Well the queen was going to die anyway, c-section or not. The baby was in the wrong position so it would've torn her apart and she would've died from blood loss. And the baby would've died too due to lack of oxygen. So the king tried to save the child at least before it was too late for both. Very sad for the queen but the king clearly was very sad about it. so funny how the episode plays out to make Daemon to be the bad guy and seems like he will go against his brother in his lust for the Throne...and they paint Otto and the council as trying to give the best council they can to help but in reality Daemon is right...Those guys are just trying to position themselves better and sadly, we all know how it goes in Westeros lol.....Otto sending his young daughter to the king is just him maneuvering
It’s interesting that every time Daemon succeeds at something, Otto Hightower finds an excuse to manipulate Viserys into taking the position away - he was “too harsh” as the Master of Laws, spent too much money as Master of Coin, and the moment Daemon shows how effective he is as Commander of the City Watch, and has Viserys’ approval, Hightower makes a snide comment about Daemon ‘neglecting’ his wife. He jumped at the first opportunity to tell Viserys about the ‘heir for a day’ comment despite having no context: he paints it in the worst light possible to drive a wedge between Viserys and his only true protector, Daemon. Hightower knows the moment Daemon gains any power, he’ll have Hightower’s head.
Really? Otto pimping out his daughter should tell everyone he counsels keeping his own interests at heart. And Daemon was disliked by many due to his actions. He is a grey character. Not very likeable as per the books though very popular due to his rowdy ways.
he seems like a villaina t first but he is much more complicated than that, he clearly loves his brother and he loves Rhenyra very much , very grey character in my opionion who SPOILERS died as a hero
The woman we see repeatedly in the trailer is Princess Rhaenyra but older. According to the page Imdb, two actresses play her, so we're expecting a time jump.
The hand of the king is just out for himself, can't stand him, he needs to go. He's using his poor anxious daughter to comfort the king and eventually more so she's the next queen. He got Viserys to turn against Daemon when he truly cares for his family, i see that clearly and Daemon was spot on about Hightower and the council. I've noticed most reactors are assuming Daemon is some untrustworthy bad guy of the show, when in reality he isn't that bad and doesn't seem to be a threat to his brother or family at all.
Imo the hand of the king is looking out for the best for the realm. We saw how Daemon abused his power with the city watch, butchering random people for crimes of no evidence… he has every right to question him

Dude, why do people feel the need to spell things out like this? "he is flawed with a good heart" is literally more than enough of a spoiler. Let us wonder about the character's true nature for ourselves.
The way the camera goes soft whilst focusing on Viserys when he has to make the decision for the C-Section is so real to how true fear and horror and hopelessness feels, Then seeing him lose both was an ultimate gut punch.
True it was a very hard scene! Maybe I judged too early on his decision. The scene reminded me of Bridgerton where the mom was just gonna make it and they still wanted to make a choice between the mom and child, but in this case I think Aemma sadly would have died anyway..
@@LarissaZeeuwe I think we all make our judgment quickly because the show is only one episode in and we're yet to fully know these characters what they stand for, their motivations ext. However it’s true that everything so far has heavily hinted that he does care for his family (especially Rhaenyra) but that he’s also very flawed as a person and quite ambitious. In the books he’s described as both good and bad so it’s hard to describe him in any detail except that he’s quite a grey character.

I also smile everytime I see the dragons on screen because this show has the best looking dragons I have seen in a while. I suspect that the oath that King Viserys has made his lords swear fealty to his choice of heir (his daughter) will be critical - and come back to bite them later! This was the same situation faced by King Henry I of England, who (having also lost his only male heir) made his barons swear loyalty to his only daughter Matilda, as his heir. When Henry died, many of his barons refused to accept the idea of a Queen of England despite their promise, and chose her cousin Stephen of Blois instead. And so The Anarchy (1138-1154) began.
About the Viserys & Aemma in the childbirth, the maester said to the king that he should make a choice to save one or lose both, and that they could try save the child. Aemma was dommed already, since the baby couldn't get out (which is horrible - and more dreadful even if you think that this really happened sometimes in our history). It's not that he chose kill Aemma to save Baelon, but he had a choice to try save Baelon, killing Aemma, or let them both die during this childbirth... it's really sad (and shocking) PS: Personally, i don't really think there is a right or wrong decision (to let the mother or the child die), i mean, if you have to make that horrible choice (one or the other), the decision should rest in the shoulder of the one whose life is at the stake (in this case, the mother, she should decide if she wants to live or try to save the child) - but, that wasn't the case in this scene, the mother was going to die anyways.
What is your internship about? I love your reactions on GOT and Westworld, you seem so passionate about them, I'd wish you had more subscribers. This first episode was great!
This is House Targaryen. This child is potentially the future King. The heir to the throne trumps all. The kid was going to be born. I'm surprised that you being such a Targaryen fan would regard the future heir as "some kid you've never met".
i followed your reactions to GOT because we both had the same reaction to seeing dragons and the music. I was more a fan of the Starks then Dany but being a fellow female I deeply respect your fan favorite. Excited to see more dragons! Just be prepared for ppl and dragons dying in this show.
I know I'm arriving late. I know others have made the observation I want to make. (Found your channel through a compilation of reactions to the finale of The Walking Dead about a week or so ago, been through your entire TWD reactions., you earned my subscription, and to use a GOT reference, you paid the Iron Price for it.) A great number of reactors make the error of thinking Viserys had to choose between his wife and his unborn child. But this is not the choice before him. Act now to save the child, or lose them both. They would not take action to save the child because it would harm the queen, without the king's consent, but if they took no action mother and child would die. That's really not a dillema, but it is the queen, so even the highest maester will not presume that reaponsibility.
Very good reaction, thank you from Stockholm, Sweden. YOU look like a Targaryen 🙂 I felt stupid at the funeral, I thought that someone would shoot an arrow on fire, then "DRACARYS" (chills) - of course, DUH. House of the Dragon... Feel like at a "Homer Simpson" brain level...
Viserys didn’t sacrifice his wife. Both the wife and the child were going to die regardless, because the baby was in breach. Viserys took the action to save the child. Also, most women, especially monarchs would gladly sacrifice themselves to provide an heir.
Lot of people seem to be missing that Viserys was told that Aemma was going to die whether they did the c section or not, but there was a chance to save the baby. He wasn't feeling guilty for choosing the baby over her, he was feeling guilty because his decision put her through an agonising ordeal and still couldn't save the child.
The Romans, by law, waited until the mother was dead before they cut in and try to save the baby. I think that in the Middle Ages had the same rule but I guess that, under the circumstances, they rushed it to give the baby a better chance.
Targaryens are the most fucked up and interesting house. Early GOT (series) were exactly that, politics, horrible things, sex, incest, anger. But the Targaryens were always shrouded in mystery. They chose the perfect house to start. I hope we see more politics about all the other houses though, as they are already in westeros.
I love and appreciate your descriptive reactions. Much better than the other RUclipsrs doing the same. The show is going to be epic. The dragon battles in the books are epic and surely they will be amazing. Obviously, Dragons will die and will be gut wrenching, but it'll provide for that drama we all live for. Can't wait to see 100+ battle hardened cocky Vhagar dragon which is as big as the biggest Balerion (skull at the end of EP 1) seen in Westerns. Also looking forward to Sunfyre (the most beautiful dragon of all). Good times! 👍
This is the real story, we know things but we don’t know how exactly they happened and there was some dialogue from Viserys at the end of the episode that doesn’t line up exactly with what happened at the end of GoT. I think the show will throw some big curveballs. The books were written by not so trusted people that changed some facts about history.
I felt sick during the child birth scene, it was too excruciating to watch. My head started spinning and I had to run to the bathroom to throw up. So much pain. Amazing episode though, I cannot wait for episode 2.
He didn't sacrifice his "fucking wife" for his child. How do you think she possibly would have lived no matter what choice was made? Why does no one seem to understand how this works??
Girl wearing a GoT shirt and don't even went deeper in the storylines of the past... Otherwise she would have known that Daemon is the MOST loyal character to his brother and Rhaenyra.
@Larissa Off topic (other show), but are you going to react to The Rings of Power? In my opinion the trailers look very good, but I’m worrying about the scripts. I understand people are sceptic and hope that Tolkien won’t turn himself around in his grave. I’m still curious though and gonna watch it open minded
Why be mad at your father? It was Otto and the masters that murdered Viserys' wife and child. The Faith, Hightowers and Citadel have been killing Targaryens and their heirs for years. Viserys was convinced to "follow the science" as most people would.
Daemon wasnt violent without a reason, these were rapists and murderers , they were like medieval police :D I am history student in Finalnd and I have learned that in medieval times it weas like that , if you were a thief you had your hand cut off and etc :D for me it was super upsetting to see that nobody asked Aemma for her consent....they just tore her to pieces while holding her down , for me as a woman it was soo upsetting to see but I like that they didnt hold back with this cause that was also the reality in medieval times , it shows how brutal that kind of system was for women
Daemon had FULL reason for his massacre. All of them were either rapists, thieves and/or murderers. Thus, they were punished accordingly. Shame we don't follow the same path in our real world.
I feel Daemon will have some redemption like Jaime. When we first met Jaime i thought he was a cartoonish villain and than he became one of my favourite characters. We also saw Otto Hightower is an ambitious man, he used his own daughter to seduce the king
I really like the young Rhaenyra. I wish they could have just used her as the adult also. I know the actress looks young but they could have aged her up a little for the adult parts. I mean the actress is in her 20's in real life. But we'll see. I'm not sure when they do the time jump.
I have a legitimate question. Why have you not reacted to The Last Kingdom? jk 🙂 Anyways great first episode for House of the Dragon. I actually really like Daemon. I think he's a complicated man. Not a good guy, but not exactly a villain either. Well not yet atleast. Time will tell just how dark his path becomes.
Well, it was either sacrifice the queen to save the child or do nothing and they both die. Like the Master said, it was a hard choice, but it needed to be made quickly. The former was the best choice at the time, although it didn't matter in the end. They both died anyway.
The Romans had a law that said that you had to wait until the mother died before you cut her open. We are talking about the Romans who had pretty brutal practices and, even they saw cutting into the mother while alive as being too much. I guess rules change when it comes to a Targaryen heir.

He did not sacrifice his wife, she was going to die anyway, it was the only way to try and save the baby.
Looking forward to the many episodes reactions for this!
im a patreon but couldnt see the uncut reaction there
It’s rendering right now, but because of the length of the episode it’s taking longer than usual. I hope for it to be online in the morning!
i followed your reactions to GOT because we both had the same reaction to seeing dragons and the music. I was more a fan of the Starks then Dany but being a fellow female I deeply respect your fan favorite. Excited to see more dragons! Just be prepared for ppl and dragons dying in this show.
I know I'm arriving late.
I know others have made the observation I want to make.
(Found your channel through a compilation of reactions to the finale of The Walking Dead about a week or so ago, been through your entire TWD reactions., you earned my subscription, and to use a GOT reference, you paid the Iron Price for it.)
A great number of reactors make the error of thinking Viserys had to choose between his wife and his unborn child. But this is not the choice before him. Act now to save the child, or lose them both. They would not take action to save the child because it would harm the queen, without the king's consent, but if they took no action mother and child would die. That's really not a dillema, but it is the queen, so even the highest maester will not presume that reaponsibility.
I got chills too 🥺
I think you were mixing Aemma and the Queen That Never Was up in the trailers.
Yeah, she was clearly really glad to be sacrificed.
Larissa wanted to ask if you are doing The Sandman too
oh she is doing him allright, if you know what im sayin
Thanks for your reaction
aaah yes Larissa Targaryen watching house of the dragon, good.
I wonder if Melisandre will turn up!
I felt sick during the child birth scene, it was too excruciating to watch. My head started spinning and I had to run to the bathroom to throw up. So much pain.
Amazing episode though, I cannot wait for episode 2.
I've noticed a lot of Anti-Daemon sentiment among reactors but when I seem him I just rub my hands together in glee.
18:10... until the Sand-snakes
nice to be back ;)
I almost thought I was watching "The Force Awakens" with all that fan service 😳
He didn't sacrifice his "fucking wife" for his child. How do you think she possibly would have lived no matter what choice was made? Why does no one seem to understand how this works??
OMG! You're so Targaryen looking😇🤩😍 and so beautiful also! Awesome! Love your reactions! This show is gonna be HUGE!!!
It was so perfect.
The Meister said that the mother would die anyway, but there was a chance to save the child. Have you even watched the episode?
Girl wearing a GoT shirt and don't even went deeper in the storylines of the past... Otherwise she would have known that Daemon is the MOST loyal character to his brother and Rhaenyra.
SOMEBODY knows what is the internship of Larissa? She is still studying? Somebody knows what?
16:54 Daenerys’ theme :)
I would love seeing you dressed as a Targaryen on dragon back.
Dracarys 🔥🔥
@Larissa
Off topic (other show), but are you going to react to The Rings of Power?
In my opinion the trailers look very good, but I’m worrying about the scripts.
I understand people are sceptic and hope that Tolkien won’t turn himself around in his grave.
I’m still curious though and gonna watch it open minded
Why be mad at your father? It was Otto and the masters that murdered Viserys' wife and child. The Faith, Hightowers and Citadel have been killing Targaryens and their heirs for years. Viserys was convinced to "follow the science" as most people would.
Vis is nothing like Joffrey
And I'm gonna subscribe this channel.. Your reaction is so good❤️
Daemon wasnt violent without a reason, these were rapists and murderers , they were like medieval police :D I am history student in Finalnd and I have learned that in medieval times it weas like that , if you were a thief you had your hand cut off and etc :D for me it was super upsetting to see that nobody asked Aemma for her consent....they just tore her to pieces while holding her down , for me as a woman it was soo upsetting to see but I like that they didnt hold back with this cause that was also the reality in medieval times , it shows how brutal that kind of system was for women
Daemon had FULL reason for his massacre. All of them were either rapists, thieves and/or murderers. Thus, they were punished accordingly. Shame we don't follow the same path in our real world.
Girl you crazy
@@ubaxtohow Just logical! Naturally I would be more lenient on thieves. But rapists and murderers? They get everything they deserve.
First, I really like this Episode 😁
I feel Daemon will have some redemption like Jaime. When we first met Jaime i thought he was a cartoonish villain and than he became one of my favourite characters. We also saw Otto Hightower is an ambitious man, he used his own daughter to seduce the king
I feel the same!!!!! still super angry and sad about daenerys ending.... but Im exited about this.
People that like breaking bad and get of thrones like attack on titan, watch that anime , people asume is a kid show but is not
Please react to Netflix's The Sandman whenever you can?
I really like the young Rhaenyra. I wish they could have just used her as the adult also. I know the actress looks young but they could have aged her up a little for the adult parts. I mean the actress is in her 20's in real life. But we'll see. I'm not sure when they do the time jump.
rhaenyra reacting to house of the dragon 😂
OMG, the 2 girls are not in love.
I have a legitimate question. Why have you not reacted to The Last Kingdom? jk 🙂
Anyways great first episode for House of the Dragon. I actually really like Daemon. I think he's a complicated man. Not a good guy, but not exactly a villain either. Well not yet atleast. Time will tell just how dark his path becomes.
DracARys 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well, it was either sacrifice the queen to save the child or do nothing and they both die. Like the Master said, it was a hard choice, but it needed to be made quickly. The former was the best choice at the time, although it didn't matter in the end. They both died anyway.
The Romans had a law that said that you had to wait until the mother died before you cut her open. We are talking about the Romans who had pretty brutal practices and, even they saw cutting into the mother while alive as being too much. I guess rules change when it comes to a Targaryen heir.
