Steps to Remove Device from Amazon Alexa: 0:34
Video Transcript:
With the rise of the internet of things and smart home technology, the number of devices connected to your Amazon Alexa account is likely growing like crazy. As time goes by and you get rid of older devices, it's important to remove those devices from your Alexa account. This not only keeps your list of connected devices clean, but it also ensures no one else can use those devices to access information stored by your Alexa account.
Now let's walk through the steps to remove a device from your Amazon Alexa account.
Step 1. Launch the Alexa app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. You'll land on your Alexa home screen.
Step 2. Tap the "Devices" icon in the menu along the bottom of the screen. The Devices screen appears.
Step 3. Tap "All Devices" toward the top of the screen. The All Devices screen appears, displaying a list of all devices connected to your Amazon Alexa account.
Step 4. Tap the name of the device you want to remove from your Alexa account. An information screen for that device appears.
Step 5. Tap "Remove Device" in the list of options on the device's information screen. A dialog box appears asking if you're sure you want to remove this device from the Alexa app. Tap "OK" to remove the device. You'll be returned to the Devices screen.
You can confirm the device was removed from your Amazon Alexa account by tapping "All Devices" again toward the top of the screen to return to the list of all devices connected to your Amazon Alexa account. The device you removed will no longer be listed, confirming it was successfully removed.

"Step Four" at this point this video is useless because what happens in the video does not match what happens on the app. Thanks Jeff.
For those having problems not seeing a button to remove it, at the bottom of the settings page when you scroll all the way down there's an option to deregister it. that removes it from your Amazon account and Alexa app.
Thank you
no deregister that I can see
I don’t see a “Remove Device” or “Deregister” option.
Thank you. Btw, they changed the remove device to "deregister"
Thank you sm, bc I couldn’t find remove device
Your comment is the BIGGEST life saver !!!!!
THANK YOU
this comment needs to be highlighted.
Tyyyyy
There's no remove device option in my alexa app?
Same
Same 😖😖😖
Select "Factory Reset"
Yeah I don’t see it either
Yeah seriously all these videos show settings options that dont even exist on our apps wtf. Its like made up. THERE IS NO REMOVE DEVICE OPTION!!!
You gave good info but you start singing 😂then you catch yourself. Then you will talk and then start singing again. 😂. You have a blessed day!
I'm not getting the options you're talking about.
Neither am i
@@catdaddy4490 same
No option to remove echo devices
Getting no option to remove / deselect a device
Simon, same here. I also get no option to remove, either on my Macbook Pro (which I bought in 2018), or my new Samsung Android cell phone.
Simon same here! No option to remove, so frustrating.
Select "Factory Reset"
@@kchiem not there
I had similar problem with my kids speakers. Kept playing only in one room regardless of what device I instructed it from. I solved this by removing one of the devices from ‘kids room’ (I don’t think I created this group intentionally. . Go to devices - go to room group - remove of of the devices from that group . Hope that helps
When I go to all devices and I pick a device there is no option to remove device
I cannot complete the removal because the device being removed is not "online". How can I remove the listed device as I already sold it but still shows in my account.
doesnt work.... removed the item and very next time you log back in to the account they appear just as the always have..
Deregister doesn’t work. It won’t remove. I’ve tried resetting it and deregistering and it won’t do either 😡
I neither see remove device or Di register
max, thanks for the video... But apparently there is a more involved process for removing AMAZON devices (especially those signed in thru Prime) from an Alexa account. That is where the issues are coming from.
I'd recommend an addendum video, or at least including a disclaimer in your video/comments to avoid negative feedback.
Didn’t work for me that option is not available on my iPhone.
There is NO 'remove" selection in the area stated.
look for deregister, Amazon changed it
I don’t have any of this on my app no remove no delete no deregister
@@redfauxx9721 same
@@redfauxx9721 I have the same issue. Have you been able to fix it?
Not how my screen is laid out. I don't have the remove button option. Clear & concise video. A little too much vocal fry on some words.
doesnt work.... removed the item and very next time you log back in to the account they appear just as the always have..
Hi Max, I followed your instrutions. Somehow I still cannot remove Alexa from my phone/headphone, and my Alexa decice remains red
Didn't match what I saw. No "Remove Device" option. Might be outdated video.
Okay all, I couldn't remove my fire TV stick, like many of you, from my Alexa bc I couldn't find a deselect/remove option as mentioned in this video. However, I'm a Prime member and was able to go to my account under devices to remove it that way!
Thank you!! It worked!! 👍🏼
Thank you BevBay B, this were very helpful.
Like others, I don't get the option to remove / deselect a device.
Is the device online? I think you have to have the device online to see the ability to remove it.
@@MaxDalton Yes. It happens with all my devices. I'm in the UK - I don't know if that makes a difference.
These echos are about to be short term baseballs
Ya that option is not present in the android app and in all of the forums people have the same issue. Amazon hear us and add the option.
If I delete a bulb from my Alexa app can I reuse it? I have one light in a bedroom that comes on with the echo dot in that room but also comes on when I am in my kitchen and ask Alexa to turn on the lights? I am hoping I can delete it and reinstall it.
3 devices are not showing up in the list--they are the ones I want to remove. But, even if I choose another device to test these instructions, I do not see any option anywhere to Remove Device.
If you don't see them then they likely aren't associated with your Amazon account. You'll have to dig up the person whose Amazon account they're associated with.
Thanks for this video, much appreciated,
Sorry but there is no “remove device” option on that screen for my Samsung Note 20
Sign in to amazon app( not alexa ) > your account >content and devices > select the device > deregister > back to your alexa app and refresh....it's gone .
Thanks. Wouldn't have thought to go here
I tried that. The old device doesn’t show up on the account for both of us, however when I get an alert they get it too and they still show up on my device page in the Alexa app.
doesnt work.... removed the item and very next time you log back in to the account they appear just as the always have..
I call BS. The remove device option does not appear for offline devices.
My echo dot is offline and it doesn’t have the option to remove device.
Mine doesn’t look like this. After I click on the divorce it doesn’t give me an option to remove or trash it. Help!
NEEDS TO BE UPDATED!!!!!!!!
Can u put it back on
Does not come up with a trashcan or disable option i am unable to delete anything
Thanks my boyfriend got me the black one and I absolutely hate it
I tried everything to remove the smart bulbs but they refused to remove
No option to remove the Fire TV from Alexa all other devices show a dustbin but not the upstairs fire TV & now Alexa wont turn on my living room TV
Interesting. You may want to reach out to Amazon support.
Barbara, same here.
I have 200 devices I want to remove, is there an easier way?
There is no "Remove Device" option
What platform/device are you trying to do this on?
Either a PC with Windows 10 or an Android phone with the Alexa app.
Try where it's says Deregister...
I also don't get a "remove" option. There's nothing that says "deregister." There's no trash icon. I've tried and tried and tried to clean up and remove the Amazon Fire (which never worked), and I just can't. I think I'm going to divorce Amazon and go with Google Home.
I did this. Then when I search new devices, the devices I deleted showed back up. Those devices are at an old house on a different wi-fi network, & for some reason, they keep showing back up on my Alexa App. Any suggestions?
Kenneth J. Jamrozy II same issue.... i have 20 “echo dots”, and a bunch of devices from my other location
It's deregistered but still showing on my account...
FOR any of you with the new ECHO SHOW devices. There is a trash can on the top right of the screen that allows you to trash/remove the device.
There isn't any trash icon on my device.
No longer have remove as an option
i just want to remove a profile name on the device
What if I do it on accident
no option to remove device!
i do nothave alexa account
I have other devices connect but I doesn’t show up
Are you sure they are associated with the same Amazon account that's associated with your Alexa device.
I cannot delete it
Your instructions are NOT working!
Not working
Outdated video. Should be updated or removed.
Outdated unfortunately.
not any more
It dose not show
Are you sure that device is associated with you're Amazon account?
Nope.
Card number
This video is 4 years old 😂😂 useless
There is a remove icon its called a trash can
