I've loved it, bought it from Lowe's around 10 years ago for $349 with the stand. It's been a great saw, it has not complained about ANYTHING I've asked it to do.
When are you going to review the Dewalt DWE7491RS ? That seems like the saw to benchmark against.. Also the new Bosch GTS15-10. Also, these two in a head-to-head battle would be interesting too
I was very pleasantly surprised when you brought up the Skil saw at the end! A lot of reviews exist in a vacuum, it's great that you mention your previous picks, explaining history of your recommendations rather than just leaving viewer to compare your videos themself, which can be particularly hard in regard to such similair products
I bought a barely used skil table saw with metal throatplate on fb marketplace for $100. I tried to find the kobalt with knob adjust fence on the market place but everyones selling the old style lever lock fence. Saw the skil table saw for $100 and snatched it up within an hour of listing. 😊
I've had the Kobalt table saw for about 6 months now and I'm just a beginner building boxes, cutting boards and home improvement projects around my house and I love it. It's a beastly saw, for it's size it's a heavy bastard. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this saw.
I personally have the Skil because it has the built in stand. Also got it on a $279 sale at Lowe's. I think both are great and the Kobalt looks like it has metal gears for the fence rack and pinion so that's an upgrade over the skill.
I bought this saw 1.5yrs ago as my first 10in table saw. Was very good for what it is. Built my first 3 pieces of furniture with it. I have since upgraded to a cabinet saw. Both the kobalt and Skil are made by same company Chervon. Most likely using same motors and fence parts. Both a great deal
I bought this saw last year. It works as it should, but you can tell that it is made just good enough to work. That's how they met the price point. Definitely good for a homeowner or a beginner. Or a pro that doesn't use one very often
Thank you for the review. I am a Kobalt user and I finally bought this table saw (but I bought the folding portable version on wheels). Had it about a month and haven't had time to use it. Hahaha.. love that I can fold it up and take up less space as my bigger table saw that finally died. Glad to hear from you that it is strong and worth it. Kobalt had a good warranty as well. Never had to really use it, though. I bought it at full price and a month later it went on sale and my local Lowes manager gave me the price difference. I will look into that bow fence thing. Thanks again, from another family member in Christ.
Several years ago I purchased the RIDGID 10 inch contractor table saw. It was just under $500 and has worked well. Yes this saw has some extra features that would be nice to have. Thanks for doing a review of features. Over the years I have had to make minor adjustments to bring the blade and fence back to square, that is normal. Great video.
I do think that it’s smarter to spend a little more and get a larger more capable saw. These job site saws are fine for light work but not for a serious woodworker that’s going to have large projects. Spending an extra $300 will get you so much more saw…. And last. A lot longer
I bought this saw based on your review. It’s decent for the price! Definitely a good entry level choice. Only major complaint is the throat plate isn’t flat so it can’t be properly leveled. Unfortunately for the saw it’s being abused and probably ultimately sacrificed for composite exterior trim and siding.
I was on the way outta buy the skill and this video came up. Your review was positive and what convinced me was the larger rip. When I got to lowes the had 1 left including the rolling stand for 299 STEAL
I've been using a Kobalt 24v shop blower for 4 years now. I use it to blast the dust out of everything; from electronics to stray cougars. Best part is it was free with a 2 battery/charger combo I was buying that day. Kobalt hooks it up.
It looks so much like the skil 10in table saw . I love my new skil 10in table saw it work very very good and dose ever thing i need it to do in my shop
They are both made by Chervon. That probably explains most of the similarities. I have the Kobalt and really enjoy it. I think its the best budget one especially when on sale which is when I bought it. The Skil and the Kobalt are both worth getting
@@jesse-j3bthe Skill supports most of the width of a standard 8” dado stack. The arbor isn’t long enough for the full stack. The maximum loading is in the manual.
I had a 10 inch Kobalt dual bevel miter saw that I had for years until I just recently upgraded to the 12 inch Dewalt (that I got for $399 thanks to your tool deals Matt). That Kobalt miter saw served me well for a while but the dual bevel lock was broken almost immediately after I bought it and no matter how hard I tried I could not get the blade square to the table, it was always about 1/16-1/8 off. There was a bit of deflection as well, NONE of that with the Dewalt. So I was impressed to see that table saw square out of the box and the rack and pinion fence. I’m curious how blade deflection would be after it’s broken in but that’s a nice budget job site saw.
Matt, you are right about the rack and pinion fence. I have the Metabo and I really love this table saw. 35” fence, 15 amp motor and it’s just a great saw. This is a good deal for a budget saw. Wish it had a stand like the Skill and the Metabo
The Ridgid contractor table saw R4560 is on sale for $399 at select Home Depots. You can use your military 10% off as well. There are a few in my area still available.
This was my first table saw and it served me so well! I upgraded to a contractor Shop Fox only because I wanted a larger table and more power... The Kobalt though, was all I needed it to be!
I bought the skill has many of the same features plus legs. Except for the noise it’s a great saw for a two car garage home shop. The other tool I will recommend is the Wen spiral planer, I bought carbide cutters for it and it is perfect for me. I have had good luck with Wen tools in general, I have a lot of dewalt tools also but for a part time home shop I have been pleased.
I started using this table saw March of 2023. It was the only saw at the sub-300 price that had all the features I was looking for including the fence. I really like it. Only a couple of issues; Several small screws fell off early in the usage of the saw. The ON button is so small, it's very difficult to turn on while wearing gloves. Other than these issues, it's a great saw.
Matt, thank you for all your tool reviews. They help me very much in choosing the tools I need for my shop. The table saw is my next purchase, and you have done a great job explaining the choices for beginners. Love your videos. Keep them coming.
Don’t buy this saw, pick up the skil saw with the stand. It’s higher quality and just as affordable. It beats this saw, and even better yet if you can grab the dewalt table saw it’s in sale for 330 right now but if you can’t afford that get the skil.
I would love to see you do more Kobalt reviews! They came out with a whole line of woodworking tools and it would be great to get your opinion on them.
Wow! That beats my 2nd hand (like new) Ryobi by a long way! It took me some time to get it all dialed in to even be usable at all. Love that fence. That has always been a problem point for me.
Glad you jumped on the review. I have been eyeing it but was wondering how it performed. I entered the contest and will wait and see. If not, I will jump on it out of pocket. Thanks for the great review.
Thanks for the review. I will be putting this on my list of saws to consider. I know it came square out of the box but it would have been nice to see how the blade gets set parallel and the mitter stops gets adjusted. These are 2 huge issues i have with my old Ryobi saw.
Looks like a great saw.Another option that you might want to suggest would be to build a small stand to put this saw on I.Imagine you have plans for that available.
I bought the model before this one for $249 with a stand. I love it except for the plastic plate. I made my own in short order, but I really like the saw. Lots of power and very accurate. I did have to run a dedicated circuit for it as the 15 amp breaker had to much other stuff on it as it kept blowing the breaker.
I bought the older version of the Kobalt saw. It worked great for me. My biggest complaint was the fence, but this version has a way better fence. The one I had had a folding base with wheels. That came in super handy for me til I could have a dedicate shop space
Cool! I've been looking to get my first table saw & I jumped on your RUclips tonight to see if you had reviewed this one yet and was totally stoked to see that this video had just been uploaded. Great timing! Big virtual fist bump to you dude!
Great review!! Thanks. @4:17 you need a larger square to really measure it as we can see this square was leaning since the surface is not even with the table surface :)
This looks great! I have moved away from needing a saw on a rolling stand (the bigger Skil was my plan) to wanting a more portable saw that I can store more easily. One thing I'm nervous about when I get back into this is safety using the table saw. Can I ask why you sometimes use a push stick and sometimes the Grr-ripper? What are the ideal use cases for each? Thanks!
Good video!! Looks like very good job site saw. All the cons that you have mentioned are common to most of the saws and are very easy attended. So if it's someone first saw or for more experienced on law budget it can be great deal just follow the tips at the end of this video and it will upgrade the saw on your woodworking.
I knew they made the smaller xtender fence that fit portable/job site table saws ~> I was happy to also find they had specific feather boards to fit too! Looking to add some of these other add-ons as well. I’m new-ish to woodwork and very new to the tablesaw. Was extremely lucky to have my dad give me his extra one recently. (He needed an extra one while remodeling/repairing my mom’s childhood home/farmhouse +an addition, “garden shed”, Sugarhouse, and huge barn with a few buddies)
Was hoping you'd mention the model# of the saw-- seems like it's the next generation of the one I bought around 2 years ago. Mine is the 10152 (which was next gen from 10151). Got it on sale for $299, down from $399. It has built-in folding stand with wheels. Was a great deal! I LOVE the upgrades Kobalt has made to this table saw. My fence is much different, but steady front to back. Works for me!
I still think the skill is a better value. It comes with a built-in stand and is only $20 more at full price but can usually be found for $269.99. They did also update the throat plate and it is now metal vs plastic.
I prefer the look of the Skil sadly but the larger rip capacity pushes this one over. Thanks for doing these reviews. I'm new to all of this and found out quickly that Ryobi I bought off a friend has got to go! The fence is rotten.
I have a 7yo Ridgid jobsite saw that has served me very well, similar price point, poor dust collection and fewer features. I definitely like the Kobalt/Dewalt type fence better but I have to say the Ridgid is easy to keep square. Curious to see how well the Kobalt holds up after a couple years of use.
Just moved to the US a few weeks ago and was eager to get my Workshop setup. You previous video, regarding the tools bought from Lowe's was helpful and I really wanted this table saw, amongst several other of the tools you recommended but Lowe's website did not accept my payment method. Decided to just go into the store near me and pick up these tools in person but seems they do not stock this table saw in store. Service in store was so bad I ended up leaving my trolley in the store and go to Home Depot. Ended up buying the Dewalt for an extra $120.
What can be done to the miter gage is to tap the side of the gage and screw in some Teflon or slippery set screws and adjust them to take up the play. It's just a fix for someone low on cash.
I have a metabo, and the one thing I noticed on this style fence, is at the wider extension, if your trying to keep wood against the fence the extension parts flex and make the fence wobble back and forth. other than that they work great if building into say a workbench maybe add weather strip brushes so as to brush the extensions so as to not flex when extended to or near max width
First coments, the Fence is a prime concern. I ended up with a Wen TT0811, and the Fence is absolute " Garbage." I am considering this model after seeing your show. Thanks Star
Well done sir. Is there any way to add a rack and pinion fence. I have a Craftsman 137.248830, it serves me well, but adjusting the fence is a pain to get square.
at 4:40 you could clearly see it is NOT square to the rail. There is a gap visible while 1 second later when square has moved to the front of the blade.
I would buy the skil saw , i have the circular saw and its very stout. the skil and DeWalt were my two options after using the Ryobi and rigid table saw which did not have good dust collection or rack and pinion fence which for me was a problem.
Soooo grizzly tools is having a big sale right now, but I never really here anything good or bad about the grizzly brand any thoughts on the brand or the sale?

Good video!! Looks like very good job site saw. All the cons that you have mentioned are common to most of the saws and are very easy attended. So if it's someone first saw or for more experienced on law budget it can be great deal just follow the tips at the end of this video and it will upgrade the saw on your woodworking.
I've got the $299 saw on wheels. I use a dado stack. It works great. I like the wheeled saw because I fold it and store it in corner of my garage.
Awesome video. You should check out the bourbon blade. It’s a folding pocket chisel for every day carry.
Thank you! Between this and the skil, which one is quieter?
Was hoping you'd mention the model# of the saw-- seems like it's the next generation of the one I bought around 2 years ago. Mine is the 10152 (which was next gen from 10151). Got it on sale for $299, down from $399. It has built-in folding stand with wheels. Was a great deal! I LOVE the upgrades Kobalt has made to this table saw. My fence is much different, but steady front to back. Works for me!
Great video as always Matt. Happy Anniversary to you and Amy 🎉🎊🙏🏻
As of today its $300 at Lowes with the stand.with the 32 inch cutting width compared to the 25 with the skil this saw is a steal
I still think the skill is a better value. It comes with a built-in stand and is only $20 more at full price but can usually be found for $269.99. They did also update the throat plate and it is now metal vs plastic.
I'll drink to that
The legs are a nice feature, don't have the space for an extra bench
This one has a higher rip capacity out of the box, though. I think that pushes it over for me.
do they sell the metal replacement throat plate?
The skill with stand is $299. The Kobalt with stand is $299. check the prices above if you don't belive me.
Does the skill accept a dado stack?
Thanks for the info! How's the noise level?
This saw would be perfect for what I need.
Thanks for the review Mighty Matt
I prefer the look of the Skil sadly but the larger rip capacity pushes this one over. Thanks for doing these reviews. I'm new to all of this and found out quickly that Ryobi I bought off a friend has got to go! The fence is rotten.
Thanks for this, love your videos, they're all very helpful.
So it is a blue Dewalt (and other) copy with a bigger blade. Love the fact it can take the dado blades.
I picked up the Skill for $299 last year. Doing just fine,
It's my anniversary today too! Happy anniversary sweetie! I'm super excited that Kobalt put out a Table Saw. I've had good luck with their stuff. :3
Thanks for this review. I can’t afford a sawstop and want one I can build an outfeed table around like the dewalt.
Plus much more in my budget.
Happy Anniversary to you both
Thank you!
Thank you for doing this.
Which one is best, 10” Skil table saw or the 10” Kobalt table saw?
Looking to get into wood working.
Would you recommend this over a dewalt or skil in your previous videos?
Is the blade-to-miter slot alignment as easy to adjust as on the Skil?
Thanks
Star
I bought one today from your link. I've been needing table saw for years and I can afford/ justify this year spending 279 + 23 tax.
What kind of 10-in table saw blade would you recommend???
In the Skill Video you talked about blade change and noise level. How does the Kobalt do in those areas?
Good luck to everyone who enters. It does look like a great saw.
Can we have your thoughts on how it compares to the Dewalt saw that you love?
Just looked at Lowes website and the saw is $219 with the feet and 249 with the stand that has wheels. So its a very good deal.
Very good review!
How does it compare to the 10 inch dewalt?
Best table saw I've ever owned was a Ryobi with out feed support, onboard collapsible stand and 25 side" extension
I would love to see a review of the Skilsaw SPT99-11. Not too many people cover that tablesaw and I would like your take on it.
You said the skill table saw is loud. What about the Kobalt table saw?
Well done sir. Is there any way to add a rack and pinion fence. I have a Craftsman 137.248830, it serves me well, but adjusting the fence is a pain to get square.
Looks like a great deal and it looks a lot like my Metabo except for the color. Happy Anniversary.
Is it better than the Skil?
I got the little sister of this one. All I could afford. That one has awesome features!
Very good Sir, I do need a portable saw for my job trailer
Looks very similar to the Metabo table saw. I have it and it works great.
Hey Matt. Happy Anniversary! Would you pick this saw or the Skil?
at 4:40 you could clearly see it is NOT square to the rail.
Pleas help...what do you recommand EVOLUTION R255 MTS or BOSCH GTS 254 od BOSCH PTS 10..THAK YOU FROM SERBIA
Soooo grizzly tools is having a big sale right now, but I never really here anything good or bad about the grizzly brand any thoughts on the brand or the sale?
Hope it works better than the one I got. I have to just about take it apart to get it to go up and down
is it loud?
When did this model come out
Happy anniversary 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
