I have one coffee grinder exclusively for coffee beans and another for everything else. Never considered grinding up chia seeds. Love, love, love them and even add a bit to the pet food I make. I have sooo many food allergies so must make everything from scratch. Chia seeds are an ideal thickener for salad dressings, soups, and stews. Grinding them will make it more digestible for sure for my fur kids and me. Thanks for posting this! 🌲❤🐶😽😻❤🌲
so informative and helpful. I just needed to make sure i was storing them correctly. thank you.
Thank you for all the info on storage, uses, and the powder. I'm a big chia fan and always curious of other ways to utilize it!
Thank you for the helpful tip
Chia, flax and hempseed are a Fantastic mix for all those omega that you need
Cool beans! Glad I found you on YT, my friend!
Love this thanks
I love chia seeds in my oatmeal. I never thought of grinding it or putting it into some of the other dishes you mentioned, but it sounds like something I'd like to try. Thanks for the inspiration!
Glad you found some new uses for chia, Brenda!
I grind mine now. Supposedly it raises the ALA by 50+ %...
Loved this video
That's a great idea to use a coffee grinder!! Thank you for sharing!
Any time!
Thanks for this
Very good information
Thank you ❤️
My pleasure
Chia pudding is good. We put berries in ours. Sometimes cacao powder.
I'm learning how to love it (I have texture issues with yogurt being chunky lol). I have a few favorites that I visit often!
Overnight Oatmeal too. I dislike layering my my ingredients so the fruit powder you make would also work great for me. :)
Awesome! Glad it gave you an idea!
I've only used it to make crackers! This is great!!!
Hope it helped!
I would love that recipe. Chia crackers sound great!
I'd love a recipe as well if you're willing to share!
I ran the chia seeds in a Cuisinart Mini-Prep Plus Processor, and after 3 minutes they are barely ground. Any ideas?
If it's a food processor instead of a grinder, that's why - processors work a little differently and throw food out instead of pulling it in.
Can u put the Chia powder in gel capsules and consume the Chia seed that way?
You could.
I wanted to add...it seems a lot of work for something that you can just sprinkle on food or put in drinks to use. I'd save that work for something else, honestly.
Can you long-term storage Chia seeds? I want to do it with my alarm bags in oxygen and sell cars. Would you know how long that will last? Or if I can do it?
I'm not sure what this means: " my alarm bags in oxygen and sell cars". Can you explain that more so I can answer fully?
@@ThePurposefulPantry I think she means a bug out or grab and go bags that you use when leaving in an emergency.
Do you grow it too and what is the best way to?
Unfortunately, no.
How long can I store chia seeds
Until they turn rancid - depending on your temperature, how you store them, could be a year, could be more, could be six months.
Does it taste good once it's ground?
It tastes the same. It's just chia seed - you haven't changed anything else about it.
I am in your Dehydrating group and I found this video while looking at your homemade Brown Sugar video! (thanks!) Anywho, you mentioned using Chia as an egg substitute. Can you clarify that? Thanks!
1 TB chia seeds, 3 TB water let soak, and it's a gelatinous substance that can replace eggs.
@@ThePurposefulPantry Interesting. You know I'm going to try that now. LOL! Thank you for all you do, it is very appreciated.
