The fact that they have collected a percentage of Sean’s wages for all these years and are now expecting a big payday to sell him for someone else to collect a part of his wages sounds eerily like a slave auction.
BuzzFeed ownership was a surprise. But income, not so much. It is basically the only “mainstream” spicy food marketing outlet. How they keep changing the sauces and white label their own ones, it makes perfect sense.
The sad thing is Hot Ones was created and promoted and the result of one guy, and he will never realized the value of what he created. He just a replaceable employee. Very sad.
Part of the gimmick was also "wow look at this young earnest guy that does his homework" which was considered novel because there's currently 17 different "allies" on life support on network tv.
I thought buzzfeed went out of business years ago. Always figured hot ones was hyper normie stuff but never watched it, guess buzzfeed ownership confirms that.
I doubt Hot Ones is running at a loss, it’s just not actually making anything close to make it worth $70 mill. I would imagine Hot Ones gets around $5 mill a year of profit after expenses, and I’m sure most of those expenses are massively bloated.

Never knew it was owned by Buzzfeed, lol. wtf
Nice profile picture
@@nicoruppert4207 Yours is better, not gonna lie.
Yeah not watching it now lol😂
They wouldn't sell it for $70M, If they can really get $30M/year. 😅😅😅
Something fishy 🐟🐠🐟🐠
I mean spicy 🔥🥵🔥🥵
President Javier calls this "accounting cosmetics"
Revenue $30/year
Expenses are probably close to $25/year or more

Never heard of _Hot Ones,_ and it sounds stupid.
I thought Buzzfeed died around 2015?
Lol, if I'd known I might have blocked it from my recommendations too! Well, it turned out for the best, it's an ok show to watch once in a while.
how many times can you film people eating a burger before it gets old and boring and fails
If they bring the same guest more than once

Sounds like the CEO of Buzzfeed needs to get on "Hot Ones" just to see what's really going on with the company...

holy hot sauce 🏺
Selling the only popular part of their brand, it's a bold move let's see how it pays off
Hot ones is a really good show, it’s like a late night show, but better, well thought out
I thought Hot Ones were some kind of spicy candy.
Hot what? Never heard of it.
Why pay $70 million when its free to make your own channel. Imagine how much hot sauce and wings you could buy with all the money you save.
How much is it worth? We only know that at the point of the sale.
Finally! Some good news!
We got the opportunity to buy Hot Ones before GTA6
We will get the opportunity to buy GTA6 before Half Life 2: Episode 3.
the recipe still is: get woke got broke.
If there is actual profit from hot ones. The share price would not drop 94%. Most probably it's running at a lost.

has there ever been a single successful SPAC?? 🤣
🙏 Ur SHOWS ARE ALWAYS A SORT OF SOME NUGGETS OF 🏅MIXED WITH SOME SWEET TEST OF 🍉n SOUR MILK 🍼4 THE HATERS ..🙏again 4 the info/ education.
Bruh, Vice was never new media neither was buzzfeed, both were just old media wearing a bad mask.
And wasnt Vice basically a front for the CIA?
No true Scotsman
Holy crap --- I can't believe you're serious. Using buzzfeed's failures to prove legacy media will prevail is just mind boggling.
1st
the irony here is that you are speaking on a 'new media' platform
True. But his show isn't just barely profitable even though it brings in 30 million in revenue.
