Very tragic what happened to the Romanovs. The Czar's relatives in England should've gave them sanctuary; but they were more concerned about politics. I've read that Czar Nicolas wasn't interested in being ruler, he would've been happy being a gentleman farmer.
They were first cousins to most of the royal houses of Europe including Kiser Wilhelm. Any number of the royal houses of Europe could have at least tried to save them. Unfortunately the reality was that the Bolsheviks would have never allowed that to happen. They didn’t realize how deeply in trouble they were fast enough and the girls all caught the measles and couldn’t be moved. Bizarrely Nicolas and Alexandra were deeply in denial of the whole situation. A lot of royal houses lost power during this time period and there was real fears of it spreading across Europe. We also need to remember that Czar Nicolas was an absolute monarch and there wasn’t a parliamentary system in place in Russia. By the time they understood that they needed sanctuary it was already to late. They were the prisoners of the Bolsheviks. The whole debate was too little too late. Lenin killed well over three million people. Including peasants that revolted against his authoritarian regime. The Romanovs represent a handful of the mass killings under Lenin. Prince Phillip gave his DNA to identify their bodies. He was the grand nephew of Alexandra as a descendant of the Greek and Danish monarchies.

I read somewhere that one of the soldiers who carried out the orders wrote in his journal that the daughters (including Anastasia) didn't die right away because they had secretly sewn jewels into their dresses in hopes of having money when they got "released". Those jems reflected some of the bullets so it took more rounds to kill them.😢

From the February revolution of 1917 to their execution in 1918 the family were in effective captivity and underwent 18 months of varying degrees of psychological abuse by the guards. They tried to keep hope and had a strong religious faith. This was a story waiting for a happy ending but it was not a fairy tale - far from it. The ending was as bad as it could have possibly been- especially for the girls.

Let's remember, Britian had offered to send a ship and get them out of Russia. Russia would have left them leave. The Windsors said NO to the idea. The Romanov's and Windsors were cousins.
As a person whose country is located near Yekaterinburg, I can assure you that despite the status, neither Lenin, nor Trotsky, nor Sverdlov, nor anyone important from the top of the newly formed Soviet Republic gave the order to shoot the royal family. It was just lynching, which the common people did not want to resist, if not even the other way around. The identity and years of Nicholas's reign remain controversial: he is reproached for the so-called "Bloody Sunday", but he did not give a personal order to shoot the common people, everything was decided for him. Nikolai's fatal mistake was that he dragged and so dragged the recovered Russia from the war with Japan into the very inferno - the First World War. Russian Russians were sent to the front, but the Russian Empire is a big country, and while Russians were fighting at the front, other nations (including my Kazakh ancestors) also worked for the benefit of the Russian military and the pocket of the government. People died both at hard work and at the front, while instead of Nicholas, his wife and the mysterious Rasputin ruled - a so-so idea, putting a wife and an illiterate commoner in the place of the commander. The funniest thing about all this is that Russia was moving towards industrial development like its European neighbors, but these two wars (Russian-Japanese and World War I) threw it back to the level of development years ago... 40-50 years ago. Nicholas, with a confident chest, went to stand up for someone else's "brotherly" Serbia, turning a blind eye to his own peoples, and lost this war in disgrace. Yes, even if he had won this war, I don't think it would have borne its long-awaited fruits - after all, this is a damn Pyrrhic victory - a victory that would have come with great losses when the loser comes out more victorious than the winner himself (I apologize for the tautology). Russian Russians and other former Soviet peoples are still proud of the victory in the Great Patriotic War (the war between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union). And so, as a person living in a part of former Russia (my country was in the possession of the Russians from 1731 to 1991), I keep you informed, and I will tell you a secret, my English-speaking friends: Russians, and other former Soviet peoples are still proud of the victory in the Great Patriotic War (the war between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union The Union), although almost eighty years have passed since those events. And the irony is that the Germans who lost live better than us and the ancestors who fought there. As I said earlier, if Nicholas had stayed in power, the situation could have been worse - even Russians do not praise him as well as Peter the Great. Gentlemen from the Western world, I know that you also have a difficult situation: people from the former colonies of your countries are putting their own order - the so-called "boomerang effect". But I sincerely wish you and me happy prosperity, and our children, in this difficult time (and yes, despite all the contradictory policies of the Russians on my lands, I am grateful to them anyway. Don't blame Russia - blame only your government and Putin)
The brutality of how they were killed. Like honestly, just kill them, dont make a big show out of it. Or else they were just useless at killing, but they butchered them.
I want to say that there is no evidence of Lenin giving a order to kill the family it was much more the order of the town leader who was really againts the family. Lenin didn't give out a specific order.

Alright I'm done with the ideological driven sobs in this comment section. Yes, Nicholas was a good man and father but the dude was a horrible Tsar, Nicholas doesn't exactly harbor a strong character that suits the position of a leader, he can be easily influenced by his advisors, the man hoarded all the power in an age where the people want a more fair system, he let a monk tarnish his and his wife's image, he barley made any changes in Russia's armed forces after it's defeat to Japan that made Russia get hit hard by the Germans, performed horribly in his role as commander-in-chief. And all of that is why the communists were able to rise to power by exploiting all negative attributes of Nicholas's reign and Nicholas himself. Quit seeing history through the lens on your personal ideology, if you believe in an ideology then you shouldn't have the right to learn history. Seen too many ideological nutjobs like communists, fascists, Nazis, socialists rewriting history for their own agenda.

Where living conditions were so bad that people who worked could still starve? Things weren’t great in other European countries either but Russia was by far the worst place to be poor in the continent.
this family is not actually dead (legitimately) Nicholas's sister made it out of the country and to Canada where she lived in Toronto until her death in 1960 at the age of 78....she had at least 2 children who died in 1984 and 1993 respectively....i think they may have had children as well.
Shameful of the people that executed this family. They trusted their captors and, to my knowledge, never did anything to hurt the Russian people. But it’s not like all the Russian people wanted them dead!
Never did anything to hurt the Russian people? Have you read a single page of Russian history? Royal family sent thousands of people to Siberia and executed thousands of Jews .
"Never did anything to hurt the Russian people" the Romanovs sat on gilded chairs and played with Fabergé eggs while the general Russian population were illiterate peasants on the brink of starvation. Revolution is a natural response to such harsh inequality.
To your knowledge? Tsarist Russian history is not your specialty, it seems. Blocking any attempts at letting the people's voice be heard, assuming divine rights over any other reasonable policies, letting people be massacred in 1905, prosecuting Jews, getting the country involved in a war and being a shitty military leader, living in luxury when the people were starving, being easily manipulated by factions at court because neither you nor your wife were able nor willing to really learn the craft of governing, being a shitty monarch to a huge and rapidly changing empire but not willing to step down when all signs pointed to revolution. Just like Louis XI Nicholas II was a weak leader who cared for his wealth and was a rather good father while his people was starving and didn't know how to feed their kids. He didn't acknowledge the realities around him, let himself egged on by his rather unsophisticated wife, and had to suffer the consequences. This is why revolutions happen: a dissatisfied populace getting rid of its superrich freeloaders.
I remember the time the Soviets murdered children and hacked all their arms and legs off and put them in massive piles and even took pictures of it, so I feel like the death of the Tsar was basically just one of those events leading to the murders done by the Soviets where if it got out people would’ve realized they would just keep killing to get their way.
The soldiers didn’t mutilate the bodies to hid their identities. They did it because they could. They took their frustrations out on the one they blamed for their lots in life. They saw they were rich and lived a lavish lifestyle while they themselves were dying of starvation. Soldiers dying in stupid wars under bad plans while Nicholas stayed in the rear, safe. What would you do if the same opportunity was given to you? Would you be kind to the ones you blamed for all your problems?
I find it rlly sad cause someone said when they shot at the daughters it was hard to kill them cause they had been told to hide their jewels in their corsets
Blah blah the jews. As if Ukrainians, Russians, Baltics, Georgians (such as Stalin) and other individuals in the party of different ethnic background weren't involved in the Bolshevik party.
Frankly I never cared for the romanovs, monarchies are supposed to fall. I was just always horrified to learn they executed the children the same way they executed the parents.
I always wondered why they were killed. And why they had such horrific deaths.. like the movies and stories always made this family out to be. "Good" soo what did they do that was "so bad" that they 'deserved' this treatment??
What happened? They were told that they were to come down to this room for a photo. The photo was to be taken to reassure the people that they were healthy and secure. It was a big fat lie. Alexandra had the girls sew diamonds in the girls corsets, they weren't stupid and had a funny feeling that "something" was going to happen. They were told told to sit at a table. So then they had a message to give first before the picture. This soldier pulls out this card and starts reading off these insulting degrading charges. Nicolas jumps up shouting and this Russian shouts "fire". Bullets were bouncing off the bodies of the women due to the diamonds. That's why their faces were destroyed. The soldiers stripped the bodies and stacked them like cord wood on a trailer for disposal. So they tried burning them....ALEXI and Anastasia. It stank and took too long...they took the rest and dumped them in a mine shaft. Now Anastasia didn't want to die. YOU CAN'T SAY GOD ISN'T GOOD! GOD allowed her soul to find a body. Anna Anderson whatever her name was, committed suicide and wanted to die, there is where Anastasia's soul inhabited. Beyond belief? Nope it's true and Now you know!

@@Kenzalina_ Most completely answer right here, folks. People need to look further than the surface with such an easy explanation of "That's family for ya" and "King George was an *ssh*le". It was a very turbulent time.
@@kkittycatkat1990 Thank you, I appreciate that. It’s frustrating to see so much history be oversimplified. While what happened to them is tragic, no one could have saved them.
not tragic at all. these pests along with their cousins sent millions to their deaths while they sat comfortably in their palaces, all for their "honour" and imperial ambition.
They had it coming, at least the Czar did
Killed by the tribe
Jew tribe
I read somewhere that one of the soldiers who carried out the orders wrote in his journal that the daughters (including Anastasia) didn't die right away because they had secretly sewn jewels into their dresses in hopes of having money when they got "released". Those jems reflected some of the bullets so it took more rounds to kill them.😢
this is so poetic, so beautiful. because the moment bullets of righteousness were fired from the weapons of the disenfranchised, even their decadent luxuries acquired from the brutal oppression and exploitation of millions couldn't save them!
I’m pretty sure the late queen of England’s husband helped them identify the bodies as he was related to them?
I never knew they were mutilated!!! 😱
The Communists had be certain bodies could not be identified if were found.
@@paulhunter6742 oh my goodness
Read what happened to other Romanov family members it will horrify you even more. Firing squads to kill male cousins and uncles. Or Tsarina’s sister who was an abbess was dropped down a mine shaft with others and had grenades tossed in after- they died days later.
@@erinobrien8793 Omg! 😱
I think it’s still a grey area. There’s no proof she was killed or survived and lived a simple life. I hope it’s the latter though

Caitlin Doughty did a full length, in depth video about their deaths and the graves. It's excellent.
They thought they were being helped but mislead
thinking screams and begging started
Then shooting
Brutally murdered
Then mutilation of corpses
I'm positive they had money , gold and jewelry with them
The girls were virgins
So was the son
I'm almost positive it crossed one or more of the shooters maybe they raped the girls and the boy or they violated a corpse and the czarina
So one could say I had a czarina
The plea's must have been terrible to here
It is largely believed that Rasputin had had relations with the daughters it is largely believed that the one was anastasia are Olga but it is just a rumor one of those two said that he was incredibly weird around our as well

Christopher, my heartfelt THANK YOU for your very beautiful comment regarding the Russian Royal Family.
Let's remember, Britian had offered to send a ship and get them out of Russia. Russia would have left them leave. The Windsors said NO to the idea. The Romanov's and Windsors were cousins.

‘Bolsheviks’ had me taken aback for a sec 😅
That's what decades of pent up anger does to you. There's a reason why the whole country hated the royal family.
@@silverg2862nah mostly just the bitter and hate fueled jews.

Lenin didn't give out a specific order.

where they put on trial ? where they found guilty by a jury and judge ? where they allowed to appeal their sentence ?
so stop saying they were executed !

I miss her bangs
Agreed. Albeit she is cute, she looks better with bangs.

Why do you believe that one royal family is worth more than the millions of people who died under there leadership? this family is not actually dead (legitimately) Nicholas's sister made it out of the country and to Canada where she lived in Toronto until her death in 1960 at the age of 78....she had at least 2 children who died in 1984 and 1993 respectively....i think they may have had children as well.

Shameful of the people that executed this family. They trusted their captors and, to my knowledge, never did anything to hurt the Russian people. But it’s not like all the Russian people wanted them dead!
The russian people certainly wanted them dead… they were horrible
It is never anything to do with what the people want. Tyrants and governments don't care about citizens.
A very Sad story.
.....aaannnd, nothing has changed!
Lenin had a very hard time trying to control a pack of gangsters.
I probably wouldnt beat children to death because I was mad at the government

Great pity that King George V prevented his relatives from being rescued by the British. A rescue plan was in motion but George vetoed it on the grounds it might "make him unpopular".
