This fuel pump is not for the 2002-2006 Toyota Camry. Great video for the 2007 and up Toyota Camrys though

I have done the replacement of the fuel pump/filter assembly on an Avalon. It was surprisingly easy. Personally, I’d not just do the filter, but the entire assembly. I guarantee you complete this process quicker than paying off a new car (unless you buy in cash)

Amazing and instructional video. Just an observation, with much respect, for future videos. The dirty or maybe not working strainer should be replaced. Also, having taking into consideration customer budget… if that was the case, just clarify.

That job looks like a total pain in the ass to do! Why couldn't Toyota just use an inline filter attached to the gas line. I have had Hondas, VWs and Fords with in line gas filters that were easy to change every 100,000km.

I love that this says fuel filter for the video but it's about repairing a fuel pump.
Actually your incorrect the part he replaced it’s actually the fuel filter. These aren’t the common ones outside the car and cylinder this is another type.

The fuel filter should be changed after 50,000 to 60,000 km
What you replaced is called the fuel pump and sending unit. With the fuel screen.

Hi. I just asked Toyota dealer about fuel filter , and they answered me that it does not need to change fuel filter because it is installed in the tank. They recommend not to touch fuel filter on lifetime. But your old fuel filter looks pretty dirty. My car is 2011 Camry 230k. Do I need to change it? or not?
After the car has traveled 70 or 80,000 km, the fuel filter should be replaced
In the maintenance schedule for my 2014 camry it says replace at 150K. It was very dirty, same as in the video.
My 2007 Toyota Camry's manual says to replace the fuel filter every 50-75K miles.

You gotta be kidding me. You went thru all that time, effort and the cost of the parts and you didn't spend a few bucks more to replace that filthy fuel strainer.

This sounds just like my car, I’m at my wits end. I’ve taken it to theee mechanic shops already and poured so much money into it and still my car is broke down on the side of the road with me and my kids in it right now. It dies after a short time of driving it or if I go above a certain speed and takes like an hour to turn back on. I’m missing my dead grandmas ceremony right now and so crushed. I’m just going to check it myself and see if this is it. It has to be. I did replace the fuel pump too, but idk if it’s good or if it’s just the filter getting clogged

Just replace the fuel filter, by changing it your fuel injectors will always be fine and the vehicle will be running well.

@@MayoCarsDR well it’s honestly kind of a complex explanation. There’s a hole in the exhaust which doesn’t help but hasn’t been a problem at all. But lately on hot days it’s seemed to have an extremely hard time idling properly. And it’s stalled twice. 99% of the time it adjusts back to its normal idle.. spark plugs and coil packs are good. No check engine light. And can’t figure out if the filter is in my pump housing or external
Total waste of time. Just replace the entire fuel pump.
