Fun fact about the radar that you have to defend...You can get that radar if you time taking it just right just as the mission ends and not fail the mission. Took me hours...but i have a save file with 100% mission success and all parts.
To anyone getting into the series or otherwise playing the ps1 AC games, I highly suggest playing without H+ for your first playthrough. While the games aren't generally difficult, it does make it more of an honest challenge. The arena is 2-3x more difficult to clear if you don't have access to H+ if only for the reduced boost cost. Oh, and one thing that was missed is that you can ignore weight limits if you've cleared a certain percentage of the first game and carries over if you use that save file. I'm not sure what the percentage is.
Armored Core was so impressive coming from Mechwarrior 2. Yeah the PSX didn't have a real GPU like a PC, but they did awesome things with what they had. Cool textures, models, and animations, and so much faster than a Mechwarrior game!

Very grateful this video series exists. I'd normally just emulate the games myself like I did with the older ace combat games, but I've heard that some of them can just be a bitch to play. I much prefer this to watching playthroughs, so thank you so much for these videos!
great vid! just FYI, the reason why master of arena makes no sense is that it does that 90's thing where instead of having an opening cutscene setting up the story, it just has all that shit in the manual, the plot is that your nameless raven went into the line of work to take revenge on hustler one for killing your family as collateral in one of their missions.
Nope, it's probably because he imported his save file or that he accidentally skipped the cutscene since THERE IS A CUTSCENE for it based on other clips and evidence that I googled quickly. (Edit for further clarification: This is seen after you enter your name while making a new game, even if this comment was made 2 months ago I just wanted to say something to avoid misinformation.)

this series makes AesirAesthetic look like a fucking hack. He didn't even bother to do separate videos for early/late 3rd gen, and only talked about the numbered entries. You're a real one and after having watched all of these intently, I have to say, it's fuckin' criminal that you have a fraction of that dudes audience. Just the fact that you said both that you're "not really *into* stories in videos games," however you "didn't read the wiki for any of this information, it just came from playthroughs." That alone puts you above like 90% of the entire video game RUclips ecosystem. I really appreciate the effort you've gone through for all this. Plus, you speak normal English too so that's always a bonus. Regardless of me hating on other 'Tubers, you really did a great job with these. I've always been the only AC snob in my real life friends circles and these videos have been infinitely validating for me personally. I'm really happy with how you touched on virtually every single feature added and removed, as well as some that were only ever considered. This series should be considered a masterclass in how to make an in-depth series of analysis of an entire franchise, literally on par with Noah Gervais. Good job bro.
9 Breaker does not equal Arena Champion. It's a reference to 9 Ball, the legendary AC of Hustler One who stood longer than anyone at top of the Raven's rankings until he vanished without a trace and only appears as a thing in the titular Armored Core Nine Breaker game. The truth being he was always an AI Controlled pilot/ac that once the player character defeat the AI systems that controlled him ends his rain.

I just finished all the ac games today and personally I didn't find the finger to be that loud at all but I'm glad it was nerfed in master of arena as it actually gave me a reason to use the karasawa again
If you were curious enough to start fresh in MoA then the beginning of the story would not be as confusing and entering the official arena is not possible without a sponsor idk why. A big theory is that ac1 and acmoa events happen simultaneously or almost at the same time
One thing that's cool about the first project phantasma mission is there's a bonus objective of smashing up the place. The more boxes and structures you blow up, the more money you can get. It's incredibly easy to get 50-60k on a first playthrough. On my second I got like 75k
"Disc 2 arenas are not something to cover" Like, DUDE, the number of arenas in this game is higher than half of the franchise put together, and you need to be UNDEFEATED if you want to unlock the final arena with the best pilots. I did that without using human+ or no overweight cap (I did not have the first game) and I did not cheese it with height glitch. It shaped me as a player in both in-game aspect and gamer in general. The game truly grinds you to mastery and I love it for it. The last AC game that I could play was AC3 and I can only wish that they introduced more arena content, OR if it allowed us to have custom arena much like MoA did - we build enemy ACs to pilot against. Boy oh boy was that fun. You don't find content to cover there? I have enough to talk hours about it :P Well, could've. I was very young when I played this, but I still remember the ordeal.
I'll have to check it out sometime. Everything I've read on it has just said "extra arena content" which sounds cool. I know there is some way to create ac's to battle based on what you want
@@aboveaveragegaming6120 iirc, there are four "legs" arenas, developer arena (where every or many developers built their ACs), and I think one or two more along with Master(?) Arena. But there was also Custom Arena where we could build custom ACs for AI to pilot against us. It was really fun! I built some crazy ACs and then on one very humbling occasion I put together an AC with the most basic weapons and parts and it DESTROYED me with that starting rifle! He shot it so fast at me while airborne the force of the rifle stunned / rooted me in place, followed with blade attacks, then if I managed to get away he sniped me with rockets or missiles with uncanny precision. My own custom, most basic built AC stomped my ass! WHAT?!?! Lil dude gave me more trouble than the final AC in the game did. But, yeah, the second disc was amazing. I re-visited it back after I got my hands on the first game (it was years later) with no-overweight and human+ unlocked and while it felt good to shove back cannons up their arses, it didn't feel as fulfilling after doing the game "normal" way.
Watching you complain about how easy MoA is and my stubborn ass refused to use Human+ cause I was too annoyed with the idea of going bankrupt like 8 times in a row, without human+ it can be decently challenging making a solid build but the one I ended up with was a lightweight biped with the 2nd strongest energy rifle (it has 2x the ammo of the sawa) with a moonlight blade, man I wish I could shoot those energy waves that would've sped up so many arena fights.
I was really enjoying AC1 .. until I got to the point where most of my missions had flying enemies.... I can't STAND the controls to look up and down. I beat my head against the wall for over a week and I just can't get it. I even tried rebinding the controls but I hate it. Iv managed to get cheapish copies of 4, for answer, and verdict day. I'll try those as I'm told most of the ps2 games STILL don't use the sticks. If they released a copy of the older games with better controls I would be all over them
Look up Saintmillion. Your humor and approach to reviews is along the line of what he does with star wars. I think you could take inspiration from his approaches to make your videos even better. If you locked down your own corner of the market like he has, I can see this channel growing faster.
regarding the fight with carson and its AI. carson primarily focuses on dodging / getting away from you, until at least one of your weapons has fully depleted its ammo. at which point they become hyper aggressive with their weapons, as indicated by their description. "waits patiently for his opponent to expend all their ammo, then attacks". the issue though is that the fight will usually be ended before running out of ammo on any weapons, and indoors arenas make their defensive play style fall apart quick. can verify the ai works like that from my own experience running out of mortar ammo on them
Armored Core will ALWAYS be superior to souls in my eyes. My 1st real playthrough of a AC was Last Raven and strugglingat 1st on Zinaida, then whooping her ass with Evangels AC setup!, Souls is just a medival Armored Core.
If you start master of arena with a fresh save file instead of importing you actually get a cutscene explaining how nineball killed your family. no idea why that gets cut out when you do the option probably like 90% of the people who bought this game did
Wait how's "demonstrating" bad translation? Demonstrating is another word for protesting. Also, the water is knee high for your mech but that would still halt cars and wheel-based traffic.
5:35 Its what I've been saying about Fromsoftware games for a while. While i don't think they necessarily NEED lower difficulty settings, I do think that it can lead to newer players getting frustrated and stopping before getting farther into a game. Even Code Vein (a souls like game) had companions who could make the game easier and was entirely optional which lead me to actually beat a souls like game for the first time. Elden Ring KIND of did this too as lots of weapons and easy XP farms were available in the game if you knew where to look. Curious to see if Human+ will be a thing in Armored Core 6
I learned so many things I completely missed in all of these games as a kid. That's probably because I only ground the missions for the parts so my buddy and I could pvp and accidentally found extra bits. But still, damn.
Dude I came here to watch your videos because of the announcement of AC6, and about halfway through I got ads and one of them was the trailer for AC6. My day is made.

This was what I was looking for when it comes to a review. I get a clear picture of the game and its story. Yours is the best one so far. I tried a couple others, but they either waxed poetic about the game play only, or droned through the story element in such a way that I couldn't properly feel like I understood it. Thanks.

Fun fact about the radar that you have to defend...You can get that radar if you time taking it just right just as the mission ends and not fail the mission. Took me hours...but i have a save file with 100% mission success and all parts.
I've never played armored core and have been very curious so thanks for the video. Disappointed that the channel name is an understatement. Subbed.
Thank you very much. I'm glad I've made it this far and I'll keep going
My friend this series and your channel is about to get a lot more popular in the coming year.
Armored Core was so impressive coming from Mechwarrior 2. Yeah the PSX didn't have a real GPU like a PC, but they did awesome things with what they had. Cool textures, models, and animations, and so much faster than a Mechwarrior game!
I enjoyed the video therefore im commenting.

One of my all time favorite series that needs to come back
Well, well...
Well, you got what ya wanted
Been a fan of this series for decades. Hope they go for a more simple approach the later games were overly complicated
5 and VD were too much.... And too little. I don't like how the only way to jump was to wall climb
Absolutely not. I do not want a dumbed down game. Keep the complexity
agreed, the later ones were a bit too zippy for me and it makes me dizzy.
"f**k nine ball, my beef is with this chick" LMFAO!!
right tho? 😂😂
As a newcomer to the series who is hyped for VI, thank you very much, even when I had ps3 the games went by me, and now I am catching up, thanks to you.
A good video with clear points and a bit of personality too. Keep up the good work.
Thank you kindly. I'm 6 minutes into ac3 video and I got the mic dialled in almost perfectly so only better content from here on out. Thank you for all the good lore videos you make here on yt
@@aboveaveragegaming6120 look foward to the next vid then. And thank you for creating content too as it always a blast to see ac content being made.
The clear eyes commercials had more personality in them. Thats what this dude sounds like lol. AC was a dope game on ps1 though.
Master of Arena is unapologetically my favorite game in the series alongside 3
Good video, but you can't talk about how easy everything is when you're using cheats to make the game waaaaay easier, lol.
Ya that's the third time I've been told. When did I say that? Was it moa final fight?
@@aboveaveragegaming6120 look out he's getting defensive about playing on baby mode.
@@Lunarice98 look out. Another person thinks armored core is I wanna be the guy (when you dont use h+)
I'll just reiterate that you implying that Human+ is the way the game should be played is lame. The option is there for people like you, but we the people who grew up with PS1 played it straight.
Great video, interested in getting to the series after failed attempt in the past, so excited for ac6
Very grateful this video series exists. I'd normally just emulate the games myself like I did with the older ace combat games, but I've heard that some of them can just be a bitch to play. I much prefer this to watching playthroughs, so thank you so much for these videos!
Thanks for watching! Ya I had problems emulating just about all of them except 3 and silent line. Repeating audio, messed up visuals, it's a pain ngl
They aren't that bad, so far
great vid! just FYI, the reason why master of arena makes no sense is that it does that 90's thing where instead of having an opening cutscene setting up the story, it just has all that shit in the manual, the plot is that your nameless raven went into the line of work to take revenge on hustler one for killing your family as collateral in one of their missions.
@@StrayEmber0 that cutscene doesnt explain even half of whats going on tho
@@brunocar02 wydm??? I'm just saying that there is a cutscene talking about The Raven wanting revenge for his dead family foreshadowing the AC that did it with Lana Nielson giving The Raven an offer to be a raven. The story is pretty simple "Nineball killed your family so now you gotta go kill him now even if you must bring down the system" revenge story
@@StrayEmber0 pretty sure that part isnt in the cutscene, thats on an email Lana sends you, and in a very compact format.
@@brunocar02 oh great for whatever reason RUclips is deleting my comment (for no warning or reason at all 🙄) looked up why and is probably because I was putting a link to an external site so I was trying to post the same comment 7 times *pure frustration* anyway three things:
1. I literally said there was clips of it
2. The email says nothing about 9Ball killing his family

Check out frame gride tho, it's got almost no story but it seems really interesting and I kinda wish it did have a story
Man I loved this. I never played through the PS1 games. Just a one time blockbuster rental. So this was really informative!
What perfect content to refresh my memory before 6.
Amazing production
Vaati sends his regards.
i wonder if he knows i mentioned him in my armored core last raven video lol. (it came out before he linked me)
That m-m-monster cutscene at 15:00 was golden lmao wow im still laughing
Behold, your series is about to blow up!
Ravens..... Lynx.....
Now is our time to rise from the ashes....
And fight for whats left of our future.
Armored core is back and 6 is coming...
For the armored core 1 endings you have to side with one corporation and the ending for the other corp changes, but the final true ending is the same always.
Bruh, it's ok to play with human plus if you like and you are having fun with it, but it's not ok to complain about "easy final boss fights" if you are playing in the handicap babymode
Hope you kept the old mic, you have some meme potential by sounding like Jim from Mission Hill. Kinda have that vibe which goes away with the new mic.
The best way to gain debt in armored core 1 is to finish the few first missions and then fail worker robot removal by blowing up all the generators and killing yourself in the process
I don't know if someone already spoiled the mini easter egg of Armored Core 1, but there was a mission called "DARK SOULS".
That Sasuke is drilled straight to my head, i can't unheard it.
I hate to be that guy, but the beginning parts of the story for master of the arena are in the instruction booklet provided with the game.
ohh the nostalgia!! i have to get number 1 again i spent hours playing it and i didnt even know about the secret parts!
No idea how your channel hasn't blown up with the AC6 announcement! Fingers crossed for you man, you're putting in the work!
I'd say it's going good. I'm just happy I'm getting more than 500 views a video lol. I've seen channels that do great work and have been around for years that have very little success
demonstrating isnt a translation error, demonstration is another word for protesting.
17:25 What do you mean it's probably the weakest intro? This shit with the editing goes hard af on godddd
this series makes AesirAesthetic look like a fucking hack.
Great video, earned my sub!
I loved the 1st one, I had the demo on a Ps1 disc somewhere. I never heard about Project Phantasma or Master of Arena !
Then I bought every Ps2 Armored Core games. I still have them :)
Also Armored Core 4 on Ps3, but I don't even remember playing it. How funny.
Thank you for this series, I'm looking forward to watch all of it !
I'm sure that demo disk would sell for huge $
You make good content I just wished you had more energy to your voice . It feels like a college lecture when the content is a really cool . Either way you earned yourself a subscriber , trying to learn all I can about armored core
thanks! i think my newer videos have gotten better but ill let you be the judge. AC6 hype!
@@aboveaveragegaming6120 excited to check em out
I love how gritty and hard the PS1 games were.
I liked this
51:00 bro you cut out the best part: "COMMENCING HOSTILITIES!"
My b. I was trying to shorten it up without anyone noticing. You are the first one to notice so you got a good memory
Time to binge watch.
Thank you for the upload.
This is an impressive series! Awesome stuff , it's a really good watch. Playing ps1 games on handheld emulators is great
I just finished all the ac games today and personally I didn't find the finger to be that loud at all but I'm glad it was nerfed in master of arena as it actually gave me a reason to use the karasawa again
Once a raven always a raven
49:18 that sound is so 90s PSX that my sense of style and my outlook on life improved.
"Disc 2 arenas are not something to cover"
Like, DUDE, the number of arenas in this game is higher than half of the franchise put together, and you need to be UNDEFEATED if you want to unlock the final arena with the best pilots. I have enough to talk hours about it :P
Well, could've.
I think it was unfair for me to call easy. I rethought 9 ball and i didnt realize before how much damage it did.
2:45 Wait, where did Armored Core 1 release as a launch title? It came out in 1997 that was over 2 years into the consoles life cycle.
Yeah man don't bundle all the games. I like what your doing. Mech games don't get enough love. I like and subbed.
My 1st real playthrough of a AC was Last Raven and strugglingat 1st on Zinaida, then whooping her ass with Evangels AC setup!,
Souls is just a medival Armored Core.
Love these old polygonal PS1 graphics. So much Nostalgia. You won't see them make it like that no more.
HehAHAHA! Even I got the "Sasuke" from that song.
You should have a lot more subs.
Totally safe and effective 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤬🤬🤬
I remember the demo disc that had AC1 on it, and then I got Master of Arena whenever it came out. Good times, good video!
Dude I came here to watch your videos because of the announcement of AC6, and about halfway through I got ads and one of them was the trailer for AC6. My day is made.
Amazing vid and I can tell you’re obviously skilled in AC combat.
I hate to be that guy though… AC1 was not a launch title. It released on my birthday when I turned 15 (I remember because I was SUPER hyped to get this as a gift) in 97. About 2 years after the PS1 dropped in the US.
Woah woah woah, slow down man! You're clearly way too enthused and high-energy, I can barely understand a word you're saying

This was what I was looking for when it comes to a review. I get a clear picture of the game and its story. Yours is the best one so far. I tried a couple others, but they either waxed poetic about the game play only, or droned through the story element in such a way that I couldn't properly feel like I understood it.
Thanks.

I guess I have to do a starting ac run to make people happy in this game
@@aboveaveragegaming6120 Nah, it's just a fun thing to mess around with. Usually leads to discovering dumb crap.
