Everything about it was as well executed a scene as it could be, and it was the high point of the episode for me, which is really saying something with this episode.
I felt so horrible for Viserys. The man lost everything dear to him except his daughter, and his council is picking at their bones and squabbling over the succession within the day.
@@benn454 It's understandable (although they could at least have given him more than 1 day...). They need an heir otherwise you have political instability. You are not weak. You are not disrespectful. Feeling faint is probably because you have so much empathy that watching those types of scenes makes you feel them too. Don’t ever feel bad about having that kind of reaction. If you need to pause, block the screen, or close your eyes to get through things like that, it’s ok. We love you for your empathy in your reactions, but don’t want you to overwhelm yourself.
Daemon Targaryen aka the Rogue Prince is my favorite Targaryen in the lore of ASOIAF and WOW !!! Even doe I might get pushed back IMO Daemon is the best/coolest Targaryen in the whole Targaryen lore, and I'm hype that the show runner's cast the perfect actor for this character.
I always love your reactions because I feel like unlike so many other reaction channels who want to make smart ass edgy comments, you actually capture the emotions of the show you're watching. I feel like all people who loved Daenerys' character will be happy with this show. I love how this show bridged the gap between being it's own thing by letting this new cast of characters shine and tying in to the OG show/series. I think they did it in an authentic way, it didn't feel corny. Young Rhaenyra is so good.
Regarding the last couple minutes of the video, I know people (who are male) who have similar problems with some kinds of gore as you have. And similarly it’s thought to be a sign of weakness (especially for a guy). So it’s totally understandable that you feel that way, and you’re not alone in this. If anything, I think current day media has made a lot of people desensitized and no longer shocked to violence and gore (which to be frank is not a good thing). The fact that you can still feel physically sick because of a horrible thing happening to a person is a testament of your empathy.
I agree. I'm so happy she shared, people shouldn't be looked down upon for having the courage to be themselves and to show their true self, even the vulnerable sides.
You're gonna LOVE this story! :) It will become so epic! And this first epsiode was already so great! And yes I think it's a political move from Otto to send Alicent to the king to comfort him. Not to have sex with him per se, but to give them a moment alone so they could get to know each other better and start develop feelings for each other maybe. Because he is now without a wife. I think Otto is kinda like Littlefinger with the political plotting and will use his daughter to gain power.
A note on some of the names - Viserys's wife was named Aemma (Aemma Arryn, tho I don't think that was mentioned in the episode), and the hand was called Otto Hightower. The brilliant judgy power couple were Rhaenys Targaryen "The Queen Who Never Was" and Corlys Velaryon - was not expecting them to be my favourites going in 😂
Damn Im sorry that happened/happens to you. It’s definitely not a weakness. Please get a second opinion…faints scares me…no matter the reason. Big 🤗 hugs to you 💜.
it's good that you talked about it we all have things that make us feel vulnerable part of being part of this community is a good thing coming out with your problems... now we love you even more keep up the great work can't wait to see more reactions..❤️👍
Its been a while for me old friend, but I had to check out your reaction to this. Great Targarianish look/dress. Matt Smith is Goat. Team Daemon no matter what!!
Regarding the ending of your final thoughts, no one should fault you for the type of traumatic scenes you were talking about. I've also known a few who suffered from ptsd and had similar experiences when they are reintroduced to those types of scenes. Hopefully you can be warned somehow beforehand without giving away the spoilers. Will look foward to the next reaction content 🍻
@@GoatLuffy_97 Honestly would have skipped THAT scene if I had known, and i dont even have PTSD (as far as i know). It made me feel very light headed for like 10 minutes and had to pause and take a moment...
I got instant chills at the end of this episode. That theme! I’m so glad they stuck with it. I mean can you top that? It’s iconic. What an absolute banger of a pilot episode. Wow!
That birth scene was horrific and frankly I don't even think they should have shown it in the detail they did, you are definitely not weak for struggling with it. You're also definitely not alone in the Otto and Alicent scene, he was absolutely sending her in there to "comfort" the king in that way and it's nasty. I'm pretty sure so far I've only seen reactions of yours to stuff I've already seen, so I'm excited to watch this along with you.
Just to clarify, the book this is based on a history. It's told based on a few sources. So even book readers don't know for sure what will happen. They know the broad plot points but there still are surprises. For example, the song of ice and fire bit? Not in the book. But yeah. Beware of spoilers. It's more fun to be surprised.
So awesome....... Started off as a slow burn, much like GOT did. Has very much that feel......then when we hear the old GOT music at the end we know we're back!!!
Finally got around to watching this and then immediately came here to watch your reaction 😊 I came from the same perspective as you here - hadn't watched any trailers or know the source material at all. I loved it. And I loved your reaction as well - I honestly feel like this show seems to have a lot of twist and turns and it might benefit not to know the source material (so, as usual, screw all the people who give you shit for that). It is indeed lovely to have Matt Smith on our screen again, I do find his character immediately very fascinating. As for what you shared on the end, thank you for being vulnerable, and as always your own comfort comes first. ❤ I have a friend who has the exact same reaction (and has actually fainted once) when such a subject was even just discussed, so it's definitely not all too rare and you don't have to feel ashamed of it. Looking forward to the next one!
I binge watch most of the reaction on youtube to HOTD from eps 1 to the finale. Because i already miss them so much 😭. And i love your honesty about your vulnerabilty to some of the scenes and it's okay, i think you're doing great. 🙂 So i'm gonna keep my binge watching through all your reaction . 😄
Im reacting to HOTD without having read the source material as well! TRUST ME, the comment section is always my source lol, just gotta be careful of those spoilers. Great reaction!🙌🏿
Always take care of yourself first and thank you for choosing sharing something so personal with us. You are far from weak, you are human. Sending you love 💛
Glad I wasn't the only one who felt really light headed, literally felt as if i was about to faint (I have fainted once before in my life, and it was the same feeling.) during the "birth scene". I thought I was just being squeamish but it was in way too much detail in my opinion, would have been fine with it being a LOOOT shorter. Also, im a male (24) and have never had this feeling from watching anything on tv.... not sure if it was the blood, or just the overall scene. Thank you for sharing.
I love you for your Matt Smith love!! On your own (if you haven't already) you should see him in The Crown!! He was Emmy or Golden Globe nominated!! Loving the story so far. They seem to be making Daemon look like the 'bad one', but this always changes in the GOT universe. I wouldn't want him in charge of my 'night watch', lol! p.s. That's a fantastic dress you're wearing!!
I was so excited for you to get into this. I think you really summarized it perfectly. These characters are so deep and have such wonderfully crafted personalities, Daemon especially. And there are so many that are yet to come in the _game_ in the next couple of episodes. And of course, just wait until you see all the dragons. As far as the Queen Emma birth scene, there's really nothing to be ashamed of. They really went and done it, it's good for the characters, but could be extremely disturbing to us viewers. I myself had to skip through it. From what I did see of it though, real kuddos to the actress for her performance. Never apologize for being who you are, what you like and especially what you *DON'T* like. I dare even say It doesn't make you weak, it makes you YOU.
Don't worry, it's understandable. Whatever it is, you come first. Whatever you need to do to take care of yourself. We cannot help how we feel, or how things make us react. You just have to accept it is part of you. And anyone who respects you need to accept and understand that part of you. I understand.
The thing I love about you most sesska is you honesty...never change, it sets you apart from the rest! And I gotta say you look positively radiant in that dress...it really suits you!
I’ve had such anger and bitterness at any mention of Game Of Thrones since the awful finale, this premier was a bright spark. I absolutely loved it and it ignited that game of thrones fire again!
In some cultures, having a male heir is still very important today. Monaco and Japan are examples. In Japan, the current empress also had troubles with her pregnancy, they only have one child which is a daughter. Since none of the toddler princess' cousins were male, the Japanese government started working on changing the law of succession to allow her to ascend the throne... until her aunt got pregnant and had a son.
@Brad1980 Well, he seems to be a villainous type. Or at least, he does not seem to be a particularly heroic character, and certainly a far cry from the Eleventh Doctor.
"I never jest about cake" Not sure who but Matt could do Daemon proper justice. You can almost see the inner war raging in his head at craving more power yet at the same time caring for his niece, the Princess heir. Going to be interesting to watch this play out. As long as they don't phone in the last season.
I was late to the GOT party by about 4-5 years. I saw S1 & half of S2 of GOT with my gf back in 2015. My gf stopped connecting with it by the middle of the 2nd season. Just stopped watching. While I did love that Blackwater episode (S2E9) once I continued on watching without her. It did feel mostly slow and boring to both of us initially. Too many characters were being presented to us. Too many times jumping from one location to another. We were more into The Walking Dead at the time. Obviously, TWD declined by S7. I put off watching GOT for a year. I did watch S1-S3 but I only put it in the background. What's funny is I replayed it many times but I never reached The Rains of Castamere episode that features THAT SCENE that shocked us all because I kept replaying earlier episodes. Then one day in 2016, I played that S3E9 but sorta watching it, sorta not. Once I saw the Red Wedding, holy 💩! I kept replaying that scene. The Red Wedding is responsible to why I began watching RUclips reactors like The Normies, Akasan, Imon Snow, and Jessica here. Then I put off watching S4-S6 for another half a year. Man, once I saw that episode, The Mountain and the Viper (S4E8) around late-2016, I was hooked! I binged watched it from there. Then epic episodes like The Watchers On The Wall, Hardhome, and Battle of the Bastards kept pulling me into this incredibly deep mythology. I was already caught up by Season 7 (2017) and Season 8 (2019). You can be late to the party like I was and you can still enjoy the hell of it. Heck, I didn't even get into Star Wars until I was 16 when the Special Editions came out in early-1997. I used to think Star Wars looked boring. I was more into Back To The Future and Indiana Jones. GOT's world building is epic. Discussions for it can be fun and interesting. Each episode looks more massive and more expensive than expensive sword and sandles movies like Braveheart, Gladiator, and Troy. And it's great for RUclips reactors as it can boost their views since it's highly discussed by fans weekly. Looks better than all these Disney+ series like Obi-Wan. You'll feel enchanted by the beauty of Westeros and the beautiful locales they filmed it at. And it can be unpredictable because many of these characters aren't good people and writers do have the liberty to change certain things up. Game of Thrones even with that bad final season is still the GOAT TV series to me. Just take S1-S6 and it's more legendary vs. any other show. So many likeable characters and epic episodes. House of the Dragon could surpass it. Daemon is already a popular character among book fans. Only time will tell. But HOTD is off to a very good start.
I’m surprised that I haven’t seen anyone else comment: the opening narration gave off big Galadriel vibes from the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring.
I loved this episode soo Much! The domino effects that took place thst will shape the rest of the show! Fantastic! And the knowledge that Aegon conquered Westeros to ultimately save them! Chills!!!! , I’d like to imagine this is a prequel series to the book world rather than then show world 🤣 . But also I love that you’re like the Velaryons already they are an iconic couple ❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥
You are in no way weak for feeling the way you feel, or having the reaction that you have to scenes like that. As someone who hasn't been in a situation like the ones you feel faint at, it's probably not my place to say this, but I don't think you offend anyone by having that kind of reaction or feeling the way that you do. Especially since it's not something you can help in the moment. I just really wanted to say that you shouldn't feel weak, because you aren't!
I’m so glad you’re reacting to this! Not only are your reactions always thoughtful and fun and genuine but I love how much you love Matt Smith! He’s so fantastic in this so far! I haven’t read any of the source material for this either so I’m going in just as blind as you! Can’t wait to see where this show goes and see your reactions to it as well! Regarding your final thoughts: You are not weak in the slightest for these feelings! I’ve watched your reactions for years now and you are an incredibly empathetic person. I don’t have an expertise at all but I’d guess that that’s why you have such trouble watching scenes like that. You are a wonderful person and so many of us dearly love your channel. If there are scenes you can’t watch on camera or need to skip we all understand!
I really enjoy whe people know nothing of the sirve material because they go unbiased. Is that controller a hint of a gameplay reaction channel? Have you seen The Expanse? Such an amazing show and it's characters are great as well.I can see you enjoying it.
Jessica, Did this same thing happen to you during that scene in season 3 of the Walking Dead? IF not, I wonder if that might be the root cause for those feelings.
what are the chances of all of them in the future naming the book that chronicles the events of the Long Night the same as the name the old king gave the prophecy foretelling the same events? lol
@Brad1980 I mean I doubt it if it's a prophecy handed down from King to heir. The mad King would have never had time to tell viserys. And even if you did I doubt he would have ever told Dany
It is hard to get a definitive read on the characters, they are really just laying the groundwork at this point. I love that you come in fresh. That aren’t a lot of reactors who are on that boat. I couldn’t watch that scene either, don’t feel bad. It was pretty horrible. If it makes me a wuss, then so be it. Matt is so great!! But then I knew that a decade ago, just sayin 😊

Paddy Considine’s Viserys was written and portrayed so perfectly here, as a man who wants what’s best for everyone but doesn’t know how to cope with difficult or hard decisions very well.
His raw emotion in the throne room at Daemon was so well delivered. @Brad1980 Well, he seems to be a villainous type. Or at least, he does not seem to be a particularly heroic character, and certainly a far cry from the Eleventh Doctor.
You’re a blessing. Love your reactions.
I’m loving that all my favorite GoT reactors are now reacting to HOTD! ❤
I’m surprised that I haven’t seen anyone else comment: the opening narration gave off big Galadriel vibes from the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring.
Something has to since ROP definitely won’t.
A solid start!
I love Daemon Targaryen he's my all time favourite character from A Song of Ice and Fire.
I don't have the channel to watch the show, so will probably follow its progress via exerpts on your reaction.
9:45 me but also "was that fuckin legal?!"
Honey is most definitely not Honey in this show but he does make for a delightful bastard.
We’re getting the intro sequence next episode.
most everyone missed the departure of Daemon on the red dragon, they could have done a closer shot on him leaving.
Love the dress, House Of The Dragon Theme colors.
By Jessica I think of House Of The Dragons & I think the first episode will put smile your face
Love this reaction thanks ✌️
Hi, yes I stayed. And yes I also can relate because it's very uncomfortable. Some sort of stuff that can make me faint.
First of all, you look beautiful, Jess! ❤️
Secondly, I knew this was coming! 😉
Jess "I don't mean to Harp on this", haha I see what you did there. Get it? Harp-y? Sons of the Harpy?
Great reaction!!!
I'm literally exactly the same with needles and anything too graphic
Did you recognise Euros from Sherlock?
After how GOT ended up, I'm worried that I'm setting myself to get hurt again here.
Take care, Jess! 😉
I love it too so happy with it.
What UpThis is Carlos Jessica I am also of big fan Games Of Throne House Of The Dragons & I think ny is great to show HBO Max
I've got to say, I'm loving this new (to me, anyway) dark character portrayal by Matt Smith. Kinda sexy.😍
GAME OF THRONES UNIVERSE IS BACK!
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON BEGINS!!! 🏰🐲🔥🩸
Off topic, but I love your dress!
I really enjoy whe people know nothing of the sirve material because they go unbiased. Is that controller a hint of a gameplay reaction channel?
Have you seen The Expanse? Such an amazing show and it's characters are great as well.I can see you enjoying it.
Matt smith... always great.
Jessica,
Did this same thing happen to you during that scene in season 3 of the Walking Dead? IF not, I wonder if that might be the root cause for those feelings.
It wasn't an innocent moment and you'll see.
what are the chances of all of them in the future naming the book that chronicles the events of the Long Night the same as the name the old king gave the prophecy foretelling the same events? lol
@Brad1980 I mean I doubt it if it's a prophecy handed down from King to heir. The mad King would have never had time to tell viserys. And even if you did I doubt he would have ever told Dany
Where is Caraxes?
I'm just here to see her freak out about 'that' scene lol. Edit: ok she edited it out, I'm sad
I gen watch crazy violent gory shit but and not blink. A eye. However seeing surgery will put me in a near panic attack.
