one of the most underwhelming plots I have ever seen (I mean how can a show fuck it up so bad that a literal girl blinding her best friend doesn’t interest me?) - no one can have an interesting storyline because there is the slight chance that they could outshine the real star (bloom) - ^therefore most sideplots are super shallow or just boring
Don’t forget Bloom COMPLETELY NOT EARNING transformation magic at the end of the season. And for all the build up of transformation magic too just be her manifest the UGLIEST wings of fire and then fainting 5 seconds after she conveniently kills all the antagonists.
LITERALLY 😭 Them walking hand in hand in the final scene of the finale got me like “huh??? since when did y’all become so close to do that” 😭 like did i miss something?
Bloom's birthday is December 2004...she looks AT LEAST 18. They changed it from the original so much that they should have just made it a fairy university or something.
I have the "conspiracy" that they just made it "dark" to save a looot of money. Imagine how much it would cost to bring Alfea to live or all the cool inventions that mixed girlyness with technology wich was such an original concept.
Hopefully we get better fashion in season 2. Heard that the costum designer doesnt do season 2, maybe she got fired. Even the creator of the original didnt like the clothes.
One of the things that I didn’t like is that there was no wings like they could’ve not made it cheesy or whatever but the whole transformation was a big thing in the cartoon not that there had to be a transformation with music and etc but it felt like to me a big part of the of the Winx was missing because that was a giant thing in the show. And to me they didn’t really feel like fairies like u know in the cartoon. And Ik the show is supposed to be more mature but their personalities weren’t compelling at all they were all bland versus in the show Stella was welcoming but didn’t have a filter musa was very sure on what she wanted to do and Alesha was confident and was cool flora sweet a little shy caring and bloom happy nice and determined!

I actually rewatched Winx cartoon before watching the show. Some things were ok, but many many things I didn't like. Feels like things were forced at some point, like going too fast. They needed more time.
I thought it was sad that everyone's confidence got tuned down a lot. In the old series they (specialists and Winx) often got in trouble for not taking crap from anyone. But unlike in the new show they would accept the consequences of their actions with the help of each other. And I really missed the wings, the transformations and the loud music. Also I think in the cartoon there were only three teachers as well.
I agree about the love triangle and there where already soft love triangles in the original winx like heilia flora and princess krystal or riven musa and darcy so why did they have to corrupt stella and blooms relationship. also something i loved about winx club is the non earth outfitsbut in this show ALL the fairys dress like there from earth :(
They could have stayed true to the source material and still have it directed to an older audience (without it being over the top and even revolting as they made it) And I agree with the whole teenagers drinking/partying and hooking up. Like do TV EP’s think teenagers have nothing better to do?

Don’t forget Bloom COMPLETELY NOT EARNING transformation magic at the end of the season. And for all the build up of transformation magic too just be her manifest the UGLIEST wings of fire and then fainting 5 seconds after she conveniently kills all the antagonists.
also the fact the og winx club did have a love triangle which was ICONIC. dracy. riven and musa. not to forget diaspro, sky and bloom

Bloom's birthday is December 2004...she looks AT LEAST 18. They changed it from the original so much that they should have just made it a fairy university or something.
I have the "conspiracy" that they just made it "dark" to save a looot of money. Imagine how much it would cost to bring Alfea to live or all the cool inventions that mixed girlyness with technology wich was such an original concept.
Hopefully we get better fashion in season 2. Heard that the costum designer doesnt do season 2, maybe she got fired. Even the creator of the original didnt like the clothes.
One of the things that I didn’t like is that there was no wings like they could’ve not made it cheesy or whatever but the whole transformation was a big thing in the cartoon not that there had to be a transformation with music and etc but it felt like to me a big part of the of the Winx was missing because that was a giant thing in the show. And to me they didn’t really feel like fairies like u know in the cartoon. And Ik the show is supposed to be more mature but their personalities weren’t compelling at all they were all bland versus in the show Stella was welcoming but didn’t have a filter musa was very sure on what she wanted to do and Alesha was confident and was cool flora sweet a little shy caring and bloom happy nice and determined!

Because portraying emotionally vulnerable teenagers would have been such a waste. Also, Stella is my favorite Winx in terms of writing.
I actually rewatched Winx cartoon before watching the show. Some things were ok, but many many things I didn't like. Feels like things were forced at some point, like going too fast. They needed more time.

Honestly I liked the storyline: it was interesting and intense. But like everyone else I hate that they changed the characters so much.

I thought it was sad that everyone's confidence got tuned down a lot. In the old series they (specialists and Winx) often got in trouble for not taking crap from anyone. But unlike in the new show they would accept the consequences of their actions with the help of each other.
And I really missed the wings, the transformations and the loud music.
Also I think in the cartoon there were only three teachers as well.
I agree about the love triangle and there where already soft love triangles in the original winx like heilia flora and princess krystal or riven musa and darcy so why did they have to corrupt stella and blooms relationship.
also something i loved about winx club is the non earth outfitsbut in this show ALL the fairys dress like there from earth :(
They could have stayed true to the source material and still have it directed to an older audience (without it being over the top and even revolting as they made it) And I agree with the whole teenagers drinking/partying and hooking up. Like do TV EP’s think teenagers have nothing better to do?

I absolutely loved this show back in my childhood. It only took Bloom and Sky's first convo to make me stop watching. And that hurts
