- A multi-actor reading of Secret Seven on the Trail by Enid Blyton part of the Secret 7 series. It was dramatised by Edward Phillips.
Jack won't let his sister Susie join the Secret Seven, so she set's up a rival secret society of her own called the "Famous Five". A false trail is laid by the rival club to play a trick on the Secret Seven. But little do they know that this trail will lead the Seven to a railway yard on a foggy night and a real adventure.
I had this tape as a child and loved this telling of the story. It is abridged with a 44 minute running time, but maintains the tension and excitement without over-simplifying. These shorter dramatizations are ideal for 'reading' in a single sitting and are great for bedtime or car journeys especially with younger kids. Recorded with a multi-voice cast by Rainbow books (and later released by Tempo).
The Hodder audio dramatization version of this story is also uploaded • Secret Seven on the Tr...
This is shared from a recording of a cassette tape, so lots of old-fashioned tape noises and hiss, but still very listenable and an enjoyable telling for childhood nostalgia or for a new generation of listeners that can make pictures in the mind.
I haven’t heard this for almost 40 years yet remembered every word so clearly😊
Brilliant! I love the image of the cassette tape. Not everything was better than but some things sure were!
I had it on cassette, it is just so great
I'm now 48 and just been took back to 8 years old! The tape playing is just the best, I think I wore the tape out
Amazing! Thanks for uploading this relic of my childhood.
Forty now takes me back to being 6 /7 thanks 😊💪🖤
My goodness! I wore this tape out as a youngster!! Actually purchased the cassette recently for nostalgia.
Thanks for posting 🥰
God this brings back memories...been looking for this version for years...used to plug my bright orange headphones into my mum's stereo to listen to this...distinctly remember the narrator's voice.
I love this book
I remember having and listening to this one. Thanks for the memory 😊
Thanks for listening
Yeah oh my god me too I’m 40 now !! Taunton Somerset 🇬🇧😷
Oh cool. I never had these ones when I was when I was a child, but it's great to hear the familiar cast voices. I managed to find a load of Rainbow tapes on ebay recently, so I am steadily working my way through them. Think I have got a bit obsessed!
Nice. Will check them out. I've got Go ahead Secret seven rainbow version still to come sometime soon and then the rest of abridged Blytons I have are mostly the later Hodder versions.
Very interesting ❤❤
Thank you for sharing this, brings back so many memories. Loved listening to it again.

Tape listening holds up really well - maybe they'll have a revival like vinyl did!

Is this narrated by Michael Hordern?
Sorry, we could never find out the cast for the Rainbow Audio recordings
@@reneartois616 that's a shame. I think one of the voices is Paul Reynolds who played Colin in Press Gang.
Public performance broadcasting and copying of this recording prohibited. hahaha
Yeah definitely don't do either of them. That would be very naughty.
I sumtims I right the book's
