i really like lost planet 1 and 2 as guilty pleasures but after one trailer of this one i just ignored it. didn't even realize it came out. and for someone who follows games thats pretty bad.
I really liked Lost Planet 2 (the PC version at least), I've played it like 3 times with my brother. It had some fun boss fights, fun mech piloting, and some interesting gunplay where everything somehow still had a monster hunter-feeling impact to it.
As an actual Engineer I feel kinda obligated to mention that actual Engineering is almost totally mathematical in nature. Engineers rarely if ever do hands on work; they employ grunts to do that for them. Its more about modeling the behaviour of systems and then optimising them.
When i first played LP1 I was intrigued by what the game could offer in terms of lore, especially when it came to NEVEC. When I finally got around to getting LP2 I loved what it offered. An interesting story, a unique "loadout" system, and of course, customization. It let me make my own side stories (I tend to do that a lot ). When I saw what they were doing with LP3 I imminently lost interest. My biggest problem is that it feels too "Americanish". An easy way to explain that is by comparing Ghost Recon Future Soldier to MGS4 Guns of the Patriots. They are both stealth games and in the near future but you can tell that one is American and one is Japanese even though a lot of main characters in both are American.
I'm curious what about the depleting temperature gauge of Lost Planet 1 particularly irked Yahtz. He likes reasonable time limits in games to prove that there's a test of skill and capability (See: Katamari Damacy Reroll Review). Is it because the temperature gauge is refillable by killing enemies? I would see this as providing a further impetus for the player to move ahead boldly instead of dragging their heels.
1) not all ads are skipable 2) RUclips makes plenty of money with the current number of people using adblock, they also generate revenue through other means. 3) we have to see adverts every single day (on TV, when we are out and about on billboards, on buses, on trains) we get bombarded by them, so I think when at home using RUclips in leisure time you should be allowed to watch in peace. 4) Paid RUclipsr can also generate revenue through other means (merchandise etc).
yeah it way different from LP1/2 I thought it was bad until a gave it a chance and played it through I now think it's complete shit compared to how the others were
Jon Prz yeah I'm surprised until I watch this review that the reason why I'm playing it now and seems all right on its own merits but is a Lost Planet sequel It's not all bad but it's not all good either
THe protagonist of lost planet 3 is very human and likeable. The game is pretty good, people hate games because of what they expect it to be, not what it has.
am I the only one who thinks it's totally ok for a company to hire people to live on hostile planets? they didn't FORCE them to get a job with them, right?
Nah; I'm with you on that. However if you're living on a hostile planet, the company that has hired you should provide some form of protection for you to use.
Hopes And Curiosities actually, I disagree. the company should be forced to tell potential employees of the dangers of the job, and it would be a smart IDEA to give them protection, but they shouldn't be forced to provide protection. it's the employees own stupid fault for applying for a dangerous job
SurrealKeenan Valid point. I think the companies requirements are specifically the following. 1: Employees must be informed there is danger. 2: Employees should not be falsely led to believe the danger is less than it is. 3: The employee's should not be misled about what protections they have available; IE: If they ask if they will have protection, and the company says "There is machineguns"... there better be machineguns :P Assuming the company follows general courtesy like that (probably business laws, in fact), feel free to send people to live on a planet filled with people eaters!
Hopes And Curiosities couldn't agree more. the only realistic problem, however, is that it is very hard to accurately portray a level of danger. in the amazon, there is a little parasitic fish that will swim up a mammals pee stream and climb painfully into their kidneys. this sounds horrible, but is much less common or dangerous than say being attacked by a hippo on the nile river. through proper framing, the company can provide accurate information while making the situation seem far less dangerous. perhaps we need a government organization that deals with this kind of thing and checks for accurate description or, better yet, writes the description themselves
SurrealKeenan Yup Yup. The issue is; even with such laws in place, companies will as you said, attempt to misrepresent it. While we hope the government would keep them in line, that doesn't always work out, even right now; and we're only looking after a small portion of the world and we're failing. I can only imagine what slips past the radar in the space age. Games like this probably assume we're going to connect those dots on our own. But it's a big assumption that leaves far too many questions... :P
Not to mention some ads aren't that bad, I don't mind watching BF4 and other video game ads. As well, ads are usually customized by your searches since this is a Google based sight and you have to use a Google account to comment. So, everything you search, they know, and they then base ads off of what you search.
LP2 is the greatest third person shooter, I know its just his opinion but I've yet to spend so much time in any other shooter other than Unreal and still have so much fun with it to this day.
The problem with that is the fact that The Escapist owns the rights to his show. They also fund him and publicize. It'd be all around harder for him to branch off. He makes enough, and is popular enough, with The Escapist.
I'll be completely honest, I've done that - the headphones, I used stereos which gave the atmosphere a more realistic feel. But either way, Dead Space was still "oh, an air vent, NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN NEAR THAT!"
This is so funny! I LOLed at some funny bits, especially with the cute imps, the fire in the game, and drifting off to sleep, with a sexy robot in between! :D
Yo McMinerTron It's been 2 months - I'll just assume that by now your "ass-couch" has more white stains than the moon has craters. If it doesn't, shame on you mate.
I actually thought that the way the game worked in Lost Planet 1, regarding the health and the heat system was pretty cool and added a layer of difficulty to it, not only do you have to keep yourself alive, you also need to get yourself warm, in any other game like this it would0ve been awesome, it would've been an amzing to recreate in DS3 which was mostly shite.
Yes, the way you had to kill to survive (and to actually collect all this orange goo in the middle of the fight) was very well implemented. And the best guns in game worked on this energy too, which means they effectively worked on your life. That was just too good. And of course the gradual increase in robo-quality was amazing too. From limping metal skeleton to flying mobile tank. It was a good game, because it done something better than any other game. Second and third games suck, because they don't do anything better than other games. At all.
Lost planet 1 also had one of the best multiplayer experiences in my opinion, atleast when people were not playing in the same age old maps with rocket launcher or sniper only. too bad nobody is playing it anymore
***** i never got to play it, mostly because at the time i only played games for the single player back in 2008 before all the multiplayer hype started with MW2
Then get your hearing checked out, because the quality does affect the audio. You probably won't notice it via your testing methods simply because of the new way Google has made RUclips videos load. They no longer buffer continuously, but buffer in segments, and changing qualities doesn't take effect, or change anything until it attempts to buffer the next section. Yay HTML5. Either way, it does affect the audio, even if you can't perceive it.
There's also the matter that (saying Google bought RUclips) AdBlock is available on google's app store, why would Google market a product that would hinder their revenue
Look on the Escapist website. The Beyond: Two Souls review is already up, since they are uploaded there one week in advance. It's a kind of review you'd expect from Yahtzee. In short, it rips it apart.
But his original favorite game is Fantasy World Dizzy, he has a 1-hour let's play of it on his original channel Yahtzee19 Also sorry for the double post, this should've been part of the first post
I didn't mind the gimmick in the first Lost Planet, reminded me a lot of The Thing PS2 game. Everything is broken, so not everything is going to be able to warm you up. Islands of hospitality on a frozen ocean trying to kill you. The enemies were weaksauce though, the environment was your true enemy.
The Lost Planet franchise is having a sale on Steam now, and this video was in my main RUclips page. I wonder if the latter is the reason for the former.
Also, just because you don't see people in RUclipsrs merch, doesn't mean they aren't buying. Not alot of people want to wear a pewdiepie or tobuscus t-shirt out in the open. And if it wasn't beneficial to them (i.e. not making a profit, or breaking even) then they wouldn't be selling any merchandise.
Then put in headphones, because if you can't tell the difference between 720 audio and 144, then you need your hearing checked. The difference is grating.
I know what ads are, and why they are important. There is absolutely no need to try and patronise me by calling me a '15yr old teenager'. If I want things like RUclips I DON'T have to sit through ads, because I have adblock. If I can skip ads entirely then I will, like I said, I am subject to them in normal everyday life I should be entitled to some peace. If it is such a problem for RUclips and RUclipsrs, then they would ban the adblock software from being used on their site.
An excellent example is his Fallout New Vegas review. An interesting game, although, sort of an expansion bluntly. But it still was a great review on there, a new spin on the usual. And much more funny.
Keep RUclips free, with the only cost a few seconds of your time, I'm 15, and I don't really mind ads, since I remember they keep sites like this free. It would suck if common sites we had to pay a monthly fee to use, the entire concept of "Broadcast Yourself" would be lost
Let me just say that Lost Planet is NOT for everybody. Its a game that not a lot of people know of it, but actually has a pretty good fan base. Lost Planet was a GREAT game to me, and Lost Planet 2 was fucken fun and addicting when it came down to if you were a fan of the series. I have not yet played Lost Planet 3, but I plan to.
If anyone is interested, Yahtzee's review of Beyond:Two Souls' is up on the Escapist website. Oh man... Oh man! If you thought the comment section was polarized in the GTAV review, just you wait until this hits RUclips next week ; )
1) people pay more money for unskippable ads. 2) HOW DO RUclips MAKE MONEY FROM ADBLOCK?!?!? 3) no, that's not how the world works 4) the youtuber can yes, but google needs money as well to keep up the site and profits (as it is a business)
Not really, devs never tried to take down a ZP video as far as i know, and it is not like he's not a known person on the internet, he's been around for several years.
Yes, since I watch a lot of gaming videos, it gives me a lot of gaming ads. Some get repetitive sure, but in the end, we keep RUclips free. Still, it is kind of weird that google knows everything about us :P
Let's all just sit around and appreciate the phrase "irresponsibly old man."
so how many of us don't even want these games but just want to hear Yahtzee slag them off
Shouldnt it be all of us? You don't go to yahtzee for game purchase recommendations. Yahtzee is just entertainment.
Yup
I would honestly like to play Lost Planet. Combat on an ice planet with machine suits and giant insects sounds awesome!
Why would you have a mech suit and no guns?
Get back in your Lead Coffin, Sir Francis.
Yes, sir.
Ask Subnautica. They talk up the Prawn suit so much, but it’s ultimately like controlling a big rock’em sock’em robot
Late response. But G Gundam should answer your question.
Probably insurance rates
Lost planet 2 is great to play with friends!
Yes it is.
Hey now, I enjoyed Lost Planet 2. Yeah, it was insane, but it was fun to play with friends.
Yea it was amazing!
"Canada"
lmao I love the fact that whenever he mentions accents he always gives examples of there meanings but he blatantly just says Canada for canadians lol
It's not a well known fact that saying Canada is just as much up there as 'eh?', 'aboot', and 'sawry!' for us :P or else no one else would say it.
Canada
Aww...
Lost Planet 2 Co-Op campaign was probably the most most fun I had with my buddies when we stayed up all night to beat it
Lost Planet 2 is one of my favorite games. Its sad, one day I got on to play the multiplayer and nobody was playing anymore :(. Its such a fun game.
okay, last episode of the night. god forbid I binge anymore
CraftKitty it never ends dude...
Me everyday
i really like lost planet 1 and 2 as guilty pleasures but after one trailer of this one i just ignored it. didn't even realize it came out. and for someone who follows games thats pretty bad.
2:40 This is Yahtzee, back together
"All Jim can do is back up and shoot like a heroin addict looking for a good parking space"-- almost missed it xD
Man, I remember playing Lost Planet 2 when I was seven w/ my cousin, It was awesome
This guy could easily make his own youtube channel, it would have millions I swear
it happened
I really liked Lost Planet 2 (the PC version at least), I've played it like 3 times with my brother. It had some fun boss fights, fun mech piloting, and some interesting gunplay where everything somehow still had a monster hunter-feeling impact to it.

Anyone else on a zero punctuation marathon?
Dat profile pic. Stop peeping pervy sage.
What?! I'm just doing some research...
+Yatsi Kaamrev WEAAAAABOOO!
+Hadouken714 WEEEEEAAAAAABOOOOO!
Kroatowa WOOOOOORRRRRRDSSS!!
This is the kind of comment that deserves top comment. Not that debate over ad-block and the need for RUclips to advertise or whatever bullshit.
I'm curious what about the depleting temperature gauge of Lost Planet 1 particularly irked Yahtz. Yahtzee...do you watch One Piece?
i dont see the reference...
Bob Bobington I Think he means that it sounds similar to the character Franky.
.......OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH....ok thx broh:3
wait a minute there's a Lost Planet 3?
yeah
it way different from LP1/2
I thought it was bad until a gave it a chance and played it through
I now think it's complete shit compared to how the others were
Jon Prz yeah I'm surprised until I watch this review that the reason why I'm playing it now and seems all right on its own merits but is a Lost Planet sequel It's not all bad but it's not all good either
yes and it's glorious :D imo atleast that is..
THe protagonist of lost planet 3 is very human and likeable. The game is pretty good, people hate games because of what they expect it to be, not what it has.
Oh wow I actually remember seeing Lost Planet trailers as a kid. Also I LOVE how Canad's accent is to say "canada" XD
first of your videos i have ever seen. it was so awesome that i liked, subscribed, commented and all that shit. great job!
IMHO, I think Lost Planet 2 was the best in the series. I hope Capcom hasn't given up on it.
***** To be fair, they were more focused on the multiplayer aspect than the story, but yeah. Could've been better.
True
So right about Lost Planet 2.
Doesn't have the same feeling, watching TV with your family and watching a computer screen.
I keep looking for places in my day to day conversation to fit in the sofa cushion line.
am I the only one who thinks it's totally ok for a company to hire people to live on hostile planets? they didn't FORCE them to get a job with them, right?

Yes, it also enhances the sound quality.
'Bath tap Halloween costumes' XD
ok srsly this is starting to feel supernatural he's making claims and having them come true, Yahtzee please be my master! :D

good thing I pirated it, lol.
Thank you for the amazing RP podcast. I love you!
My couch has an actual ass literally i bought it off of eBay and thought it was a normal couch when it turned up it had an ass on it.
Yo McMinerTron It's been 2 months - I'll just assume that by now your "ass-couch" has more white stains than the moon has craters.

Aliencubed? Why are turning Dan into an alien now
But his original favorite game is Fantasy World Dizzy, he has a 1-hour let's play of it on his original channel Yahtzee19

im glad i wasnt the only one thinking LP3 and DS3 shared so many things before the games actually released
hahah that heroine joke was the best xD
you are a genius
What Have I Learnt Today? That Being Sarcastic Will Help You Predict The Future

It's fun to sometimes watch a ZP video without any sound and try to determine what he's talking about.
I had no idea it did that. Thanks.
I am Canadian and I approve this message.
Good critique. Either way, I'll be getting this for Christmas.
I'm watching a playthrough of this and he's totally right about how the voice actors sound like they're too close to their mics
he already does, he does short let's plays every once in a blue moon.
Also, just because you don't see people in RUclipsrs merch, doesn't mean they aren't buying. Not alot of people want to wear a pewdiepie or tobuscus t-shirt out in the open. Dead Space has the atmosphere of a freshly emptied can of tomato sauce. It continues to baffle me how people think it's scary.
He has a top 5 of all time list
I know Portal, Silent Hill 2, Spiderman 2, and one of the Prince of Persia games are on there
The power of adblock is a great one.
I'm English. A subtle difference, I know; but a bloody important one.
Was the sexy robot bit at 4:20ish a Mr weebl reference to his song sexy robots? I wonder...
Yes a new video!
I can't wait to see him review Wind Waker HD
I actually want Yathzee to review BF4 and him stomp on our dreams about destructable enviroments
Ha, adblockers. The one saving grace of watching youtube on a mobile device is that the adblocker is basically built in.
Then put in headphones, because if you can't tell the difference between 720 audio and 144, then you need your hearing checked. The difference is grating.
Yes he has...
It was awesome.
I really liked that review too.
I saw the title for this and immediately went OH FUCKING GOD WHY DID THEY MAKE ANOTHER ONE
Lost planet is a series I've always wanted to try
Play first two, forget about 3-rd part
Frenchman: Alors
Australian: G'day
Canadian: Canada
🤣
The Robot walkers are the highpoint of this series they should've/need to add more of that!
I know what ads are, and why they are important. There is absolutely no need to try and patronise me by calling me a '15yr old teenager'. If I want things like RUclips I DON'T have to sit through ads, because I have adblock. If it is such a problem for RUclips and RUclipsrs, then they would ban the adblock software from being used on their site.
Can't wait to see him review Two Souls.
The best part about the upcoming Call of Duty game is that I get to see Yahtzee review it.
An excellent example is his Fallout New Vegas review. An interesting game, although, sort of an expansion bluntly. But it still was a great review on there, a new spin on the usual. And much more funny.
If you havent already, could you please do the Stanley Parable? Its simply hilarious.
This guy's metaphors just kill me haha, so great. "It's like trying to fuck a sofa cushion without an appropriate level of determination"
He's played Stanley's Parable and I think he likes it. I'm not sure he'll make a Zero Punctuation of it. Its on Extra Punctuation.
Keep RUclips free, with the only cost a few seconds of your time, I'm 15, and I don't really mind ads, since I remember they keep sites like this free. It would suck if common sites we had to pay a monthly fee to use, the entire concept of "Broadcast Yourself" would be lost

If anyone is interested, Yahtzee's review of Beyond:Two Souls' is up on the Escapist website. Oh man... Oh man! If you thought the comment section was polarized in the GTAV review, just you wait until this hits RUclips next week ; )
This was funny even though i really enjoyed lost planet 3
1) people pay more money for unskippable ads. 2) HOW DO RUclips MAKE MONEY FROM ADBLOCK?!?!? 3) no, that's not how the world works 4) the youtuber can yes, but google needs money as well to keep up the site and profits (as it is a business)
this is one of the best ones
It's on Xbox gold rn
Oh I've been WAITING for this...
