Absolutely agree with this. I attended UConn from 86-90. He and Phil Gamble with just-hired Jim Calhoun turned Uconn from the worst team in the Big East to NIT champions that won the Big East Tournament the next year. Calhoun is obviously a great coach who got the most out of his talent, but Cliff was the talent that got them started on their run.
Donyell Marshall is top-5. He was so unbelievably dominant his junior year of college that it's probably the best single season any UConn player has ever had, and his sophomore season wasn't too far behind it. And Cliff Robinson needs to be on this list, even if it bumps Khalid El-Amin off of it. "Uncle Cliffy" was the real deal. Averaged almost 20 points a game for 3 straight years, to go with 8 rebounds per game over that same stretch. But all in all, very solid list. Well done.
Donyell Marshall is the reason I became a UCONN fan. I think he deserves top 5. When I was young I saw him throw down an amazing dunk. From that time I began following them and became a fan by the end of that season. I am a gambler so I don't have favorite teams because it skews your bets except for UCONN. My only favorites are UCONN in men's basketball and Kyle Busch in NASCAR. I don't have a favorite team or player in anything else.
Dammmm you could easily make a top 50 with no problem.uconn resume is sneaky sneaky good. And now Hurley is gonna be getting all the dope players in the tri-state easy to make them formidable once again
Amazing that this was created 8 years ago! Most broken ankles? Kemba Walker. This list needs to go out to 20 players or even more to get them all in. Could #1 be on the current roster? No love for Scott Burrell? He was one of my favorite players.
Kemba's run in 2010-2011 tops either of them. No offense to Ray or Ben. But Kemba had a force of will that elevated that team from mediocrity to greatness.
One year is not enough to make a top 10 list. Caron is a bit of a push at 2 years, but he was a truly next level type player in college. Man if he was on that 2004 team, they would have been undefeated and likely put on a post season run like the team did the past 2 years
I would assume before watching the video that richard hamilton ray allen kemba walker emeka oakafor ben gordon shabazz napier rudy gay caron butler clifford robinson hasheem thabeat or andre drummond are the top 10 ...they are the 11 best ..
I cry every time. Nice video I was very impressed with this list, if I were to make my own list there wouldn't be too many alterations, if any at all. #BleedBlue # UconnUcan
You kind of glossed over the fact that Donyell was responsible for the loss to Florida. I'll never forgive those two blown foul shots, and for me, they knock him off the list. I'd have Toby Kimball there instead - but if Chris Smith was before your time, you probably haven't even heard of Kimball. Also, I'd have to argue that Kemba and Emeka are 1A and 1B. They both only played 3 years (but both left Storrs with degrees!)
I could agree with Kemba and Emeka being co-best Uconn Huskies ever. They both were elite athletes and elite students...not to mention they both won titles. Also, they played completely different positions (apples and oranges), Kemba was a scoring point guard...Emeka was a scoring shot blocking center.
UConn really needs a Top 20. Definitely some recency bias here. Kemba's run was unforgettable but in totality its hard to say he had the best career in Uconn history. Jeremy Lamb was on that 2011 team and would be in top 20 as well
I agree. Wes was phenomal 3 point shooter when there were no 3 pointers. I watched him play 4 years. It is hard to not include the others, so I'd make him number 11.
I appreciate you doing this video for us UCONN fans. But I was in high school when UCONN lost in the Elite 8 in 1998. It WASN'T too UCLA. It was too Antwan Jamison and Vince Carter for UNC. I'll NEVER forget how Antwan and Vince was man handling UCONN like we was some little boys. 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
At 7:43 let me correct you on Rip Hamilton's run to the sweet 16. Uconn did not lose to UCLA in 1998...that was the North Carolina Tar Heels by a score of 75-64. Uconn lost to UCLA in the elite 8 back in 1995 by a score of 102-96...a game where Ray Allen truly shined in a losing effort. And yes, I agree Kemba Walker should be #1 on this list. That guy truly was a masterpiece of scoring and leadership on the floor, my all time favorite Uconn Husky!
Kemba over Gordon and more cause Kemba championship team wasn’t better than Gordons. Ray Allen was and is the finest player UCONN has ever had. I know this is subjective but if you ever got to see him play at UCONN and in that big east man was he phenomenal!
Ray...Rip...Svetlana...Diana....my Mt. Rushmore...I lived two blocks away from nykeesha sales and know her cousins...loved the 90s even tho I was young but still...my hometown grows greatness...we have Dwight Freeney. .Cory sheets...Andrew pinnock...Marcus Cooper...plus multiple track stars...CT ALL DAY
Michael Anthony unfortunately he was on that team that lost to George Mason when they shouldn’t have. That team was more talented then Kemba and Napier team and yet choked in the tournament. I liked Rudy Gay but he disappoints for being on that team
Sorry, Ray and Rip are 1 and 2 (you can pick either as the top spot). I love most of the players on the list (really all of them), but taking the NBA accomplishments out of it, Ray and Rip still stand above all the rest in the Uconn Careers.
Ray Allen SECOND of ALL TIME behind Kemba. Here's how I will absolutely KILL anyone else's argument. (1) Ray Allen may ONLY have reached the Sweet 16 in 1996. But LOOK AT HIS DRAFT CLASS!!!!!! THE GREATEST NBA DRAFT CLASS OF ALL TIME!!!!!!! (2) Kemba Walker led a team full of freshman and WON the championship. CAN'T ARGUE NOBODY ELSE OVER them being TOP TWO!
the metrics here are top heavy, kemba had ONE amazing year. No way should he be one. Im just glad i didnt see taliek brown on this list. the guy was all over the place until his senior season and was a great passing point guard, yet other lists have t brown in it, what a joke. people could argue all day, but that is a good thing for a uconn fan, because we had a bunch of great players. All I have to say is that Kemba had the greatest transformation from year 2 to 3 and caron butler is second from year 1 to 2.
Well, Kemba actually did ok in his first two seasons...he didn't need to have more than one great year to be the number one player on this list. And that one year was enough (in my opinion) to earn him top honors. He was unstoppable scoring and his mental toughness and terrific leadership and resilience leading his team to the improbable Big East and eventual national title....thats what separates him from the rest.
Kevin Ollie sucked as head coach back to back below 500 seasons, unable to recruit good players and unable to retain quality players. Since Hurley has taken over things are looking good. Already three top 100 players next year and strong possibility for 2 more. That team that won in 2014 was all players Calhoun recruited. Napier and Boatright led that team to championship there leadership. Giffey is also a forgotten hero.
True. Ray Allen's team lost to UCLA in the Elite Eight. UCLA had the O'Bannons and Tyus Edny at the time. Toby Bailey, too. Hamilton's team lost to the UNC squad that had Rasheed Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse on it.
Kemba was definitely better in college. Bazz was great but I think people don’t give the Boatshow the credit he deserves for that 2014 team. Bazz takes all the credit when it was in reality like 60/40 at least. Boat locked down that defense and took a lot of pressure off Bazz on offense.
"Donnell Marshall was MOSTLY known for his 3 pt shooting in the NBA" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 🤣 WHO TOLD YOU THAT???!!!!!! He's MOSTLY KNOWN for playing with LeBron at the end of his career. Hell, I actually might be wrong about that. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I LOVE Donnell Marshall. But he was ONLY KNOWN in the NBA for playing for the Cavs and getting a couple of blocked shots here and there. THAT'S IT!!!!!
NO NO NO NO NO NO. Ray Allen is NOT #1. He's 7 at BEST. Why? NO FUCKING TITLE at UCONN!!!! That's all that matters. He's also behind Chris Smith, Donyell Marshall, and Caron Butler. Pro accomplishments DO NOT MATTER
Cliff Robinson should have been on this list as his era started the UCONN Dynasty((86-89)
"Uncle Cliffy" should not only be on the list, he's pretty close to top-5 in my opinion, if you look at his career numbers at UConn.
Elder Ernest E Richard Jr you are spot on
Absolutely agree with this.
@@Mattypesq Who comes off for Cliff to get on?
@@cedorry El Amin. Honestly I think there are about 5 guys not on this list that should be ranked above El Amin.
Donyell Marshall is top-5. He was so unbelievably dominant his junior year of college that it's probably the best single season any UConn player has ever had, and his sophomore season wasn't too far behind it. Averaged almost 20 points a game for 3 straight years, to go with 8 rebounds per game over that same stretch. But all in all, very solid list. Well done.
No Clifford Robinson? He put UConn on the map...RIP big Man
I went to UConn with him. He was a really nice guy. Fuck Cancer
Donyell Marshall is the reason I became a UCONN fan. I think he deserves top 5. When I was young I saw him throw down an amazing dunk. Chris Smith is a lock top 5. Simply bcuz he was one of the first huskies to lay down what we all know now as an elite program
Daron Scheffer was my favorite UCONN point guard!
Yes.
Dammmm you could easily make a top 50 with no problem.uconn resume is sneaky sneaky good. And now Hurley is gonna be getting all the dope players in the tri-state easy to make them formidable once again
no way chris smith is not top 5 all time

I went to high school with Chris Smith, his handle was ridiculous.
Kolbe
niels won 2 championships as well
Ben Gordon, is my favorite UConn players. His jumper was (De nastiest)Wet... Great NBA player to.
Benny G at 6 is higher than what he should be but also exactly where he should be. Good work on that one my man
I think Ray Allen or Ben Gordon should be number one tbh. What Ray Allen did to UCLA was unreal.
Kemba's run in 2010-2011 tops either of them. No offense to Ray or Ben. But Kemba had a force of will that elevated that team from mediocrity to greatness.
@@TheeRandyC Absolutely!

Uconn had so many great players its amazing
love it. khalid el-amin is my favorite uconn player ever. go huskies!
Top 10 without Jonathan Mandeldove? Come on.
Shoutout to Greg Cyrulik
Im looking for Drummond, Jeremy Lamb, Charlie Villanueva, Thabeet, Rudy Gay, Marcus Williams, Kevin Ollie, Hilton Armstrong . Where are they?
Kemba was a star the moment he came. He was the highest ranked pg in his class on some sites. McDonald's All-American etc
I would assume before watching the video that richard hamilton ray allen kemba walker emeka oakafor ben gordon shabazz napier rudy gay caron butler clifford robinson hasheem thabeat or andre drummond are the top 10 ...they are the 11 best ..
Chris Smith is #6. You had to see him play in person to appreciate him.
Absolutely loved this video!
no you nailed it.
Went to U of H, but lived in Storrs and worked on Uconn campus. This list is perfect...can't disagree with anything.

kemba was a All American when he came to UCONN....
Rashod Anderson all time Fav
The Dagger hit clutch 3’s!!! He’s gotta be one of the best three point shooters in UConn history!

Richard Hamilton n Ray Allen..Top 2 of all time

Ray Allen is the greatest player to come out of UConn..... nice list

11:35 did not age well.
my teachers nephew is tyler olander lol

Chris Smith being number 9 is a travesty. Maybe you should have talked to a life long Uconn fan before you made the list.
Why isn't Stanley Robinson on this list?????
I know rip didn't lose to ucla he lost to north Carolina
True. Ray Allen's team lost to UCLA in the Elite Eight. UCLA had the O'Bannons and Tyus Edny at the time. Toby Bailey, too. Hamilton's team lost to the UNC squad that had Rasheed Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse on it.
Yeah so how did shabazz not get #1 if we're basing this purely of of a UCONN career and not nba careers
UnbeatenWolf Cuz Kemba is obviously better
Brahoo yeah, maybe in the NBA but college career wise shabazz carried his team and helped kemba another year
In no universe did Shabazz Napier have a better individual college career at UConn than Kemba Walker, Richard Hamilton, Ray Allen or Emeka Okafor.
Kemba was definitely better in college. Bazz was great but I think people don’t give the Boatshow the credit he deserves for that 2014 team. Bazz takes all the credit when it was in reality like 60/40 at least. Boat locked down that defense and took a lot of pressure off Bazz on offense.
