Richard “Rip” Hamilton was a beast in this tournament - nobody could stop him. Great player for the Pistons in his NBA career too - with one NBA title.
Duke and UConn were clearly the top 2 teams that entire college basketball season. For most of the year they were either ranked 1 or 2 in the polls. They were on a collision course. It's always great to see the clear 2 best teams in CB actually meet in the tournament, for the title no less. Classic championship game.

Ricky Moore's defense in the last minute vs Langdon was legendary. The previous possession, Ricky Moore forced Langdon into a traveling violation. Ricky Moore stepped up on both sides during this game.
This was the Duke Invitational Tournament. NOBODY thought any team could keep up with Duke. Give credit across the board. UCONN had a great game plan and was able to exert its will on Duke when no one else could.
Neither is true....best championship game is Villanova vs north carolina....Best game ever is Duke vs Kentucky ( the Christian laettner shot) uconn vs Syracuse 6 OT is next..I'm a Syracuse fan

Im a Duke fan but UCONN was better team. And i didn't want them to play them cause they would beat him. And it was also one of best championship games i ever saw in my top 5 all time. Still very proud of my Duke squad had a great year. But all props and salute UCONN. They earned it

Coach K has 5 national titles and is just a few baskets away from possibly having around 10 if you look back at 1986, 1994, 1999 and 2004 in the Final Four where they lost by a hoop, then look at 1998, 2002, 2006 and 2019 where he had top-ranked teams that got clipped prior to the Final Four that would have been the favorites to win it all had they gotten that far based on the draw they would have had.
My childhood friends Dad is still angry about his favorite coffee table that got absolutely disintegrated by 8 lifelong Uconn fans highly intoxicated going batshit craZy after that last play, just a incredibly impressive performance by so many Uconn players in this game, I was just thinking watching this game so close and then how last year’s Uconn team won every tournament game by double digits

Trajan Langdon was wrongly criticize about this game. He had a very good game. Moore just played great defense but he had a great game overall.
