    I knew they were going to be cheap from the start. Mattel is super cheap nowadays, I think they don't care about dolls anymore. Decent looking dolls are super expensive and hard to afford, especially for collectors who live in small countries where it's hard and even more expensive to get them - like I do. When I was a kid playline dolls had good quality. Molded on clothes didn't even exist. This is so sad. The fact that it's for kids is not an excuse. Kids deserve some quality too.
    They made Disney Princesses look like their disgusting Barbie Dreamtopia dolls. I wish Jakks took the rights. Their Encanto dolls look pretty good.

But i think there are several men out there that understand the dynamics of marketing and good womens quality and with the exceptions of Robert Best and Bob Mackie, I haven’t really seen any others come to the forefront. Like if they can’t give us dolls that can only move their arms up and down they could at least allow them to sit properly. The 1959 Barbie's articulation is better than a lot of the cheap dolls now, because she COULD sit. I feel like the ShopDisney dolls are exactly why these ones are so disappointing - if Disney can sell a higher quality doll and not share the profits with another company like Hasbro, Mattel, or the stores selling them, why wouldn't they? These dolls are the budget ones for people who either can't figure out ShopDisney or don't care enough to try. Fans will buy ShopDisney dolls, parents will buy these. Hopefully the items that won't compete directly with ShopDisney, like the live action line or more unique collector's editions, will be higher quality. @@Moonlitwatersofaqua That's the other benefit for Disney selling better dolls themselves. When they're manufacture and distribute themselves, they don't have to share profit with anyone so they can keep the price down. These dolls need to make a profit for Disney, Mattel, and whatever store is selling them like Amazon or Target, so they need to be more expensive so everyone gets something. Oh, believe me... ever since they released the Monster High Haunt Conture they gave us a big slap in the face for many, especially for those who are not from the United States, including many teenagers who grew up with the brand and did not have the opportunity to have one because of its "high exclusivity" (a Rainbow High doll beats them by a lot)... this is no longer surprising. Nothing is going to happen to Mattel if something really bad happens to them and I hope happens to them, they deserve it. They want to ruin MGA so much but they themselves don't propose it, maybe if Disney punishes them by taking away their license again It won't change anything, that's for sure.

  • @dolljunk
    @dolljunk 2 года назад +3

    Honestly, the worst part of Hasbro (and presumably Mattel's upcoming ones) dolls is how expensive the dolls are for what you get. In Australia, they're $16-$20ish which is more expensive than a Fashionista is and you get significantly less for your value. If these dolls are $5 then fine, whatever, but it's insulting knowing this low quality products are being charged at a premium.

    I'm really confused by these dolls, I think I also had really high expectations which was silly because it's Mattel. Like you mentioned in the video I'm interested in seeing whether or not they bring out a style series or even a collector's series. Even then I don't have much hope, I collect the signature dolls so I have all the £100-£125 dolls that's have come out in the past 2 years and they are still really, really bad in terms of quality imo with the exception of the first two pink collection dolls. We shall see.

  • @vittoriopiorosariosavasta7590
    @vittoriopiorosariosavasta7590 2 года назад +4

    I knew they would be like that
    I didn't have high expectations on quality, but I had expectations on face and clothing designs, I hoped they were accurate to the movies
    The faces are pretty accurate, but the clothes are bad, not only because it's all molded and with cheap skirts, but they're not movie-accurate at all!
    But I'll still buy my two favorite princesses, Ariel and Cinderella, because they're pretty
    I like Ariel's new face, sweet but also a little mature, but I HATE the mermaid version, why Mattel is obsessed with making Ariel’s tail with frills, swirls and weird fins?
    Plus the color change effect is BORING! They should make an Ariel swimming with the same design of the movie
    Cinderella is ok, cute face but disappointed that she doesn't have her iconic 50s fringe (I'm resigned by now, they will never make an accurate doll with strawberry blonde hair and silver dress)
    Now I understand a couple of things:
    These dolls are meant to be the cheap alternative to ShopDisney dolls, so Disney specifically told Mattel to make them like this, to encourage us collectors to buy ShopDisney dolls that are now the best on the market.
    And now it is clear that Mattel did not lose the license because the latest dolls were of low quality, but ONLY because of the Ever After High, which was an obvious competition for Disney Princess.
    So Disney is fine with these cheap dolls, as long as they're the only fairytale dolls on the market
    So I doubt that this playline dolls will improve and I strongly doubt that Mattel will make collector dolls, because they would be a dangerous rival for the ShopDisney limited edition dolls

  • @lourdesaidar9237

    At first I thought that Mattel after receiving the Disney princess license would do things right but I was wrong, because these dolls disappointed me and I think Disney should have given the license to MGA instead of returning it to Mattel in the first place and second is that surely the dolls of the Disney princesses will not last long in stores as happened to other more recent lines of dolls from mattel such as dc superhero girls wild hearts crew, cave club or creatible world

    and they wonder why kids get so bored with toys nowadays..its because most toys are so uninspired and bland what child is gonna wanna play with a hunk of plastic that you can’t do much with? I think the fun that comes with dolls is changing their clothes brushing their hair and posing them… if you can’t do that then what’s the point of having a doll

    • @TheStOne1
      @TheStOne1 2 года назад +1

      And also admire their beauty and quality, kids want dolls because they like it at first sight, maybe they don't know why exactly they like a specific doll but the designers should know what appeals to kids and it's not that different to what appeals us adult collectors.
      Who's gonna like a doll that looks like a stiff piece of plastic with a stiff skirt that looks like shower cap material and is not even puffy or elegant? They look like garbage, kids won't care for them.

    I was also expecting a lot more since I thought losing the license might have been a wake-up call. One thing I was thinking was that it's such a shame the clothes are molded to the doll because kids love to dress up their dolls and switch clothes but they can't do that with these.

    I was glad to hear that Mattel would be making the Disney dolls again. I don't like the Hasbro ones at all. But I was out of dolls for a while, so I didn't realize how bad the last Mattel Disney dolls were... and it's so depressing that they seemingly didn't improve them at all. I guess if I want a Disney doll, I'll go straight to the source and get them from the Disney Store. And the whole trend of sculpting/painting on clothes needs to stop. It only makes sense on dolls meant for water play, and even then that's unnecessary because A) the paint will eventually come off and B) fabric swimsuits for the dolls exist. Whoever thought that up needs to be strangled.

    It's an absolute shame. With the quality they've brought to the 2022 MH reboot(Regardless of how you feel about the designs, the articulation is pretty good and they have fabric clothing, which is, for some reason a high standard these days), I thought maybe we'd have dolls instead of statues with skirts. The heads are pretty good, but the plastic torsos will do terribly for consumers and the environment. On the other hand, ShopDisney's obsession with glitter isn't much better.

    Something that has always sat on my mind- if Disney didn't like the falling quality, they can say something about the product being created. What if they want these dolls to be incredibly basic and appeal to 2-5 year olds so that their own in house classic line is the better option?

    • @TheStOne1
      @TheStOne1 2 года назад +1

      That's why we complain. Disney Store should be making better dolls and let Mattel or whatever brand they chose make at least their current level of quality, which isn't that high... Why limit the others so their own cheap products stand out 🙄

    • @bradleyryan3762
      @bradleyryan3762 2 года назад

      @@TheStOne1 I think Disney Store dolls are great versions of a playline princess. Also keep in mind- their dolls aren't for collectors either. They're for 7 year olds so they're not going to be intricately designed. However I do agree that if they are asking Mattel to lower the quality or make a doll fit for a 3 year old, then they should also have the option to do something nicer? Then again- who knows what else Mattel has coming down the pipe?
