They did a good job of setting up people to think Daemon is the villain for much of the episode and Otto as being loyal until we saw how he moved once the King was vulnerable. I don't think he had good intentions when he suggested that Rhaenyra should be the heir and he essentially pushed Daemon out. I like how they didn't show Daemon saying "heir for a day" and I'm assuming it wasn't as malicious as Otto made it out to be. Looking back at the episode, when Viserys accused Daemon, I got a feeling Daemon was more disappointed that it seemed like Otto finally got to his brother. That's why he didn't make a huge fuss, he saw that his brother made a choice and accepted it. But yeah, I think Daemon is ruthless but I genuinely don't think he wanted to kill his brother, Rhaenyra, or his nephew to be king. Every bad opinion said about Daemon was said by Otto. He wanted to reduce Daemon's influence with each new position he gave him but when Daemon whipped the City Watch into shape he had another problem with him. Anyway, I like how these characters are gray and ultimately everyone wants something they morally shouldn't want which makes it interesting.
Agree with most of your points. Daemon was right, the council is taking advantage of the king. Otto telling the king what Daemon said seemed like a good deed from teh kings perspective but it is clearly a little finger'esq move by Otto.

“The queen who never was” was actually seen as a sign of respect that’s why Otto Hightower suggested having the Baratheon’s tongue because it was seen as a slight against the King. Most people in the realm wanted her to be queen.
This is based off a completed book! It’s called Fire and Blood. It has most of the Targaryen reign written out though not just the dance of Dragons which is what this show is based off of

False. The lords decided 20 to 1 over Rhaenys. Most of the lords wanted Viserys to be the heir.

I doubt the common people cared. Rhaenys probably grew up on Dragonstone (as her father was the Prince of Dragonstone). And she married Corlys and moved to Driftmark before her father died. She probably didn't get to see common people much.
No most people didn’t, her cousin did though, as did some northmen and some crownlanders. Viserys got 90 percent of the vote it wasn’t even close

Viserys didn’t choose for his family to be destroyed. The Maester told him his options were A.) His wife dies and the child lives, or B.) They BOTH die. And then they both died anyways.
Viserys’ mistake was pressuring Aemma into getting pregnant again. But that was a mistake he made 9 months prior. In the delivery room he made the best call he could.

Exactly. Also, the baby dying wasn't because the maesters messed up. Earlier, Viserys' wife commented that she lost several children shortly after coming out alive. Unfortunately, the maesters saved the baby only for it to die from the same natural causes that killed the others.

If he actually said it. Notice how it never actually showed exactly what he did? We're only hearing it from Hightower and considering we know he's using his daughter to get closer to the King and that he doesn't like Daemon who's to say he didn't exaggerate things?

@@justbeyondmythoughts Probably because he already knew it didn't matter. The King already had his mind made up. Could also be he said it but it wasn't meant as an insult and Hightower just spun it. You cannot argue the facts that the show deliberately didn't show what Daemon did and that coincidentally the show had the man that absolutely hated him be the one to relay the story. This isn't exactly grasping at straws

You should realise that Daemon love his family, especially Rhaenyra and Viserys. The only one who might kill they baby is Otto, he basically control all the maesters, who were with the queen

Yeah Tasha wasnt really paying attention to the situation the king was in in that moment. He didnt chose his son over his queen. He chose to try and save the one who had any chance, his son. The queen was dead the moment the child required a c-section. And the show explains this very clearly.
Now you can blame the king for still pursuing a son after so many years and lost babies; and pushing his clearly exhausted wife to having more. Thats another convo.

I can't remember which book, but it was told that the reason the throne was made to be uncomfortable so there wouldn't be a lazy King ( so they wouldn't get too relaxed).

I wanted Jon to be named Jaehaerys or Aemon too, Rhaegar already had a son named Aegon. If you guys want to know the 'historical' event this series is based on from the books, its called the Dance of The Dragons, the Targaryen Civil War, if you think Daemon is the villain you have no idea.

Seeing as GRR Martin wasn’t really involved in GOT past S4, we don’t know if Jons name actually IS Aegon. It could be revealed as something completely different if we ever get any more books. I’m hoping he’s a Daemon, or an Aemon Cuz I love both The Rogue Prince, and The Dragon Knight.
Aegon just seemed like such a cliche name to give him in the show.

someone probably already said it to yall somewhere, but the show is based off of Fire and Blood. It’s basically a history book written by a maester using several accounts detailing from Aegon’s conquest up until after the Dance. Its kinda accurate but of course they took some creative liberties

I didn't think of the throne being laced with poison but makes sense because why would it show him being cut suddenly after years of sitting there and it was surprising. Its like they laced it and sharpened a few blades, and good catch that its not guarded because Daemon was sitting on it. Interesting to see if you're right.

Interesting to see the different reactions to the decision the King had to make regarding saving the baby or letting them both die.
Agree. Some people hated him for it for not giving Aemma the choice over her own body, while some understood the context of his actions and even said they would allow to save their babies. I personally side with people who hated Viserys for not telling Aemma the truth and asking her permission.

Btw, it's clearly evident in the show that the king did indeed love his wife very much and did not want any of it to happen.

@@targaryen7029 Tbh...in the context of them being king and queen and the matter being trying to save the life of a potential heir, I don't think asking permission would matter. The matter of an heir was the most important thing for the realm and was a greater priority than anything, and the king and queen had the duty and obligation to fulfill that. It was already known to them.
So while I would agree with you in a general sense, in this context I don't think that I do.
@@finalarbitrator4551 of course it matter. She was desperate not knowing what was happening. The least he could do was to prepare her and tell her. He was a coward for not talking with ther first. Which is very in character for Viserys, he is not a bad person but he is weak and coward.
I really hate her point of view saying his choice it wasn’t really his choice, technically he had that difficult circumstance where his wife was gonna die either way and he had the choice to try and save his son so he did and unfortunately the son died as well… even the producers explaining the first chapter they say that the wife was gonna die regardless he chooses to save her or his son, so It really is mess up
A breech presentation isn't automatically a death sentence. It may or may not resolve naturally with physical maneuvers or "in the hands of the gods" so to speak. But i get what you mean, it's all in hindsight. She may not have been that mad at him had the son survived 😂

Y’all reaction is very interesting. Though I wouldn’t count out Daemon he is a complex character but he is a mix of Tyrion and Jamie but also violent and compulsive.
I want to point out that the King didn’t carelessly kill his wife. He was told that if they didn’t take action the mother and child would die. The Queen was going to die no matter what. Gut wrenching stuff. It’s so sad she went through that pain for the same outcome. :(
i saw the video n said what i said...i get it but if there wasnt anything selfish involved, why not give her the choice or explain whats about to happen? Childbirth is already wild, the baby mightve survived had she not gone into what would be considered {shock n panic} before they delivered...

That is Lord Corlys of House Velaryon known as The Sea Snake. He is the best sea captain in Westeros history and has made his family even richer than the Lannisters. I’m not sure exactly how they are going about it in the show, but the Velaryons are cousins to the Targaryens and intermarry with them a lot (Aegon the Conqueror’s mother was a Velaryon). In book canon nearly all Valryians have silver or very pale golden hair

Did they listen to what the Kings options were the queen was never going to survive this to begin with. So why are they hating on the king he had no choice he was going to lose his wife anyway he was trying to save his child. I think they might need to listen and pay attention more to actually understand what is going on in the scene in my opinion.

In the book Daemon actually loves his brother but views him as week and feels like he needs to preserve the family line. It has never been implied that he would ever actually cause harm to his brother but he does want to rule the realm. Can't wait until you see the alliances that are forges. The "Blacks" vs the "Greens"
just a question.. would you consider this type of information a spoiler? I'm just thinking there are a lot of people who are watching this and meeting these characters for the first time.. many of which probably view daemon as a legitimate threat to the throne due to the tension in the show.. so throwing out info about how he hasn't caused harm or wouldn't or whatever. isn't that something to be left up to interpretation.. the only reason im saying this is because the reactors on this channel currently view Daemon that way and reading stuff like this kinda ruins that.. just sayin

The queen would have died in child birth as well as the baby. The C section was to attempt to save the baby. He didnt choose the baby over the wife. It wasnt that hard to understand. They explained it very clearly. Also i am well aware the baby died anyway but if someone had to choose. Let them both die or attempt to save the child. You wouldnt try? Tasha tried to equate it with the abortion stuff from now. Like he chose the baby over his wife. She was going to die either way. It was awful all arounf
