As a playwright, I can honestly say, nobody ever writes a play let alone a one man show because they think it will make money. The only reason you write a play is because you have a story you want to tell. I don’t know how much of Baby Reindeer is fictionalized or dramatized and I know there are two sides to every story but the fact that his telling paints the characters in shades of gray and she has this very black and white interpretation of the events (I.e. he’s the villain) makes me more inclined to believe Richard Gadd. The fact that Baby Reindeer has become a commercial success was likely outside of what Gadd ever expected.

It’s Narcissistic Personality Disorder. To best understand her, you just have to accept she is not wired the same. The photographic memory line reminds me of Trump saying he has the best memory, which narcissism is pretty synonymous with Donald Trump. They live and lie in the moment. I think a normal person would be able to concoct a better story, such as it all being an extreme exaggeration of how she may have made him feel - say you spent time at the pub, went to a few of his shows to support him, sent him an email/day; but unfortunately I may have frightened him enough to write this story, but he never told her he was put off. But that would entail some level of accountability which she cannot and will not ever take. She can’t keep her story straight - something is off.
