One quick tip from my bow builds (not trying to flex btw) is if you get lucky enough to roll a Weakness Exploit 2 or Crit Boost 2 talisman with a *3* slot, you can replace the Vaik arms with the Rakna Armguards. The Rakna Armguards have Constitution 2, Stamina Surge 1, and a 2 slot, which is essentially 4 Level 2 Deco slots if you abstract what those skills mean for bow, giving you full Level 3 Normal/Pierce/Spread Up using the slots on your Talisman, Chest, and Waist pieces, and Constitution 4/Stamina Surge 3 between the Rakna Arms and the Rakna Greaves and an extra level 2 slot.
So a couple of tips: If you're going to main bow, definitely make a full set of Rampage Bows, over time the investment will pay off, the convenience of not needing to respec every hunt is great, and you've probably got most of the apex mats from farming the several billion lazurite jewels you need for decos. Raw is surprisingly competent for the Rampage Bow (it's competitive with the Anjanath bow), to the point where it may actually become better than element if they end up fixing the bugged elemental bonus. Finally, go with the recovery arc shot, it's hilariously powerful: brace is just flinch free for 10s, affinity just doesn't last long enough, but recovery is CRAZY powerful, it's essentially a free mega potion over 10 seconds for anyone who walks into the powder. It's more or less a full party heal if you fire it while someone is riding a monster or the monster leaves the area.
I'd say don't sleep on the arc shots. I know no one plans on getting hit, but let's be honest, it happens- and the Recovery Arc shot is actually really good healing. It's basically heals you at the same rate as drinking a potion, and you can shoot it off and dodge forward rather than put your bow away and chug a potion, so it means you have less down time when you inevitably get hit. Plus, your allies can benefit from it
3:25 Ice, ice is the prevalent late game weakness. Rajang, Teostra, Rakna, Diablos, Zinogre, Almudron. Even Bazel and the Serpents have it as a second best.
Don't diss the recovery arc shot. Having the ability to spot heal yourself or, more importantly, your blade master friends as they swarm the monster is fantastic. Allows them to feel a little safer and bolder with their attacks
Absolutely! I'm a DB main as well and have picked up and loved the bow in this game so far. And these videos have opened my eyes to many different possibilities with bow. Knowledge is power and I'm loving these videos.
Check out tidus69, the way he explains bow is super elegant and I guarantee using knowledge from his videos will really help your bow game. I switched from dual blades to bow at the beginning of rise and it transfers really well.
Awesome video as always! Videos like this are really motivating me trying to make my own and I'm working hard on one. Thanks for the content and the motivation!
Great videos Paradise! Very helpful. I'm new to the bow so I've been following your guides closely. Mostly, I came here to say: Yesterday I got a Talisman with Normal/Rapid Up level 2 and a level 3 deco slot
Same here, it would drive me nuts to swap out elements on one bow like that. I have a saved set for each element so I don't need to swap around decos either.
@@mikes9767 same I grinded the shit out of then lol I got a con 3 reload speed 1 2-1 charm two days ago so I can max Stam surge and constitution it’s freaking sweet lol
I just finished my bow build farm yesterday! It’s sick. I have a constitution 2, evade extender 1, 2 slot, and 1 slot talisman 🔥🔥 bow build is the wave for me now
I actually run a set like this that uses stamina thief and slugger in place of stamina surge and constitution. I really like to lean in to absolute power shot and exhaust coating to get a lot of KOs every hunt. If you're insane like me, or have terrible talismans you can use dash juice to compensate for not having a lot of points in stamina surge/con. As far as bows go, the rampage bow is hands down the best bow for rapid shots in 3 of the 5 elements. The heaven's glaze still gets more damage for an ice bow, and the flying kadachi striker only fell behind the rampage thunder bow in damage after the update. I still prefer it for other coating types, extra affinity, and tobi is just my favorite monster.
@@lionheart619js If your build is for max dps those are the bows that make the biggest numbers for elemental rapid shots. Other bows have different shot types, coatings, ramp up skills. You can use something like the chameleos bow with max poison attack for a status build for example. It's not that the other bows are bad, those just make the biggest numbers.
Always look forward to watching ur vids. Was dreading to farm for a consti 2, 2 slot, but when I checked the box I had a const 3, steadiness 2 with a 2 slot laying around . Needless to say I was ecstatic. Keep pumping out the content and I'll keep watching! Thanks guys
I've been getting horrible talismans and then today I got one with level 2 constitution level 2 fiire attack and 2 level 2 slots. I min maxed my fire bow builds and I feel great
Same with me but I got 2 levels of water attack 👍 score! Now I just need a way to slot in evade extender. I really hope they make a bow charge plus decoration. Fingers crossed 🤞
Great video guys. Thanks for the build. Needed to know which one was more important for the Narga bow and wanted to make sure that I had the best rapiod bow set I could get. Thank you!!!!
Here’s a hint for those of us who enjoy using Dodgebolt instead of Charging Sidestep: try to gem in Evade Extender! 2 is ideal, but one level already helps a lot. Also I’d personally go for elemental attack over reload speed, but it really depends on what you want.
Ooof yes, decoration farming! I'm trying to get decorations enough to fill the level of a skill! i.e. 7 Attack decos and 3 wex decos just in case some good slot armor pieces come out!
Do you feel the need for lvl 1 evade extender if you’re using dodge bolt? I like the comfiness but sacrificing a level of stam surge or wex for it is icky.
Couple questions for Paradise: 1) Do you have a source for the Elemental Attack hidden cap? This is new info that I think lots would be curious about! 2) I have seen other builds that prioritize Attack Boost or Critical Boost, with Ele Attack on Talisman. Pretty sure I know why you’re prioritizing Ele3 and WEX3, but has the difference been tested thoroughly on testing dummy? Maybe it comes down to whether you can consistently hit weak spots versus just spamming attacks. Thanks! Great content that is the most informative out there I’ve found
one notable mention is the pierce rampage dragon bow. you can shred narwa and/or apex rathalos pretty easily with this. or you can also use narga bow, damage output is almost similar.
I just farmed both of these awesome builds, but amazingly I had a consitution level 2 talisman with 2 level 2 slots, so I was able to slot weakness exploit into both of those, and the remaining open slots I'm able to put evade extender in. So awesome!
Eyy nice!! I made this bow 3 days ago. I was trying to find a rapid bow for the smaller bear and raptor type monsters! And to my surprise, this is probably my new favorite bow for general purpose.
I was always sleeping on Arc Shots, but Recovery is actually incredibly good. Sure, it costs a few seconds to use throughout a hunt, if you're not speedrunning it is worth using whenever you're missing some Health, or your allies are. Once we get a lot more freedom in slots, I kinda wanna cram in Recovery Up, and be able to do some nutty heals whilst also doing damage. The Affinity one is alright, 15% for about 20 seconds. Brace seems like a waste, but I haven't tested it much. Speaking of, do we know if Item Prolonger/Power Prolonger affect these buffs? I'd assume no. I also wanna suggest for casual hunters, try using Evade Window 2+ and Evade Extender along with Dodgebolt, for some really good Dragon Piercer opportunities. Perfectly timing the Dodgebolt let's you fire a Dragon Piercer in about half the time it normally takes making it great for Roars, or other attacks that leave openings. It'll take some practice, but Dodgebolt is really nice and my go-to option. It also maintains charge levels, and costs a fraction of the stamina the charging side step does, making it good in general. Additionally, hitting monsters with the Dodgebolt parry attack also flinches them quite often, and gives you some good openings if timed right by knocking flying monsters down. But you need at least 1 level of Evade Extender else you go like nowhere and eat the attack.
Rise is the first game I have used the bow. Always loved the animation for dragon piercer and decided to build a Dragon Piercer Build using the Night Flight bow with the following: 1. Special Ammo Boost Lvl 2 2. Pierce Up Lvl 3 3. Crit Boost Lvl 3 4. Crit Eye Lvl 3 5. Bow Charge Plus *shit hits pretty hard but if I am getting the urge to up attack power any way i can so I really want any input on other skills that would help. I heard about WEX and swapped out 1 crit eye deco for 1 Wex deco but my dps dropped. Any input is greatly appreciated! Happy Hunting!*
You don't think its worth it to get the lvl 5 element? the damage boost is pretty significant. I got rarity 6 talisman that is 2 con 2 evade extender and a 2 slot, god tier.
Great info as always! I use the rampage bow on dragon and water since I found them better but the usual kadachi/ice/anja for the other type seem better to me but I haven't done any real math And the new petalace is awesome on rampage since it max out immediately (with max health and def against pesky super atks and only -5 atk overall), but I still use attack on normal hunts since i usually grab few spiribirds and I may as well enjoy the more atk
For me, evasion is a must since I use dodgebolt. So The Void's (Nargacuga) armor set is pretty much my bread and butter if I want to get the most mileage. I am still workshopping other bows and armor sets though.
I have a constitution 2 talisman with one Lv3, one Lv2 and one Lv1 slots. I'm using Rakna Armguards and Golden Hakama. Not only for Crit Boost but also for Latent Power, which is great for my affinity and my stamina management.
Thanks for the tips about the element cap and critic boost, I will do my testing. I got a talisman with Constitution 2, Evade Extender 2 and 2 Level 2 Slot and have the exact same build of yours with max element attack. I have 2 level 2 slot empty so I think I will add some attack boost instead of critic boost. For fire, I like to use Anja Bow too for more slots. I would like to know what do you think of ballistics on spread and rapid bow ?
My bow build has level 5 constitution, level 5 critical eye, level 3 weakness exploit, level 3 stamina surge, level 3 evade extender, level 2 reload speed, and level 1 crit boost. I like to prioritize stamina and evade extender because I suck and want to hop around like crazy lol.
I’ve been toying with a Tigrex Bow build for a bit, the new one is act super funny and I can easily pass 300 raw mid hunt without even much attack buffs
The way that I see it, there's no reason to 100% spec into an element with the rampage bow that another bow does better, like Fire is pretty much covered by the Araknatorch, Ice by the Kushala bow. Even if there are monsters weak to Fire and Ice respectively that are not super susceptible to pierce, the DPS difference isn't that stark with some slight playstyle adaptations (Plus bows like Araknatorch and Narga benefit from an additional 2 slot over Rampage builds). Rampage is definitely the best Thunder, Dragon, and Water bow available right now though.
I'd like to learn how to use Bow in Rise (pretty different than past games) but the money required to invest in multiple weapons is very high. 😅 I'm a bowgun main and just investing in some of the bowguns we have takes a lot of money, lol.
@@moomanchu608 Yeah, I know about that, but I can only do that so many times before I start getting bored. It's one thing to hunt a monster, it's another thing to go around ore spot to ore spot mindlessly mining for resources just to sell it and go through all that money you collected within 5 minutes. I'd rather just collect money having fun with monster hunting.
I just opened my talismans next to your last opening video and got a weaknes exploit 2 and poison attack 1 with 2 1-slots. Thank you for the extra luck man
I'm trying to make a pierce poison evade bow set but the thing is I have to have ballistics 3 and pierce 3.. any ideas besides that GOD charm?? Haven't gotten any good stamina charms yet or the bow ones just poison so far.. ✌
this build made me a bow believer. it's insane. I did end up grinding to make 5 different rampage bows for each element, it's about the only negative here, it's definitely worth the time and grind though. If Bow Charge Up decos are available in 3.0 it would be even better, would make the build a bit less dependant on a godly constitution charm. What's crazy is that we are missing at least one more upgrade for Rampage Bow, going by the leaks we could get the final upgrade in 3.0 with the new Apex monsters added. So this build can get even more ridiculous.
I just wish there was at LEAST 1 more coating slot. Hell most bows already use 3-5 coatings so the rampage bow being super limited to two options really turns me away from it. I still like my Jelly Magnabow set.
hii guys! :) might i suggest trying out the ore tree 2 bow? it has a charge level 4 of rapid 4 which can open up your helmt for more power build! i enjoy these videos.
Can you explain how the narga bow is not the meta pierce bow? Every other source on bows says, summarized, 'Narga is the best overall, with rakna winning in some specific matchups (e.g. chameleos) and kushala winning if you play it correctly in, like, three matchups (e.g. shooting diablos wings just right),' so what's your hot take?
Narga bow doesn't have any element, right? That's why it's not the best pierce bow. Too much of bow's damage comes from elemental output to not have any at all. I mean, you can use it if you want, it seems fine. It just probably won't be a meta contender.
@@nebbythewhale6450 Elemental damage is bugged to be higher than it should be, but raw damage is purely overtuned. People always say that bow is an elemental weapon because it always has been, but the reality is that they have to consider both damage types, just like every weapon. Even dual blades care about raw. If you want a more thorough explanation, go to r/MonsterHunterMeta and read the PSA about bows being overtuned *and* bugged. TL;DR: Yeah, I totally get that elements matter and all, but with a tremendous raw advantage, the narga bow still *does* inflict greater damage than most alternatives in most matchups.
@@ivaldi13 Do you have a source on that claim about the narga bow doing more damage? Also, what does a raw bow build look like? Because if it can't fit a good amount of con, stam surge, while having the head spot occupied by the mighty bow charm (or whatever its actual name is) and no other skills then it won't be as good or as comfy. Also, narga bow doesn't have power coat. So... yeah that's a big minus. Maybe you could try a raw bow build with the rampage bow?
The petalace does not matter if you don't pick up bugs right ? Seems like the red bugs are always out the way , is it worth the 3 mins or so to go get them? Most speed runners I see just go to monster and get sub 3 min kills without bugs...lol maybe a vid on where are the bugs and if there worth would be nice
Not really a build but if we basically talking about the chakra set in this video (armor pieces that have no skill but max deco slots) the other two piece that aren't mention in the video is the skull visage s (it's has a 3 and a 2 the 1 is taken by fortify) and arzuros greaves s
Is it a preference thing to have stamina surge plus constitution vs marathon runner plus constitution or is there a clear advantage to having one over the other when using bow? I'm asking because using the Felyne dual blades with marathon runner lets you stay in demon mode for way longer or does the constant drain/regain cycle when using bow make surge the better option
Bow doesn't need marathon runner. The "dash dance" is a series of single uses of stamina. So having enough constitution and stamina surge will make the cost of your dash dance combo way lower. Marathon runner only works for things that continuously drain stamina, so it only works for abilities like demon mode and sprinting.
I was just using a very similar build to this except I swapped WE2 for Attack Up 4 because I don't have the decos to reach WE3 yet. Everything else I have the same. In your opinion which is better if you can only pick one or the other? I tested them both and the results are very similar so I'm not sure.
The Araknatorch is an example why im unsure with mighty bow feather: With level 3 of the combo (that means without feather) you rech the Pierce level 5 anyway. We are not upgrading our shot level with the feather. Is the bow feather with such a bow still an advantage?
Its not about the Shot Type up but about the charge level up. the level 4 charge is like +12,5% elemental damage increase over charge level 3. so i think its still viable imho
Like Jenova said, the extra charge level is too good. Dropping it would be like dropping horn maestro on a hunting horn build, you're just shooting yourself in the foot.
I'm going to have to learn a different weapon to do the Rajang Arena. The Lance uses two different skills than I do, and my muscle memory and reflexes are just betraying me left and right.
There are so many wrong advices here... If you base guide on someone's else work (Elpsy's) just try to understand reasoning behind builds and skills used. Instead you got Vid like this with copy phasted builds/recommendations and pretty much wrong anything else which isnt included in Elpsy's guide.
dont know if its a bug or not but I gave this bow a shot, and even though I got the bow feather charge level 4 is greyed for me!? am I missing something?
I got a Weakness Exploit 2 & Constitution 2 Talisman, with 1 Lvl.1 slot... so am I golden? Also have an Attack 3 Talisman, but no open slot... don't think it's any better than my first mentioned Talisman, but what do you guys think?
Perfect I was just thinking about starting a bow build like you guys read my mind lol.. And to the people that down voted this video stop hating and get a life these guys bust their ass and put out tons of extremely informative content so if you don't like it just don't watch it. And I'm screenshotting this build right now to work on when I get off work thanks again guys
I would reiterate just how important shot type up is to push your damage into speed run levels. Like before affinity and before attack, shot type up will boost your damage beyond them combined.

I like to prioritize stamina and evade extender because I suck and want to hop around like crazy lol.
what talisman you got for that build i was thinking some build like that using my constitution 2 evade extender 2 1 lvl 1 slot
@@zoinksscoob9824 sorry just saw this. I have a level 2 constitution talisman with 2 level two slots 😳 I got lucky 🍀
Waiting for the bow of light and courage to save blast bow.
I miss when the kebli bow was nuts back in 4u
It looked phenomenal twosix
I did the exact same thing I did on MHW. Started with LS, then switched to Bow main
I'd like to learn how to use Bow in Rise (pretty different than past games) but the money required to invest in multiple weapons is very high. 😅
I'm a bowgun main and just investing in some of the bowguns we have takes a lot of money, lol.
Just use the mining outcrops upsurge in high rank lava caverns. You’ll make a few hundred thousand zenni in one run
Thank you for the extra luck man
Different Rampage Bow for each element - I made one for each so that's about 5-6 Apex Rathalos and Apex Diablos.
Been trying to make a pierce build but am not satisfied with the damage output. This is helpful
ayyyyy, my boy uploading. lets see this insane build
Are you sure that Element Boost + w/e element is better than Att Boost 3 + Non Element Boost?
Do you have math behind your decision?
I'm trying to make a pierce poison evade bow set but the thing is I have to have ballistics 3 and pierce 3.. any ideas besides that GOD charm?? Haven't gotten any good stamina charms yet or the bow ones just poison so far.. ✌
I feel blast/poison are good generally for damage over time if you have a hard time sticking with a jumpy monster
Thank you for this just got a con 3 2 slot talisman will build this
this build made me a bow believer. it's insane.
Arc shot recovery is amazing for topping off your health without having to put your weapon away.
Have to be careful when you use it. Takes awhile to to aim and doesnt last too long. But how long the healing last is amazing tho
hii guys! :) might i suggest trying out the ore tree 2 bow? it has a charge level 4 of rapid 4 which can open up your helmt for more power build! i enjoy these videos.
Just opened up a constitution lvl 3 and peak performance lvl 2 talisman after watching this video earlier today. No deco slots but I'll take it lol
I just got a rapid up 2 talisman and I’m so ready to learn bow 🤩
Even before the update rampage bow was one of the best.
@@nebbythewhale6450 Go check Phemeto's video, "Still Bowken, Gotta Own It."
I just got wex 2, rapid up 2 with a 2 slot guess I better make a bow build
The petalace does not matter if you don't pick up bugs right ? Seems like the red bugs are always out the way , is it worth the 3 mins or so to go get them? Most speed runners I see just go to monster and get sub 3 min kills without bugs...lol maybe a vid on where are the bugs and if there worth would be nice
Definitely not worth going out of your way for. Just if they are literally in your path
Not really a build but if we basically talking about the chakra set in this video (armor pieces that have no skill but max deco slots) the other two piece that aren't mention in the video is the skull visage s (it's has a 3 and a 2 the 1 is taken by fortify) and arzuros greaves s
Might bow feather is mandatory
What about the Power Shot skill? Should I got with Absolute or regular Power Shot?
I was just using a very similar build to this except I swapped WE2 for Attack Up 4 because I don't have the decos to reach WE3 yet. Everything else I have the same. In your opinion which is better if you can only pick one or the other? I tested them both and the results are very similar so I'm not sure.
Anyone know what the decos are on the Rakna bow build? I know he said all the same but they’re not.
Evade Extender is just Godly for bow and dual blades builds.
24:25 brooo i did exactly the same i crafted 2... afterwards when i found out it was for bowgun and not bow i could cry man🤣
Mmmmh, I've got a constitution 3 talisman with a lv 3 socket. Tasty, right?
Also got a WeX 2, evade window 2 with a lv 1 and 2 slots.
Am I mad or when u knocked out rathian talking about exhaust coating the coat wasn’t applied to the arrows...
@me who made a Rampage bow for every element since Volcanic Caves is a bottomless gold mine of Zenny.
Howdydoodie!!!!! Im baaaack!!!! 2:32 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
He's back!
The Araknatorch is an example why im unsure with mighty bow feather: With level 3 of the combo (that means without feather) you rech the Pierce level 5 anyway. We are not upgrading our shot level with the feather. Is the bow feather with such a bow still an advantage?
With a helmet we could sneak in some critical boost for example and a good archer will maybe deal some extra damage on the weak spot.
My Talisman is Con 2 Stamina thief 2, level3 and lv2 slot
I had a hard time getting those Rajang coins. Good I got 3 that 1st clear
I'm going to have to learn a different weapon to do the Rajang Arena. The Lance uses two different skills than I do, and my muscle memory and reflexes are just betraying me left and right.
The heavy bowgun is a really nice alternative for that mission.
@@simz3192 Cool, I'll have to give that a try.
I was able to do it first try with dual blades and I had never used them. Back button activates demon mode also. Gl
Just got a Constitution Lv 3/Craving Pro Lv 1 with a Lv 3 slot and a Lv1 slot. Guess that's the best bow Talisman I can get.
I have the exact same tali as Paradise lol. And also a con2, blight res2, 3-1-0 :D
would the rampage bow with the blast element be useful?
Mine’s a constitution 2 speed eating 2 w/ 2-2-0 slot
I has a constitution 3 with 2 slot of 2. It's perfect.
There are so many wrong advices here...
If you base guide on someone's else work (Elpsy's) just try to understand reasoning behind builds and skills used.
Instead you got Vid like this with copy phasted builds/recommendations and pretty much wrong anything else which isnt included in Elpsy's guide.
What is wrong here? Genuinely curious as I am trying to pick up bow.
Only time I ever arc is on accident
I have a con 2 (2) (2) and I love it
dont know if its a bug or not but I gave this bow a shot, and even though I got the bow feather charge level 4 is greyed for me!? am I missing something?
You said that one of the normal up skills is not for bow but do you know if both are for bow gun or only one?
Only normal up work on bow, while both normalup and rapid fire up work on bow gun yeah
I have Normal/Rapid Up+2 with 1 lvl3 slot. I only got an extra 2 levels of attack boost for it. But I’m really bad at set building sooo
I run this setup with Jyura braces, my talisman is Con3, Master Mount, 2-1.
I got a Weakness Exploit 2 & Constitution 2 Talisman, with 1 Lvl.1 slot... so am I golden?
Also have an Attack 3 Talisman, but no open slot... don't think it's any better than my first mentioned Talisman, but what do you guys think?
“Your turning into a casual paradise” 😂😂😂😂
How do I unlock the 1st switch skill for bow. I've unlocked 2 and 3. But I don't have power shot
I'm trying to use bow, like the bow build in the Barioth Arena fight but I am failing lol
I would reiterate just how important shot type up is to push your damage into speed run levels. Like before affinity and before attack, shot type up will boost your damage beyond them combined.
This is ittttttt, I'm taking noteeeeee
I can get 175 raw damage with bow
For mighty bow feather u wil need to to all arena quests
No just the one they mentioned
@@paxing1281 it's more than one. you have to do barrioth and most notably (and challenging) rajang.
How about switch skills?
I have a CON 2 with evade window 2 followed with a lvl 3 and a 2 slot 😂
I got a con 3 slot 3/1 talisman pretty early on launch, I am now realizing how lucky I am!
