I remember watching this game living in KY as a young kid when Arizona won the title the players hollered "Bring home the Loot (Lute)". They won that championship for Coach Olsen. He will be missed!!

Kentucky was so stacked in the 96 and 97 seasons. Derek Anderson had a season-ending injury early in the year but they still got within the cusp of a second straight championship.
The 97 was still good. But the 96 team was so outrageously unfair. In 96, they had a ton of future NBA players who were at the end of the bench. The entire team was filled with NBA players.

Arizona is the ONLY team to beat 3 #1 seeds in the tournament ... talk about a magic carpet ride through the tournament. They earned it big time.

Derek anderson said at the barbershop mitch richmond was harder to guard than kobe.
Probably so. Also, Nazr Mohamed was great for them in this game, so you can't blame him - but, on one had, he gave them offense and an inside presence, but on the other, he shot 0-6 from the FT line, which was killer.
If only Nazr could hit FT’s in that game. If Anderson would have played Zona would have been done for too.
