- How to use the Symbicort Turbuhaler inhaler. The Pulmicort and Oxis inhalers also use the Turbuhaler device. You would need to first twist the red bottom of the inhaler in one direction (clockwise) and then back in the opposite direction (counter clockwise) until it produces a click. Now the inhaler is ready to be used. You would empty your lungs of air, then breathe in forcefully and deeply from the inhaler, trying to hold your breath at the top for up to 10 seconds.
Symbicort contains budesonide (an inhaled corticosteroid) and formoterol (a bronchodilator) and is usually prescribed for asthma or COPD.

I think there was a mistake by Dr Stefan. When loading the turbuhaler, it has to be held upright, not horizontal like he demonstrated.

apparently symbicort doesn't have a particular taste, so it may be that you are actually inhaling it correctly
I just used it now for the first time, and I felt the exact same thing!! (That's why i searched for this video!)
It feels that I am doing it wrong or something, although i use inhalers for a long time and i know how to use them.
For me it tastes a little bit bitter. But only after a few minutes and if I haven't eaten anything before using it.

@@angelicaalcantar9519 yeah i had the same issue. it had a weird taste in my mouth after a few seconds . but it's advised to wash your mouth with some water afterwards and always make sure your inhaler is standing don't put it on it's side or throw it somewhere in your bag. also when using it don't lift it very high up like when you're drinking something. all these steps helped remove the taste for me.but there is no harm in it leaving some taste so don't worry too much about that. anyway good luck to you!!

It's mentally difficult when you've been on Ventolin plus flixotide for 20 years. The fear of not doing it properly or it not being enough and being able to breathe caused by severe PTSD is very real. When I can't breathe I go into a severe panic attack and I don't know I use a spacer usually and I like to feel something hitting my lungs and when I don't feel anything I kind of panic in case there's nothing coming out and during my panic attacks my BP goes over to 280 on occasions So in a way I wish I was still on my ventilator and flixatide. Having said that it was a well presented short video. However I am wondering whether you can take the final click the wrong way if you know what I mean left or right maybe it doesn't matter goodness gracious such is anxiety. Thank you

Hi there! A doctor told me the inhaler has to be held vertically when twisting for the click. Is that correct?

My previous inhaler I can feel and taste so I know I took it but this one it’s my first time I’ve attempted to use it about 5 times now cause it doesn’t feel like it’s working and usually after I use an inhaler I can feel immediate relief on my lungs and wheezing with this one I feel nothing so either I’m doing it wrong, this isn’t working, or it is and I’m just stupid lol

After I use it, I feel that my breath has become less and I feel more coughing. Is this normal from the medication or is there a problem?
Sometimes that happens to me, and I figure the medicine is breaking up the phlegm, which makes me cough. It lasts a few minutes and then I'm okay.
Not sure if I’m using it right, i weight my old one(counter to zero), and a brand new one, both weighs 46gram.
Shouldn’t we twist it upright so the powder will properly refill(fall down) in the space inside?
You supposed to breathe out through your nose, as if you are smoking a cigar. You have to try your best to ensure it goes into the lungs and not just in the mouth.
My instructions leaflet says to turn back and forth TWICE, not once. So basically 2 clicks. Why does my instructions say to turn in for 2 clicks instead of once like in the video??
I also was not sure if I was using symbacort correctly but my real question is, if I am using it correctly why does the counter say its finished but there seems to be a lot in the tube still? I have 3 that show zero doses left but they have a lot in them. They are incredibly expensive so I didn't want to throw them away until I know.

Yes because you always should hear "the click"
In turbuhaler you dont feel the powder unlike seretide diskus, you can feel the powder sticking in your tongue

Hi! Thank you so much for this, I was prescribed the inhaler but not shown how to use it.
I believe I did it right, I did the normal 2 puffs and then did a third later when needed but it looks like the gauge is still at 120?
the counter goes down in 20s normally doesn't show 119, 118 etc.

If the number of doses on the counter doesn't go down does that mean I'm taking it incorrectly?
It goes down in multiples of 20,so you should slowly start to see the small dial moving over time

Why is it called a Turbohaler in the UK and Turbuhaler in other markets? I am not sure why this video uses the spelling Turbuhaler if you are in the UK?

Depand on people. As for me, two times a day. I take it 8 am and 8pm. Different people diffrent prescription. Some people have to inhale 2 puff twice a day.

I was told to wash my mouth after use.
such a design flaw... i was given this from my GP because of my lazy approach of not using two inhalers. Now like everyone else who are beginners, you feel you're not get the hit like a standard pump would give you. The person who design this device obviously not asthmatic. This device is infuriating... may need to go back to the GP for an inhaler.
My doctor prescribed the turbuhaler for me to get me through the night. Two inhales and I sleep right through (except to pee, lol). When used as shown in the video, it works perfectly.
There is no taste at all right in your mouth right?...compare to ventolin you feel the gas in the mouth
Not sure I'm getting any of the medicine because I cant taste anything but I guess I will just have to trust the process.

Just bought the inhaler, went through the instructions, wasn’t sure if I was doing it right, went online to look for a tutorial, read the comments, not feeling great about this product. What a waste of time and money.
