Having recently retired from 35 years in the technology business (yes, I predate the World Wide Web!), I’ve usually got tech things figured out pretty well by the time I see a RUclips video on it. But I learned a lot from this video. Very well done.
What the hell upgrade is this??? I went to the Apple Store and could find no such thing and googling for "Alexa app upgrade" yields no item posted more recently than 2022.
Alexa app is really a total mess. Its uggly, slow, unpractical, etc.... Instead of producing new hardware like the Echo Hub, why dont they fix their app first ? Its a mystery. I guess they prefer to spend time making already paying prime members get advertising if they dont pay more, then to fix what is broken. Its a shame.
It seems a bit peculiar, but I can't seem to locate the 'Mode' option in the Devices section. I'm a bit stumped on how to enable it. Any insights or guidance on how to get it up and running would be greatly appreciated!
I dont see any group names in my alexa Account. I do see Home Security that has all cams tied to it, could that be my group? I am getting second Echo Show 8 I want to combine with first Echo so I get cam alerts on both. Do you know how I set the new Echo one up with the old?
Is it possible to delete several lamps at once or set the account to factory settings? In my case, it supposedly deletes the lamp and a few minutes later the lamp is back in the list.
@TechWithBrett Brett, thanks for all of your great videos! I had a MRM group named Everywhere that I accidentally deleted. So I can't see any speaker groups. When I try to recreate Everywhere, Alexa says that the group already exits. And because all 8 of my speakers were previously in Everywhere, if I create a new speaker group, Alexa does not show any speaker to add to the group. Do you know how to recover my Everywhere MRM group? Or know how to release or make my 8 speakers available to add to a newly created group? Thanks in advance for your help.
I don't think Alexa has scenes other than those that are imported from apps like Philips Hue. Those you would edit in the Hue app and then you can activate with Alexa. I guess you can also make scenes by using routines.
Good video going over how to set smart devices, but what I was hoping for was how to change the wake word. I have the original echo in my bedroom and echo dot in the living room. From the old app I was able to have the wake word, "Echo" for my dot. The problem I have now is on both computers which are in the same room is my other devices. So every time I say Alexa, my computer and Echo wake up at the same time. If my phone is in the room, all 3 wake up; should I have Fire TV on, that makes 4. The old version there was no problem in changing it. This new version, I am unable to do so. I've gone to the help site and it gives the explanation on how to change, but when I go to the phone app and search for either computer, there is no option to change the wake word.
Brand new 5th Gen echo dot - but cannot adjust CLOCK, it is two hours ahead of my time zone. I;ve tried unplugging and still it does not fix. Tell me how to fix this?
I'm a bit confused @ the whole AMZN Alexa setup concept. I've a winter and a summer home, so not unusual. Between Ring doorbells, Ring camera's, Ecobee' with Alexa, our cars with Alexa, our Firestick TV's, our Echos plus Dots, our phones with Alexa, and our Eero routers I'm counting 50+devices. Not a big number for a Smart Home. I moved to a new Eero router at one house. Now all my RIng and Alexa devices at that house need their network credentials re-setup. So, no problem EXCEPT it's impossible to see which Dot or Echo belongs to which house. I use my AMZN account for both homes. Best as I can see Alexa Groups does not cut it for device management. Why should I have to use a dummy AMZN account just to sort my Alexa devices? Am I missing something? Is there a better way to manage Alexa devices than that AMZN app? Thanks
Help!!! I have a Samsung Note 20 ultra, and I uninstall the Aleza app and re-installed it again, but no luck. To begin with, the home page doesn't look at all like the one you are showing and is not letting me edit rooms' names or pick a custom name if I want to when setting rooms, the keyboard flashes and disappears so I can change anything and that started to happen like two weeks ago. Very odd. The app has changed since I made this video so It will look a bit different but you should see a Light bulb at the bottom row. If you click on that that, you should see the groups at the top and can click to add or edit them.
@TechWithBrett Yes, I see the Light 💡 at the botton, and I can make rooms using the names already set in the app, but I can't edit or pick a custom name, the keyboard flashes and dissappear s, so of course, I can do changes or pick a custom name.
@@goryann5327 I'm getting the same issue with multiple devices. Flash and disappear. Can't add non-alexa devices to groups either. Seriously frustrating. Are Amazon trying to get people to ditch Alexa?
Under the devices tab do you see the row of groups at the top? If you do need see the group you are looking for scroll to the end and vmselect See All. Then find the group you want to delete. Tap on the group and at the top select Edit. At the top right select the trash can.
I have the Trashcan Symbol on every Smart Home Appliance except for the Echos... I want to delete old, already offline echos, but there is no trashcan... There is an Logout Button on the device, but this does not work either... What can I do?
For the Echos, just go to the device and go to the Gear icon. Scrolling to the bottom, you can deregister the device. This will remove it from your account.
Hi Bret I have an issue with Alexa app! I have EZVIZ cameras and i have a message that the Alexa app cannot do live feed with thoses cameras I turn off the encryption images on the Ezviz app as directed but nonsucces Any clue?
Have you tried showing it on an Echo Show device? Most 3rd party cameras are not supported in the Alexa app. Also it only works in US and UK. www.ezviz.com/us/page/amazon-alexa

I was actually looking for a way to delete all devices but I don't see that. You will just need to do it one my one under each device on the devices tab. And you you lose any just connect that Skill again.
@@TechWithBrett I have done that and a few days later they are all back again 😭 in fact they have doubled so I deleted 100 devices and a few days pass and I now have 200 devices
Do you know what service they are coming from? Do you have the device setup in multiple place like SmartThings and Alexa? Is the manufacturer app showing just the devices you want?
You're not kidding. I'm having a hell of a time finding my groups that I have for my lights in this version of this app. I had all my plugs set for Christmas lights last year I had to reset all of them and I'm trying to create the group Christmas lights and it's telling me it already exists, but I have no idea where to find it
@dannyg402012 i found it. For me there are 3 icons in lower left. A house, a light bulb, and 3 horizontal lines. Click on the light bulb and you should see groups

How do I set my IeGeek doorbell to Amazon echo 8 second generation
In the Alexa settings go to Skills and look for leGeek, then link your account.

Ok, you may need to use the forgot password on the IeGeek account, reset it and then try linking to Alexa again.

My app does not show a "devices" tab.
Looks like they changed the app again. It is the lightbulb button at the bottom of the home screen of the app.
