  • I returned to Kangaroo Valley to fish and camp on this amazing river system. 2 nights camping and 3 days fishing.
On day one I launched and fished solo and camped solo overnight staying at Tiger Snake campsite. On day two I met my brother and friends to fish the Saturday and Sunday together. We camped at Acacia Flat on the Saturday night and had it all to ourselves. A great little spot.
Had a cracking trip even though the weather was a bit overcast with the odd shower etc. The fish were on the chew and we managed to land some quality fish. 39cm to 42cm which were great captures. We also landed a few pesky Carp which are unfortunately in the system.
I was amazed at how the Hobie lynx managed to carry all the gear for the trip including myself with no problem. A real workhorse. I had a tub on the back holding my tent (Durston Mid 2 P), sleeping pad, pillow, sleeping bag, Jet boil cooking system and gas. First aid, cooking utensils, plates, bowls.
I had a pelican case with my camera gear. A dry bag for all my clothes. I also had a Engel soft fridge for all the cold stuff. 5 lites of water, 3 fishing rods, the hobie crate with all my tackle and lures. I definitely felt the weight but could still stand and cast, and the Lynx was just as easy to manage.
On this trip I also tested the Zoleo GPS Iridium satellite device so that I still had the ability to contact family and also have the SOS feature in case of emergency.
This is episode 1 of 2.
I hope you enjoy it. I am already planning my next visit, and would like to explore the Shoalhaven Gorge west of Tallowa Dam.

Yes, such an awesome spot. Had such a great time. The perfect balance of switching off and enjoying the area and some camping along with chasing Bass. ET filmed an episode so I look forward to seeing it air. Had already planned to go again in the school holidays but may hold off due to the big flood recently and also Tallowa Dam Rd is closed for 3 months to be repaired. Thx Mick 👍🏼
