      @worldtipper, while "politically" it's true what you said, the reality is no one has no control of the ethnicity they're born into.
      That was the excuse of Lenin and the Bolsheviks to takeover the government and country. Lenin didn't do the poor people in the country any better than the Monarchy. Like my Late Mother used to say, "you can justify anything, Right or Wrong, if you try hard enough". I feel, even if the Romanovs were ruling the country, "right", Lenin would've found a way to overthrow the government, because he felt he was, "right".

      They were first cousins to most of the royal houses of Europe including Kiser Wilhelm. Any number of the royal houses of Europe could have at least tried to save them. Unfortunately the reality was that the Bolsheviks would have never allowed that to happen. They didn’t realize how deeply in trouble they were fast enough and the girls all caught the measles and couldn’t be moved. Bizarrely Nicolas and Alexandra were deeply in denial of the whole situation. A lot of royal houses lost power during this time period and there was real fears of it spreading across Europe. We also need to remember that Czar Nicolas was an absolute monarch and there wasn’t a parliamentary system in place in Russia. By the time they understood that they needed sanctuary it was already to late. They were the prisoners of the Bolsheviks. The whole debate was too little too late. Lenin killed well over three million people. Including peasants that revolted against his authoritarian regime. The Romanovs represent a handful of the mass killings under Lenin. Prince Phillip gave his DNA to identify their bodies. He was the grand nephew of Alexandra as a descendant of the Greek and Danish monarchies.

    As a person whose country is located near Yekaterinburg, I can assure you that despite the status, neither Lenin, nor Trotsky, nor Sverdlov, nor anyone important from the top of the newly formed Soviet Republic gave the order to shoot the royal family. It was just lynching, which the common people did not want to resist, if not even the other way around.
    The identity and years of Nicholas's reign remain controversial: he is reproached for the so-called "Bloody Sunday", but he did not give a personal order to shoot the common people, everything was decided for him.
    Nikolai's fatal mistake was that he dragged and so dragged the recovered Russia from the war with Japan into the very inferno - the First World War. Russian Russians were sent to the front, but the Russian Empire is a big country, and while Russians were fighting at the front, other nations (including my Kazakh ancestors) also worked for the benefit of the Russian military and the pocket of the government. People died both at hard work and at the front, while instead of Nicholas, his wife and the mysterious Rasputin ruled - a so-so idea, putting a wife and an illiterate commoner in the place of the commander.
    The funniest thing about all this is that Russia was moving towards industrial development like its European neighbors, but these two wars (Russian-Japanese and World War I) threw it back to the level of development years ago... 40-50 years ago. Nicholas, with a confident chest, went to stand up for someone else's "brotherly" Serbia, turning a blind eye to his own peoples, and lost this war in disgrace. Yes, even if he had won this war, I don't think it would have borne its long-awaited fruits - after all, this is a damn Pyrrhic victory - a victory that would have come with great losses when the loser comes out more victorious than the winner himself (I apologize for the tautology).
    Russian Russians and other former Soviet peoples are still proud of the victory in the Great Patriotic War (the war between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union). And so, as a person living in a part of former Russia (my country was in the possession of the Russians from 1731 to 1991), I keep you informed, and I will tell you a secret, my English-speaking friends: Russians, and other former Soviet peoples are still proud of the victory in the Great Patriotic War (the war between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union The Union), although almost eighty years have passed since those events.
    And the irony is that the Germans who lost live better than us and the ancestors who fought there.
    As I said earlier, if Nicholas had stayed in power, the situation could have been worse - even Russians do not praise him as well as Peter the Great.
    Gentlemen from the Western world, I know that you also have a difficult situation: people from the former colonies of your countries are putting their own order - the so-called "boomerang effect". But I sincerely wish you and me happy prosperity, and our children, in this difficult time (and yes, despite all the contradictory policies of the Russians on my lands, I am grateful to them anyway. Don't blame Russia - blame only your government and Putin)

    Alright I'm done with the ideological driven sobs in this comment section. Yes, Nicholas was a good man and father but the dude was a horrible Tsar, Nicholas doesn't exactly harbor a strong character that suits the position of a leader, he can be easily influenced by his advisors, the man hoarded all the power in an age where the people want a more fair system, he let a monk tarnish his and his wife's image, he barley made any changes in Russia's armed forces after it's defeat to Japan that made Russia get hit hard by the Germans, performed horribly in his role as commander-in-chief.
    And all of that is why the communists were able to rise to power by exploiting all negative attributes of Nicholas's reign and Nicholas himself. Quit seeing history through the lens on your personal ideology, if you believe in an ideology then you shouldn't have the right to learn history. Seen too many ideological nutjobs like communists, fascists, Nazis, socialists rewriting history for their own agenda.

    • @semiramisrosarot
      @semiramisrosarot Год назад +1

      To your knowledge? Tsarist Russian history is not your specialty, it seems. Blocking any attempts at letting the people's voice be heard, assuming divine rights over any other reasonable policies, letting people be massacred in 1905, prosecuting Jews, getting the country involved in a war and being a shitty military leader, living in luxury when the people were starving, being easily manipulated by factions at court because neither you nor your wife were able nor willing to really learn the craft of governing, being a shitty monarch to a huge and rapidly changing empire but not willing to step down when all signs pointed to revolution. Just like Louis XI Nicholas II was a weak leader who cared for his wealth and was a rather good father while his people was starving and didn't know how to feed their kids. He didn't acknowledge the realities around him, let himself egged on by his rather unsophisticated wife, and had to suffer the consequences. This is why revolutions happen: a dissatisfied populace getting rid of its superrich freeloaders.

    What happened? They were told that they were to come down to this room for a photo. The photo was to be taken to reassure the people that they were healthy and secure. It was a big fat lie. Alexandra had the girls sew diamonds in the girls corsets, they weren't stupid and had a funny feeling that "something" was going to happen.
    They were told told to sit at a table. So then they had a message to give first before the picture. This soldier pulls out this card and starts reading off these insulting degrading charges. Nicolas jumps up shouting and this Russian shouts "fire". Bullets were bouncing off the bodies of the women due to the diamonds. That's why their faces were destroyed. The soldiers stripped the bodies and stacked them like cord wood on a trailer for disposal. So they tried burning them....ALEXI and Anastasia. It stank and took too long...they took the rest and dumped them in a mine shaft. Now Anastasia didn't want to die. YOU CAN'T SAY GOD ISN'T GOOD! GOD allowed her soul to find a body.
