I remember playing the demo on the 360 way back then. I always liked the aiming style of this game, feels unique to Lost Planet. It was one of the last of the third-person shooters before they slowed down and became over-the-shoulder clones.
Online multiplayer in this game was my first experience ever and it had such a high skill ceiling. You could also perma loop-de-loop around a bridge on one of the maps and it was so hard to kill you if you did

The lost planet trilogy is quite special to me. The first game was one of the first games I ever played when I was young and left a permanent impression on me. Back then I didn’t even know it’s name so I just called it “snow game” and since then I’ve had a soft spot for snow levels in games. Then the second game was not only one of my all time favorites it’s also where I met my oldest and bestest friend online. It was fun to go through the game as Marcus from gears of war which was another childhood game of mine. Then when the third game came I still quite liked it even though it was very different from the other two. Looking back on them now I don’t quite enjoy them as much but they’ll forever hold a special place in my heart and mind.
Omg. You opened up a part of my brain that hasn’t been accessed in so long. I can barely remember much about my childhood but this game was awesome. I can’t remember if they had a second game so I can’t remember if it was this game or the second but I remember being in the mechs and shooting those aliens in the snow. Those little packs on their back is iconic.
Protip: don't play local co-op on the sequel. It basically does the usual top and bottom split screen, but for some reason, half of each screen is taken up by a massive black box with the regular radar/minimap in the center so you're basically getting the same playable viewing space as a 4 player co-op, and on the kinds of TVs we had when I was still rocking the 360 meant your area on-screen was like 6" x 6"
