  • A multi-actor reading of Five go to Smuggler's Top by Enid Blyton part of the Famous Five series. It was dramatised by Edward Phillips.
    The school holidays promise all kinds of adventure for the Five, when they go to spend their Easter break at Smuggler's Top, a large old house on top of a hill. Julian, Dick, George, Anne, and their friend Sooty decide to investigate some very suspicious goings-on and unearth a very clever smuggling operation.
    I had this tape as a child and loved this telling of the story. It is abridged with a 44 minutes running time, but maintains the tension and excitement without over-simplifying. Making it ideal for bed time or car journeys and my kids prefer these versions also. Recorded with a multi-voice cast by Rainbow books (and later released by Tempo).
    The Hodder audio version of this story is also uploaded • Five Go To Smuggler's ...
    This is shared from a recording of a cassette tape, so lots of old-fashioned tape noises and hiss, but still very listenable and an enjoyable telling for childhood nostalgia or for a new generation of listeners that can make pictures in the mind.

    Thank you for uploading this I've been looking for it for years. Had it as a small lad back in the 80s. I don't suppose you have the 80s tape of either Five Go Adventuring Again (the one with the teacher Mr Roland) or The Secret Seven Fireworks tape of about the same time period do you?

      The books always seemed less well-known, but it's such a great series. The audio versions seem quite rare, and that's the only one can find that I had as a child, but if I come across any more, I will upload.

    This is the full audiobook? Or is it shortened

    • @reneartois616
      @reneartois616  4 года назад +1

      It's abridged. The multi-cast dramatic versions are shortened; generally to under 1 hours, but there are also 2 hour versions of some of the Blytons. There are full unabridged readings of the books that are read by a single person that run around 4 hours.
