    I love my Lynx on its third season fishing a shallow river mostly. I have beat the crap out of it and had no hull damage whatsoever. It will float over anything deeper that 3" the draft is amazing. I paid $2500 I do not believe they should cost $3200. I would probably have passed on it at that price. Hobie is going to price itself out of the game.

      I wanted one when it came out and couldn't believe the price. Decided to wait to see long term reviews, but that shit has been getting way too expensive!

    I have one, I like it, but another con is that it is a slow kayak compared to the revo, compass and passport. Because it is so flat It doesn't cut through the water as well.

    I sold my Feelfree Lure 11.5 (not a great yak, pedal drive and rudder not good), and have been using my wife's Lynx for river fishing. It is, for me, quite possibly the perfect kayak for rec and fishing use. The modular components are superb, it's easy to load, unload, and rig out for a day on the water. It turns on a dime, and forward/reverse fins work awesome, the seat is adequate for 4-5 hrs on the water (with a Kayak Cushion). It is stable enough for me (200#) to easily stand up on too. It's no Pro Angler, but for a more minimalistic style of fisherman (myself), it is about perfect.

      How was your experience with noise on the Feelfree pedal drive? The one I took out was very noisy

    • @fishtacoguy
      @fishtacoguy Год назад

      @@thebeardedpaddler mine was not so bad on noise, but my pedal unit saw little use. It was bad in the weeds (where I spend a good amount of time fishing), constantly tangled and having to stop, hoist the drive up, and clean wrapped weeds from the prop. I know they call for yearly cleaning and greasing, which might be the reason for excessive noise. The rudder kit (8-Ball) was of poor design too IMO, stiff, cables loosened and steering was sluggish. Plus, for as big as the Lure was, I felt it to be less stable than the Lynx. Hobie has it together with the Mirage drive and the cable rudder on the Lynx is top notch.

    Yeah, the price is high but show me something better than the Mirage drive on the market for much less money. The positives in this thingy by far outweigh the negatives. Lightweight, nimble, fast, comfy…and yeah, lightweight indeed. 😊

    Seems like we are willing to call anything a kayak these days. This is certainly more of a board, I know, splitting atoms
    $3299??? NO WAY! It looks like a fun watercraft and I would love to give it a spin but they will never get me for the price they are asking. In my opinion that is absurd! I still love ya though!

    I have the 2019 outback which I use in Puget sound Washington to fish, which has mostly rocky beaches and oysters. While it is a very stable kayak, one has to really pay attention to wind and tide current as this is a beast to make headway in when the conditions turn slightly sour and not in your favor. I would love to have something with better pedaling efficiency like the Lynx but that hull construction is TOO fragile after hearing about punctures in the hull. If they do come out with a rotomolded version I would definitely consider one. The Revolution is too narrow and tippy and the passport or compass is to close in comparison to the outback to justify the price. Have you seen the soon to be released Bonafide SKF 117 which looks very similar to the Lynx but more cockpit oriented. Only problem is NO pedal drive.... yet?!??

    This is a very informative review. I have an outback and love it, but it is heavy and especially when I use my trailer to a nearby launch I think I would benefit from having a lighter yak that I can unload and load without strain. I'm 78 and want something I can fish with when I'm 88! The high price annoys me. The cost of production for this kayak has to be way below that for an Outback, yet they are priced about the same.

    I own a 2022 and 2023 Lynx, if you shop smart you can find dealers that want to offload them at certain times of year. I was able to get the 2022 for $2,400, and the 2023 for $2,200.

    For 3299, it should come with the 360 drive and H rails as standard equipment. The fact that it doesn't, the paper thin hull, and the hull slap is a hard pass.

    • @tonyg3091
      @tonyg3091 Год назад

      360 is something you absolutely do not need on this. H rails on the other hand are a must.

      @@tonyg3091 at that price full deck matt for sure. Some of us do not want the h-rails I would hate to have them on my lynx. The two short tracks and a crate cover all my needs. I would be nice if they had extended the tracks further forward and back but then we would not need to buy more Hobie accessories.
