I have to agree with your statement ben. I really appreciate the fact that you're a working man, and you don't necessarily do RUclips to get rich or not have to work. You do it to help others. We honestly need more people like that in this world

Fantastic video Ben. I have been trying to teach my 16 yr old son some if not all of the things you mentioned here in thus video. I have our boat very organized and bait boxes are clearly labeled and he still pulls everything out and leaves them all over the boat. He is getting better buy man it drives me crazy. Haha. He also gets stuck with what worked last time and if he does not get the bite he gets very discouraged so I let him know to cycle and think if they don't hit a top water bait maybe they want it at say 4 to 5 feet under the surface so try a squarebill or a chatterbait. He is finally understanding your key point of not going with a preconceived plan and let the fish tell you what they want instead. This was a great timed video as we slowly wrap up here in my area as the weather is getting very wet and cold now so maybe only one or two more times out before storing the boat for another season. Last comment Ben I have really tried some of your great ideas from St Clair and applied here on my big water of Lake Simcoe when I have a chance to go out. Helped a ton this season as I found new water to fish with success. Thanks again!

Good video, Ben. I'm with you, I also don't have a lot of time to get on the water. I'd also add to your first point to check your line. I use a lot of braid to fluoro and that means I'm re-tying the leaders and making sure it's a good length and with my all fluoro setups, I spray them with line conditioner the night before I go out so they can soak overnight with the conditioner on them. Keep the vids coming and tight lines!

Another tip especially for big water. Get a good wind app and watch it like crazy and make your game plan accordingly! Love the videos always Ben!

I think this is a topic that’s crazy missed. Most people don’t have time to get on the water every day or even every week. Glad you made this video. Solid content

Great video and reminders. My tip is rig for the day of fishing and being prepared. If the water is clear vs green, what you anticipate they will be biting etc. Do your best to have everything ready for your first cast and a couple rod changes.

This is a great one too! Wasting time on the water because you're not prepared or don't have your gear read to go is a big thing too. Thanks Matt!

    Hey Ben,
I’ve been a bass fisherman for 40+ years and the challenge for me is to keep things simple.
I love to collect lures and gear so when I go out for a day, I need to try to keep it simple and not try to use all my stuff.

Jim, I totally feel that as well. I have so much gear that it can be overwhelming. I've really tried to simplify my approach and baits over the years. I may make a video explaining what I've done (without having to actually get rid of the gear I've collected - obviously) :-)

Tip number 4 really stepped on my toes, I get so caught up in a rut sticking with one pattern if it is working or not. I need a lot of work on taking time to make changes. I don't know why, maybe it's. I think there will be a fish on the next cast when there hasn't been a fish on the last 18 casts. I'll work on my changes, thanks for letting me know it's OK to try something different. Joe

This took me a long time to realize as well. I'd go out and say they need to be biting xyz, and then when they're not, I'd just try to force it. The same thing happened hour to hour when bites would change, and I struggled to adjust. Breaking up my day really helped me make changes and evaluate changes throughout the day

At least you get to fish… work, building a truck, & health kept me from the water the last 2 years. Weather change about to make it 3 years. 😩😢
