It looks like many parts were removed prior to starting. I am considering whether it would be best to go from the top or bottom of the car.
Did you not need a shim? Does it make a loud screech when you start it?
No and no it doesn’t.

I have a 2011 and it looks nothing like this. Mine is a 2.0 and the starter is not in that location nor is the oil filter.
2.0 starter is in the back and you can replace it from the top! ruclips.net/video/gpFCAuB2zBs/видео.html this guy shows how to do it
@@JonathanB822 He shows how to get to it and I already took it out. I simply can not get the bolts started on the new one.
Is that the 2.0?
Xj Man Base model 1.6, may be similar, but likely a different process and part.
Shame that they put it behind the engine in the 2010 model... Twice the pain in the ass to get to.
Make sure you get your year right...2011 is an 8 tooth. 2012 is 11 tooth. Whoops
Also...not sure how you had so much space to work in the video. That second bolt holding the starter on was tough to get at
Yeah, wouldn’t want to buy the wrong year for sure. I had so much space because I took off more than absolutely necessary in order to show the process on the video better.
