    If your Mustang's headlights don’t work or work intermittently… a good place to start your troubleshooting process is the headlight switch. 5.0Resto offers two OE quality replacement headlight switches for your GT or LX. Both of which match the fit and finish of the original factory piece and is the perfect upgrade for a damaged or malfunctioning headlight switch.
    For you GT or LX guys that have done a fog light conversion of some kind, and are experiencing fog light issues.. you’ll want to take a look at the headlight connector located just behind the headlight switch. Overtime the headlight wiring would over-heat with continual use of the fog lights. This overheating issue would cause the plastic headlight connector to melt, therefore causing your fog lights to malfunction.
    5.0Resto has you covered, with an OEM style headlight switch connecter. This headlight connector features 6” color coded pigtails, for easy splicing and absolutely ZERO guess work as to which wires go to what!

    Will a melted fog light switch connector kill the power to the dash lights?

    I have a stupid question i have been rebuilding my 90 notchback and have reached the wiring part of my build, i am wondering if my headlight switch is bad, when i turn on the parking lights only the outer lights come on and when i turn the headlights the parking lights come on the main lights come on but the inner light will only com on with hazards or signal light the reason i ask is because i have seen on some mustangs where the inner and outer lights are on at the same time with or with out the main lights on.

    Has anyone ever had the blinking headlights issue? If so could this fix it? After running my car at night for no more than 10-15 minutes the headlights start blinking on and off, I've had people wave me down and tell me and its quite frustrating to drive my car at night with this issue.

      I've only had that happen with my 66 Mustang. Replaced the floor dimmer switch and never had a problem with that anymore

      Did you ever get your issue fixed? i would think that you would match the wires in the slots they are in originally in your car with the wires that are in the new connector regardless of color or amount.in the video he ended up using every single wire but the headlight plug only shows 6 slots but there are 8 wires in the new one so I'm guessing one has to use 2 wires instead of 1 in some spots?, when you say you did the relay bypass and no bueno,what relay bypass is that? there is a guy on RUclips with a foglight fix where you run your foglight switch to a different source instead of being paired with the headlight switch, i did it on my 91 and it works great.

    Landan! First off great video, and I don't even own a fox! Just love learning more. Odd question, but what's the story behind this particular fox? I parked behind it at the store a week ago and couldnt figure out what Lue was so I was curious to its story

    Can you tell me what bulbs go in the back of the switch for replacement? Maybe the bulb number?

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  5 лет назад

      Mike, I believe that the bulb that illuminates the switch is built into the housing. We dont have a number reference, I do apologize.

      Thanks for looking into this for me. I’ll keep looking. I don’t want to have to replace the entire switch for a burnt out bulb. The bulbs do twist out, and there is a number on it, just can’t find any other reference than the “TSD V2” that’s on it.

    When I turn my headlights on my interior lights are off but if I barely move the switch back a bit the interior lights and headlights are on now. can this be a bad wiring connector because I've tried a new switch and it did the same thing?

    how do you change the color of the illumination in the switch?

    • @latemodelrestoration
      @latemodelrestoration  3 года назад +1

      Hey Robert, we don't offer different illumination colors for the switches. You'll have to source some aftermarket bulbs to change the illumination.

      @@latemodelrestoration That's Cool. The dash lights are green but hard work. I'm replacing the lights and convert top switch along with the dimmer. Thanks

      You may want to check the light bulbs behind the cluster.

    When it comes to replacing a old connector.....I solder all the wires back together.....I will never use crimp splice connectors. And use heat shrink tubing.

    • @dntlss
      @dntlss 10 месяцев назад +1

      That's the smart way to do it, most people can't solder, dont have any soldering tools or just dont care, i couldn't even melt solder to save my life but i can put a engine together, go figure.
