    Thank you Storrs South for publishing this piece. As a long time Lady Huskies fan, I am too emotionally invested in all the players that came through the program. Picking the top 10 would be akin to picking your favorite child-I just can’t do it.

    Stewie for me, to predict then lead her team to 4 straight chips all while earning numerous individual awards, including four straight MOP awards is by far deserving of the #1 ranking.

    • @NerdDrunk
      @NerdDrunk 5 лет назад

      Nope. If you look at the Team Stewie played with versus the players Diana played with, you can't compare. Diana carried her team in her junior and Senior year. She went to 4 final fours.

    • @m.r.browning2065

      @@NerdDrunk So, Diana still didn't win 4 straight chips. You can't tell me that they could've won 1 let alone 4 chips w/o Stewie who at times carried her team!

      @Mark Cianfarani , babe ruth ?? Pleez! Stewie has better stats-either matched or surpassed Taurasi's career numbers as a Sophomore w/4 straight chips while going 105-5! Yes, Stewie played with Blue chippers, but they couldn't have won w/o her!

    • @m.r.browning2065
      @m.r.browning2065 4 года назад

      @Mark Cianfarani, yes it is about stats as well as accomplishments. It's how players are measured. But, I'm willing to rank them 1A&1B, interchangeably. While I can't ignore Diana's 3 straight chips(2002-04), I'm partial Stewie being able to fulfill her 4straight chip(2 of which she won nearly singlehandedly) prediction, which she gave before playing one gm. Who does that as a freshman? Nobody, before Stewie! Geno said, after winning each chip, he never had a greater player than Stewie&never will. If you know anything about who Geno is, you know he wouldn't use those words willy-nilly. So, I'll just take Coach GA's word over any silly ranking!

    @jtoddjb 6 лет назад +7

    Omg Mo at #10 ? Yeah she has the most assists and all that. Yes people have such short memories, but she also almost always negated the others teams best guards which was often their best player. She was easily a top 10 point guard, but was one of the absolute best defenders and leaders (including the stuff most don't see in practice and on the road) She was extremely durable and only missed a handful of games. Yes she had a great supporting cast, but look how many teams have had some great players such as Coates, Mitchell, and Wilson who at times struggled because they didn't have a point guard getting them the ball when they needed it. They lost games they shouldn't have because teams took away the inside or some aspect of their game. Moriah never allowed Stewie and Tuck to be taken out of a game and could take a game over herself if need be. I realize this isn't an easy list to make, but Moriah should be top 5. I think this list favors the older players quite a lot.

    This seems weird seeing the stats and records of the teams when players played. Basketball is such a team effort so a lot of times I think people assume that the best player on the winningest team deserves to be amongst the greats but I disagree. Solid list but just as an individual basketball player Maya should hands down be #1. Nobody almost in women’s basketball history was more athletic, strong, fast, and could do more than her. One on one bone of these players would beat her, and yes even Stewie or Diana.

    This should be titled " The best players that played at UConn in alphabetical order and should number 100. Then after you do the hundred do a top ten goats in alphabetical order. There is no number one for everyone, or ten for that matter because the importance of the team behind each player determines their greatness as much as individual ability. Tough to quantify subjectivity when you're sober.

    DT is #1 hands down. She was tough both mentally and physically. She played on a loaded team her Freshman and Sophomore year, then would lead a group of youngins her Junior and Senior year and still have success while unhealthy at times (bad ankle, sore back and etc) . Job well done! I believe Coach Auriemma on her being an @$$hole as well. I can see her being like that too! She was good and she knew it. As thankful as he was to have her, I'm sure he was just as glad when she graduated! #IJS 😂😂

    No doubt Taurasi's a great player, but I lost a lot of respect for her when she scored her 1000th 3-pt shot and yelled out "Motherf****r!" in front of a WNBA crowd that included hundreds of grade-school girls, who were there as part of a school-team promotional event. And while I agree with the commentator who said that with the game on the line in the waning seconds, there's no one she'd rather have with the ball in her hands than Taurasi, at the start of a championship game, with 40 full minutes of offense AND defense to be played, I'll take Stewie every time.
