Because of low production. An engineer of theirs already explained they produce at most 15% over preorders. If they produced millions of squares they'd be able to drop the cost a bunch through economy of scale, but they'd also have less control over accuracy and safe shipping. Which is an important lesson to all the people saying we should produce less stuff "for the environment". The only reason tomatoes are $1 a pound and not $6-8 a pound is overproduction.
Good to see Rikon has come out with wider jointers. Space is an issue, but with this, eventhough you can’t necessarily do long boards, it gives the smapper project a wider jointer.

My one wish is that manufactures would get away from calling their jointer/planer cutter heads like Rikons as "helical" or "helical style" and switch to "segmented". It is dishonest, I think, to use "helical" for this type, even though this "segmented" style they have has genuine benefits.

Oh Larry, bless your heart. You’re ignorant and you don’t even know it (I guess that is the definition of ignorance, ha). I know two professional woodworkers (each making $75,000 or more each year out of there apartment garages). Maybe take some high blood pressure medicine and realize you’re being obtuse. If someone wants to show off their $1200 shiny black and green thing on YT, welcome to America, ha. Most people on YT are showing off in one way or another and for one reason or another.
I’d like a domino jointer but I agree that festool is outrageously overpriced. At a certain point they made a decision to put a premium price on their products far beyond the production costs. It’s unnecessary…
Technically all of the JessEm products are imports since they are manufactured in my home country of Canada. Canada is not yet a part of the U.S. and thus have to be imported into the U.S. The JessEm squares are not shipping until the end of July, so technically not yet available (they are available to order). When you order, however, don't expect any kind of reasonable communication about when your order will ship. I bought the rulers, which showed up at my front door one day, and a week later received the notice that they were being shipped.
This matters because it sends money overseas. This helps the economy in other countries but it can negatively effect our economy. American made also was a sign of high quality. Not sure if it is still the case.

Dominos actually create stronger joints than dowels and way stronger joints than bisquits - bisqs. are just for alignement.
For a diy, dowels are totally fine but for a pro, dominos are a step up: faster and almost as strong as a tenon and mortise joint
I thought the festool dust extraction came on automatically, especially with there own tools?😂
I've got no volume
Thank you, Walrus Oil for planting trees… please plant more Purple Heart so the price can come down. 😬
why do people care so much about it being american made? i do not care where it is from as long as it is solic
This matters because it sends money overseas. This helps the economy in other countries but it can negatively effect our economy.
American made also was a sign of high quality. Not sure if it is still the case.
