Dudeeeee just binge watched all your tattoo videos... by far the most informative videos I have came across, I'm 20 years old get my gun in a month or so, I've been practicing so many ways hahaha, love it man cheers.
That's awesome man appreciate you taking the time to watch them all. And thank you I'm glad you're enjoying them!👍 Keep on practicing and when you think you can't do it.... just keep on trying, because the journey is worth it. 🤘
I just wanted to say, I have been using your videos to teach myself to tattoo for a few weeks now. I am a total beginner and you have given me so much confidence & knowledge. And your personality is the perfect mix of humourous and informative. No other videos I've watched even come close! You have a new life-long fan! Thank you so much!
WOW thank you soo very much Shana!! Really do appreciate the kind words!! And im happy to hear the vids are helping you out. And again thank you for the support, Keep at it and Keep Rocking🤘🤘🤘
Great tip . I would also recommand getting a mathemathics notebook and simply start fallowing the lines but try and do the in all directions , up down , left right and vice versa .
IG account: @daveinks.88 Thanks for watching guys👍 Let me know if you have any questions. Also I have added some links to "some" of the equipment and supplies I use that are obtainable from Amazon. I will keep updating the list as I try new things. Not all the equipment I use is available on amazon but I will do my best to link you guys with new equipment and supplies as time goes on. Thanks again everyone for watching!! You guys and gals are amazing!! 🤘
Im surprised by the quality of your videos dude, very down to basics, very informative, love it! As a tattoo apprentice, your videos are a gold mine! Thanks dude 👊
I am new to the art of tattooing. I can draw and paint. But tattooing is something I have desired to take on for quite a while now. And let me tell you, I have learned soooooo damn much from YOU! And Ben fisher. By just watching all your guys videos, and ALL the FREE knowledge you guys have shared with us . Seriously, TY for all that you do! And TY for your service soldier! 💯🤘🖤 God bless always 🙏
Also I have done some pieces on real skin but I’m going back to fake skin which I’ve only used once but I would like to send you a couple pics of my past work for critic to your Gmail
Stumbled upon your videos and WOW am I blown away with how relatable, informative, and easy to follow they are. Really appreciate you putting those willing to learn and wanting to learn on to game. Look forward to everything you put out
Thanks you I appreciate that 👍. I try my best to make the videos as direct and informative as I can, so I’m glad to hear you enjoy them. If you have the passion and patience then anything is possible! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel much appreciated 🤘
Thank you for your time and efford in making thos videos im new in the tattoworld alote to learn and try working in fruits and fakeskin atm sem all your videos and it have help alote
brush pens work great for this as well ! when you press harder on the pen it becomes thicker so try and get even thickness lines letting you know you are floating them needles!!!
idea for a next video: get a list what to do before we grab the machine, for example: do we need to learn how to draw first, if we do what to draw for tattooing, after that some good excercise like this one
My english is no good, but i must try to seay thanks for your inspirasjone video.u are a good model fore young kids.hwat you sead is exactly wath a young person neads to hear. My self are only a old gay from norway trying to learn the basicks. Tanks, and keep up the good videos. Karl
Welcome Alina from Germany!! 👍👍👍 Im happy to hear you found the channel as well and I really do appreciate your support!! Stay motivated stay focused!! 🤘🤘
More to come each week🤘. I will be covering how to tattoo and other topics surrounding tattooing as a whole that a lot of people have questions about. There will be more tattoo instructional video as time goes on as well. I' Glad the videos are helping you👍 And thanks for watching Jay I appreciate your support!
Just starting out and your videos are amazing. So informative detail oriented but also very easy to digest. Keep them coming, hope you get to get a tattoo one day by someone who started out by watching your vids
im excited to see more..this pandemic effect is crazy u need to find anything that u can learn like this..good thing that i have found you here in youtube..im so interested now to try to be a tattoo artist..but the problem is financial hahahahhahha...but i hope one day i can able to have mine too...i love the way you teach people...i like u so much..hahhahha
Glad to hear you found tattooing and I hope that you are able to give it a try and see if its something you want to purse. And yeah the financial part can be a bit rough but maybe try a little at a time plus you can always upgrade as you go if you find its something you want to do. I wish you the best of luck Aguilar and Keep Rocking!! 🤘🤘
I saw another video where he took a fountain pen and attached it to his machine and would draw on people while dealing with the vibrations from the machine. So you have more control and your lines arent shaky. Would you be able to do the same thing?
My name is actually Samm (Samantha) . I got my first tattoo at 38 yrs old. Then I got 2 more within 10 days! I quickly realized this was going to get very expensive. In my family we are crafty artistic witches, so I researched the Art of tattooing and soon purchased my first machines, supplies, ink, and of course PPE. I’ve been self tattooing ever since. I’m 50 this year! 😁. As a personal rule I only tattoo myself and family. I love it! But I’m definitely no professional. Your tips are very helpful. And the style in which you teach makes the knowledge you have very easy to learn ( from my perspective). Do you work much with color? I’m specifically interested in creating like gradient color.... to fill in the many flowers I have lined on my legs. Can I use your technique you use with diluting black ink... with color inks?
@@ArtSomething I am just starting my journey trying to do it as safe as possible and learn the best I can when I have time apart from my day job as an electrician stay safe know this time and make sure you stock up on your tp lol 😂
Thats awesome to hear your starting things off right 👍 No need to be in a rush, this is a journey and im glad your taking your time and doing things to the best of your ability. Best you can do is be as clean as possible and practice as mush as possible🤘🤘
I'm am extremely interested in beginning to learn how to tattoo. Love your videos. Thank you my Brother. Definitely love this video to remind yourself of hand pressure control. I see that you are using the same or similar grip on the felt tip pen as you do on your tattoo pen. I think that's an amazing way to practice gripping and hand control. Can you explain what that grip is and also the tattoo pen you are using? Thanks in advance for all time and also for your great vids. Cheers my Brother. Aaron
Thank you Aaron!! I use sport wrap to wrap my machine and practice equipment to give a similar feel to holding my machine. I believe I have the sports wrap linked in the description of the video. Thanks again Aaron!! 🤘🤘
I'm pretty new and teaching myself from RUclips channels like this. Sometimes I pull such a clean nice line then right next to it it looks like I sneezed half way through that line. It's rough.
I deff understand what you mean as I still have days that feel like that. Just keep at it and keep trying to do your VERY best with every line. Stretch good, get the right angle and try to remind yourself that each line matters. You got this and thanks for the support Peach!🤘🙏
This dude is so helpful. I just hit the like button before I even start to watch his videos. Thanks a lot man! if we were friends. I’d buy you some crayons. Rrraaahh!!
Just getting into tattooing. Been drawing for years. This is interesting. Question.. Do you ever overlap your lines? Man, when drawing I can never pull off a solid line with just one motion. That's just not how it works for me 🤔
Same drawing and tattooing are similar but very different and requires you to learn new skills. Stick with it and eventually it will get easier. Hang in there and Keep Rocking!! 🤘🤘
looks like a painting technique. If you do the same thing with a. pointed brush and either watercolor or ink. You find your not really pressing the brush down but transferring the paint from the tip to just barely touching the paper. Its really cool to see the similarities.
No worries, I decided to sub to you channel after seeing that your putting out valuable information and not just hype. I look forward to seeing more video's and will try an leave a comment everytime to help you out. Thank you for making you channel.
This background music is sooo relaxing :) can you give a song name? By the way, thank you sooo much for your tips, youre such a warm, tallented and positive personality :)
Sorry I can not remember...I need to start writing down the name of the songs I use cause you guys keep asking and I keep forgetting lol. Moving forward I am going to try to remember to add the music artist in the description. And thank you so Isabelle thats really nice of you and I truly do appreciate it!! 🤘🤘🤘
Yes you can use pigskin to practice I have heard its the best besides real human skin. I have not used actual pigskin but again its a great learning tool if you have access to it.
What grip do you use for the pen? Anything specific? I've been drawing for years and have those and others for ink drawing. I did poke tattoo in my teens and have a pretty fair amount of decent stuff expecially for how young and unexpirenced I was, not to mention unknowledgable on tattooing. I am now 36 and decided I'd really like to get in to tattooing since I really love art. I signed up for your giveaway on you q2 and although I never am one to win drawings I'm hoping I will get lucky. I want to get a machine but there's so many choices. In your opinion what type is best for learning a machine. What tips work best for coil and rotary? My husband has been super supportive of the whole idea and has volunteered to be a practice canvas so I'm not just doing myself, fake skin and fruit. Would really appreciate your time and input. I've been watching all your videos and I really appreciate your dedication to passing on your knowledge and experience to those wanting to learn like myself. Other channels are far less informative and you can see their lack of experience. A student is only as good as the teacher and not everyone has access to someone in a shop expecially since the pandemic. Anyways hope you have an amazing day and I look forward to your reply. Thanks in advance!
The advanced version of this was what I learned from my mentor same pen type but use felt it helps control hand speed and depth as well because the felt will simulate blowouts.
Hey, thanks so much for your videos, they are super informative and easy to follow - I have a question - I'm an apprentice and I've been told by some artists not to pull a line back towards me while tattooing, like to only move the machine side to side, and by others that there's nothing wrong with it. I noticed when practicing on fruit that my lines don't seem to come out bold enough when I'm pulling back towards my hand, they're kinda scratchy - can you explain the reason behind this? Also, is there a reason why some artists prefer a 90-degree angle and some 45-degree? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks x
Thank you EVil I appreciate that!! When it comes to lining its really all personal preference meaning what works best for that person. Though when in an apprenticeship your mentor usually teaches you how they tattoo because they have been doing long enough to know what works best or at least what works best for them. This is why you if you went to three different shops and had three different apprenticeships you would potentially learn three different techniques on how to tattoo. So keep working on it mess with the voltages, hand speed and what not cause eventually you will find that sweet spot. Keep at it you got this and stay motivated!!! 🤘🤘
Do you have any tips for curved lines? I do brows so I work with 1RL and they're pretty unforgiving. Trying to practice my machine hairstrokes without making lines that look like lightning bolts LOL. I can manage straight ones pretty well though.
Hi I am a tattooist that does microblading too. I would suggest creating your curved lines from your wrist. Hold the wand steady in a locked hand hold and move in an ark from the wrist. Hope that helps 😉
I cannot seem to figure out how not to make “points” in my tracing. I’m required to use a micro pen and I have been trying to practice the “airplane” method and it’s just not clicking for me. I’m getting frustrated I just started my apprenticeship a month ago and feel like this simple task shouldn’t be an issue but it is.
hello sir ..i m from india..do u own any kind of tattoo school so i can get admission into it..or something alse way so i can came to u for my further journey??
You can also use fountain/calligraphy pens to practice line work as it forces you to run the lines at a 45 degree angle like you need to do with a machine... Just an extra tip.
hi , wouldn't it cause blowouts due to the machine angle not aligning with the lines? i mean the direction your pen is going onto the paper is diagonal , a bit from the right ,instead of from the top when pulling a line.
No blowouts are from going to deep. If you run at an angle the needles have a better chance of depositing more of the ink in the correct layer of skin. At least this is what I have found.
While im doing a tattoo the ink just seems to be spitting out and getting everywhere and the lines come out so thin to where I have to go over it repeatedly, if u can please help me out with some advise I'd really really appreciate it. Thanks
I just started tattooing for the first time ever. My lines are decent on practice skin but always come out thin and light where I have to go over it multiple times. What am I doing wrong ? Also I’ve tried tattooing on myself and it turned out horrendous should’ve probably practiced a little more
It's for this reason I always preach practice practice practice before you start tattooing yourself. This isnt as easy as it looks and take a good bit of practice. I would say You may need to stretch the skin more and don't be as afraid to ensure those needles are actually penetrating deep enough into the skin to make a nice line. However you hand speed could be to fast as well. THere are a LOT of things that could be going wrong. I would say watch the video on how to find the proper needle depth for you. THis video should help explain what I'm saying. Keep practicing and eventually things will start to make more sense. And Thanks for watching Flame appreciate it!! 🤘🤘
Art-Something thank you for replying I have so much respect for your videos and work you put into teaching. Keep up the great work we appreciate it !!! Thanks for the advice as well.
Honestly I think the best you can do to improve your line work is get plenty of rest, be sure you're well fed, and practice practice PRACTICE. Edit: this actually seems like great practice. I would say to go a step further put the marker in a machine and do it while the machine is running so you get a feel for it.
Oh that’s awesome it’s a nice desk. I’m going to be changing desks some time soonish, just because I want my desk to be on wheels for filming but nonetheless I really do like that desk.👍👍🤘👍👍

Where did you get your tattoo pen from
I cannot seem to figure out how not to make “points” in my tracing.
Great tip as well Kevin and thank you for sharing that brother!!🤘🤘
I didn’t expected that It takes that less pressure to make outlines. For shading probably the same I guess?
hi , wouldn't it cause blowouts due to the machine angle not aligning with the lines?
i mean the direction your pen is going onto the paper is diagonal , a bit from the right ,instead of from the top when pulling a line.
Thanks
Sounds like you are not going deep enough and possibly to fast. What type of machine are you using?
sir what is the difference between stroke and give/hit
He's trying to tell me something I just know it 🤣
thanks.
No problem Jay!! 🤘🤘
So quick question, my ink when I go to practice tattooing seem to just spray everywhere, any tips or advice?
Jade Clark Bend needle bar so the needles are on the bottom of the tube may help. Also turning down power supply might help.
whats the song called?
Honestly I think the best you can do to improve your line work is get plenty of rest, be sure you're well fed, and practice practice PRACTICE.
Edit: this actually seems like great practice. I would say to go a step further put the marker in a machine and do it while the machine is running so you get a feel for it.
Any idea on how to incorporate a marker or pen in a cartridge tattoo machine?
@@raulhurtado2147 that's a good question. Perhaps if you cut down a bic pen it might fit in. Just be careful not to get ink everywhere.
Omg this is probably so random but I have the same desk that I draw on
😂😂
Oh that’s awesome it’s a nice desk. I’m going to be changing desks some time soonish, just because I want my desk to be on wheels for filming but nonetheless I really do like that desk.👍👍🤘👍👍
I hope this tip helps you guys: Hehe.. no pun intended lol
here
Thanks again brother! Hope all is well for you during this crazy time man.
Am i the only one who can hear the sound of the tattoo machine when he is using the marker? :D
i think with a brush pen it would be even better
I agree with you there!! Anything with a soft tip just so you can get use to floating a needle along without riding the tube. Thanks for watching Munch appreciate it man!! 🤘🤘
Huh that’s me bro I don’t have fake skin my wife is my canvas
I know what you mean.. my wife was trooper for me too and helped push me and was my canvas. 🤘🤘
