Edit: When I do the math at 7:50 for the triple notch damage penalty, I should have used 0.7 as the multiplier instead of 0.3. Hopefully that didn’t trip anyone up 🙂 Edit 2: I misspoke about Long Range, Close Range, and High Ground coils. Those coils only increase impact damage, not elemental buildup or tear.
That's basically two shots fired normally. 210%. I Only use triple on hunters or double on sharpshots with the powershots valor surge to save resources
@@stacym4124 Yes, but please remember, that double/Triple Notch can benefit from Overdraw, which other weapon techniques can´t, making it a little better then the rawr number suggests.

Again, I've said it more than a few times on your channel, but you have the best Horizon content out there, hands down. I really don't care to watch channels where someone simply shows how great they are. I prefer to watch a great player explain how they became great! You've not only done this, but you've also made it easy to understand how you got there. Thanks!
Hi Brian. So sorry I didn't realize you donated once again! For some reason, these don't show up on the mobile RUclips Studio app, so I didn't see it until just now on desktop. Thank you so much for your generous support! I really appreciate it! 🙏
He made the game even more fun for me.. these days, i find myself ignoring the story completely and just focusing on killing the biggest bots i can find in the wild. Im a PC gamer btw, so im new to the game
I rarely comment on videos. But this one deserves a gold star. There is no BS in this video, no Yakety Yak commentary, no critiquing of developers or other streamers/ RUclipsrs and no garbage. This is a straight up facts and techniques video. It is well made with no annoying techno music distracting you no garbled difficult to decipher accents and no ads interrupting the video. This is how all tips and tricks videos should be made. Love it!!
A great trick I want to share that i've been using alot even early on in my 1st playthrough is slide silent striking. I found out that while you are sliding you don't seem to draw any more attention to yourself than if you crouch walk, this is great for both getting some distance before someone fully notices you or aggressively closing the distance for a stealth attack. Do note that since you technically need to sprint to activate a slide you may want to do this from a slight distance to avoid the sprint noise, especially if your not use to executing this technique.
Love this video for so many reasons. First is your teaching style: You are just a genius not only in finding all that stuff but even more in explaining it with few, we’ll structured words. Listening to your explanations makes me chill and want to know more at the same time :D Second are the insights: I love the sliding mechanic more than anything (already since zero dawn, but they made it soo much more powerful - love it). And I already was kind of confused that you didn’t mention the quick draw mechanic of sliding in earlier video. But now you did make a video about it and I have to realise that I am just like John Snow and know nothing. I had no clue whatsoever that sliding gives you invincibility frames as well and now you even tell me it’s more than for rolling. I am baffled. Same for the triple notch. They felt off compared to zero dawn and now I know why. You are great. Third is the community I know of no other content creator who is so eager to reply to his viewers in such a positive way and in return was able to build such a great community. Scrolling through the comments became one of my favourite hobbies and I really feel amidst kindred souls here. And forth is just the love for the game that you radiate in every of your videos. it mirrors my own attitude towards the game and I have been looking for someone like you all over the Internet. So glad I found you, please keep it up! Btw: Just ordered the strategy guide even though you probably listed all relevant knowledge already :P
Wow thank you Vervel! 😄 This is so kind and thoughtful of you to say all this 😊 I do spend quite a lot of time writing my video scripts to be as succinct as possible, so I’m glad you think my explanations are clear 🙂 Glad to hear you’ll be getting a copy of the strategy guide! There’s certainly more in there than what I’ve talked about here, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! Hey I’m not sure if you’re on Discord, but you might enjoy joining my server if you are. We have lots of passionate players over there! Just wanted to let you know you’re welcome any time. The link is in all my video descriptions. No pressure though 🙂
@@ArktixOfficial Thanks for the invitation, it’s highly appreciated! I never did anything in discord so far, but if I ever install it I will gladly join the crew :) Up to then I am just glad you put so much time in the videos and want to make sure you know that there are many people who see that and really enjoy your work! Cheers! Oh, and the guide arrived and I totally love it!
Your channel has been a godsend since I started my Ultra hard NG+ run, the amount of time and work put into these videos is both impressive and appreciated homie 🤙🏽🔥
Again, your information is incredible. I’m still very much a story mode type of player (I’m a 52 year old guy) and HZD and HFW are truly my first full blown rpgs that I’ve made any progress in without getting overwhelmed. I played Breath of the Wild and Fenyx Rising on Switch, but I hit a wall on BotW after a while and Fenyx was really tame. I’ve tried Witcher 3, but again I get overwhelmed, especially since I love the Netflix shows so much. With HZD, I truly felt like I was not only playing a game but also making use of skills and mechanics. HFW is so next level and being invested in the HZD story line, I love the continuation and deeper nuances. Your explanations are so nuanced that it truly wants me to become better player and even replay HZD at higher levels. Quick question: do you play the strike mini games? I found the tutorials complex. Maybe I just need to find a better explainer video.
Awesome Michael! Glad you're enjoying these games. Gaming is ageless and that's one of the things I love about it. I know of at a least a couple people in their 70s who follow my channel and play Horizon! As for machine strike, I have indeed played it. My best tip is to buy the Fireclaw piece from the Raintrace Hunting Grounds carver and pair it with a few low level pieces to use as bait. Then bait the opponent wit the low level pieces and finish them off with the Fireclaw!
Michael, join the club.. I'm a 76 yr old woman who never played a video game or even looked at a controller. Horizon ZD was my first ever so just figuring the buttons out was a challenge. I just finished HZD, twice now (for practice & harder in Game+) so now I can try Horizon FW.. but it looks extremely hard & challenging and only with Arktix videos loaded and waiting can I do it. He is so good with explaining and making it easier. I will use Story mode because I just like to enjoy the game easier to begin.
@@Sunnyacres55 Hey there, I'm a 67 yr old female just starting out playing and my granddaughter told me that I would enjoy HZD. Quick question for you, do you use a controller or just the PC? If you use a controller, what did you get? I'm looking for one since it's hard for me to play on the PC. Thanks.
Part of the reason most people think this is a small channel is because you've easily found your voice and solid backing track. Keep it up Arktix. Stick to your gunz buddy,
your content is incredible! I recently got my PS5 and dove right into Forbidden West since I loved Zero Dawn so much. I am quite silly and started my playthrough on ultra hard. needless to say it has been a struggle. your guides have helped so much! thank you
I only recently heard ultra hard disables aim assist. Do you use the gyro? I always disable aim assist, so it didn’t affect me much, but for all the non-gyro users, I’m curious how they survive without aim assist (or the gyro) on higher difficulties.
Just wanted to say I appreciate your videos, I’m on my 2nd NG+ playthrough and have been following your guides on weapon optimization as well as using your spreadsheet to locate weapon coils more efficiently. Thank you so much for putting that together and sharing it with everyone! Your videos have made a big difference helping me to adjust my play style after the Braced Shot nerf.
Hey thanks Chris! I’m glad to hear my content has been helpful to you 😄 That Braced Shot nerf was kind of a big deal right!? Glad you’ve been able to adjust you’re play style 👍
This is perfect. I am planning to start a RUclips gameplay channel and not take any damage whatsoever (meaning taking no hits) at hardest difficulty settings. I was questioning the Horizon series since it is almost impossible the way I played. So now I can practice all these and make it a lot easier to go through the games with no hits. Thank you so much for bringing these tips here.
Fantastic video yet again! Thanks for the deep dive into the mechanics of the game. I have started using the slide-draw technique with the ropecaster to get a quick tie-down. When I played this game on normal difficulty, my favorite weapon was the sharpshot bow. Now that I play on very hard, I use the shredder gauntlet or freeze/boltblaster combo based on what I learned from your other videos. I find myself using the shock shredders as my go-to because they can immobilize the machine and rip it apart with ease. It’s also very cheap resource-wise. Your circling technique helped me get much better at catching the shredders which maximizes my damage output. Your weapon coil video helped me find the best ones for each weapon type, again boosting my damage. By taking advantage of game mechanics and modifiers, you’ve helped me get the most out of every scenario. That is very important - especially on the higher difficulty setting. After fighting a monster with a shredder, the area looks like a scrapyard with all of the destroyed and ripped apart pieces strewn about. It’s pretty funny to see! I used to run low on volatile sludge all of the time because of my reliance on one weapon type. Now I rarely run low on anything and I sell off extra stuff for shards. Thanks again for your invaluable insights!
There’s loads of comments like this but I still felt compelled to say I only just found your channel and it’s completely cracked the game for me. I thought I wouldn’t pick it up again after struggling through the first playthrough on normal. but with your vids I’m now taking down apex scorchers and slaughterspines on ultra hard and loving every fight! Thanks for all the hard work putting the guides together they’ve completely reignited my love for this game!
this vid do not stop me from experimenting because I only learn the feeling of using these techniques but it surely and most importantly reduce the frustration of learning the game, especially for HZD veteran like myself thinking I have the high ground but turns out just as new as others.
Geez, I have seen all ur recent videos and played both horizon games, and have around 100+ hours in forbidden west yet I still learn so much, the tricks are informative and very useful
I love tripping and physically manipulating machines. I had no idea drill spikes were so good for that. You have just earned yourself a subscriber. Can't wait to binge your machine hunting guides
There is a lot of useful information in this video and on your channel! I spent 300+ hours in the game, and I realized something myself, acted intuitively in some ways, but I still learned a lot of new things! Thank you very much!🤝
Horizon is my favourite game of all time, at the very top of the list, period. My head just exploded watching this video, and after a new one pops up from the stump I'm subscribing and binge-watching your entire library on it! I've finished the game four times already and I just keep playing it on loop, I never used a lot of the weapon types I didn't quite understood how to and honestly the amount of content I can see by starting using all the tricks you seem to have uncovered almost feels like a small DLC to me! Thank you so much for sharing!!! =)
Awesome! Glad you could pick up some tips here 😄 Always great to help out another Horizon die-hard like myself 😁 Hope you're finding my other content helpful!
wow. You should give some other games a go! Cuz, and I mean no shade I love Horizon too, but if you are calling it your *favorite*....you haven't played enough games. There are wayyyy better ones out there than horizon. If it's the open world that you really love, Witcher 3 comes to mind. W3 is much much better than this game in terms of core combat and story/voice acting. HZD had horrible voice acting, particularly in side quests. HFW does seem much improved though, can give it that.
useful stuff. i used to always get the books with big games - i still have some from games long past.. but they seem to have either disappeared or simply not get put out like in days, not so long, past. I think you're second HFW guide guru to have gotten book just recently and used it in videos i've seen in past week. great video as ever. :)
Hey thanks Colin! Glad to hear you found this useful 😄 Yeah game guides and other physical content isn’t quite what it used to be, but Future Press always does a good job with their guides from what I’ve seen!
Awesome video as usual Artix. I hope you don't mind if I share a tip of my own: Due to the awesomeness of the quick draw mechanic while sliding, you don't need to coil your ropecaster with any draw speed coils. Simply coil it with 3 reload speed coils for maximum efficacy with regular rope-casts (which cost 1 volatile sludge per 6 casts) and penetrating rope (which only costs stamina.
Hey good point Emeka! Yeah I've transitioned to reload speed coils instead of draw speed since doing my "how to coil every weapon video". I've realized since then that the draw speed coils don't help while you have the Quick Draw.
I discovered the fast notching trick on my own purely by chance, and the shredder's wide area of effect seemed obvious to me, but everything else absolutely blew me away. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I feel like a pleb now, lol.
"Extra whiskers on the reticle *cute kitten pops up* " made me laugh! FANTASTIC info as always my friend, thanks for making these for us. Perfect youtube videos, they're concise, very clear, and most importantly very informative. Plus you've got the voice! Thanks again Arktix
Glad you noticed that 😄 That’s one of my Discord community member’s new kitten! Glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful too 🙂 Thanks for your kind comments 😊
2:26 Thank you so much for this advice i never actually knew how to avoid the slitherfang's shock attacks that you can't dodge without this method so thank you!!!!
Arktix you have become a HFW beast at this game 💯 excellent video as always and yeah defo criminally slept on is a understatement 👍😁 keep up the excellent work buddy fire video 🔥💯👍🇬🇧😁
My friend your channel is THE only channel I have known to receive so many positive comments, I mean I knew from day 1 how much HFW fans would absolutely love your work and we have both been proved right tenfold, I just knew how successful a channel with no negative comments plus your hard work and you are No1 go-to guy for HFW so GOW Ragnarok here we come, that game iam seriously looking forward to seeing your work, well done Arktix I sent at least 500 friends plus a link to your channel and it is growing at a speed I never thought would be so quick even though I knew you would get there but it's a privelage to support you buddy, congrats on the beast of HFW 👍💯🔥🎉💪🇬🇧😁
Great video, for knocking down enemies I used to stack the coils on my hunter bow before going into ultra hard but now I think imma use the drill spike, I keep sleeping on weapons with lower rarities 🤦🏾♂️
The stuff about the knockdowns was helpful, thanks. It confirmed what I’d been suspecting. One thing I didn’t think you mentioned: I could be wrong, but I actually think it matters which leg you target. I think each individual leg has its own knockdown meter. Could be wrong, though.
@@ArktixOfficial I could be wrong. I feel I just get better results if I target the same limb. I think sometimes you can even make some enemies limp if you focus on the same limb enough.
Thank you so much for all the videos you make, I've learned so much from the strategies and tips you put out. That was very helpful to learn that weapons draw faster while sliding or falling from a significant height. What was very interesting to know was that knockdowns are triggered mostly from hitting machines on their legs, because logically, that's how you destabilize something in real life, so I like that Guerilla incorporated that in their combat mechanics.
Thanks! I’m glad you found this helpful and interesting 😄 I also think it’s cool how the knockdowns work with hitting machines in the legs. Cool to have a realistic detail like that!
I still believe in inflicting the Elemental state BEFORE roping the machine down, as the stagger animation from triggering an Elemental state gives you just enough time to fully rope down even large machines before they have a chance to do anything. This ensures that the Rope state doesn't degrade at all and lets you do full damage with your Elemental arrows.
Yeah you can totally do it that way too! I promise if you hit and armor plate though you’ll degrade the tiedown very little. So little in fact that the brittle state will still run out way before tiedown does.
Excellent tips & tricks! After dealing as much elemental damage as I can with my various sharpshooter bows, the spike throwers are my secondary and favorite weapons of choice when battling the massive machines! A majority of the time, I operate as a stealth fighter, knocking off as many parts on machines from a safe distance before I get too close; however, after watching this video, I feel inspired to be a little more creative and/or experimental with the combat mechanics I employ! Thanks for sharing! All the best on future endeavors!
Thank you! Glad you found this helpful 😄 Sounds like you’ve got a good handle on your playstyle. I hope these tips can help you enjoy trying some new tactics.
Great video. One hidden mechanic which has carried over from HZD is that a machine's eyes are a weak spot. Not sure of the damage boost from targeting one of these, but I can comment on the satisfaction boost (especially against Clamberjaws) of a few well-placed shots.
Thanks! And yes good tip! The eyes are typically a 2x multiplier. There are exceptions though. For example, the Burrower eye is 4x. I definitely agree with the satisfaction boost! 😄
Here I am, August 8th, and having reached the end game of New Game Plus on Ultra Hard difficulty, never having heard of slide dodge before. This would've been so useful throughout both my Normal and Ultra Hard playthroughs...
Well done video with very useful tips presented in an easy to grasp way. A remark regarding QuickDraw: On PC 1.1.47 Quickdraw does not work on e.g. Sharpshot Bows, Spikethrowers, and Boltblasters. Aloy will abort the slide and go into duck/crouch position as soon as L2/LT/RMB is pressed.
Hi, it's me! I finished Horizon ZD..twice ha Love it as my very first video game. Just loaded Horizon FW yesterday so looking forward to your videos to help me again. Most of this is above me right now but I liked the slide/dodge and quick draw info to start. Gonna watch a lot of your videos. Since the controller was new to me, etc., I didn't realize I had to "push" down on L to get a sprint in HZD, so it was way into the level 30's before I discovered it and figured out how to slide. ha Next time, I'll email my questions sooner...it would have saved me a lot of frustration. This game looks pretty hard but I just finished the intro (& your Part 1) so am so hyped to get playing! Thank you for all your info, couldn't play without it.
Hi! Glad to hear from you! And congrats on finishing HZD! Yeah this video was kind of some advanced tips, but I have lots of others you can look through to get started! Quick tip right now: In Forbidden West, there’s a setting to turn auto sprint on so you don’t have to push the stick down!
Well, thank God you love experimenting.. I'm a much better player thanks to you.. I would've never upped the difficulty of the game to UH without these.. Thanks so much for all your hard work!
I'm to feeble minded to raise the difficulty above hard. For me its enough of a trial to deal with some of the annoying enemies like dread wings. I'm also limited in how I can learn and refine my skill and general competence. I have virtually 0 tactical ingenuity or strategic thinking. "enemy doing this, I react like this" is my brain's limit 90% of the time. Rather funny since I really like using stealth as best I can. :/
Like others have said, you're content for Horizon is THE BEST! Love this game and thank you for sharing your techniques to make the game wayyy more fun.
currently on NG+ UH and just found out about your channel, I want to watch everything!! ty for such detailed and helpful videos, this is the kind of Horizon content I've always wanted to find
Man, I was watching this video expecting you to have millions of subs. These videos are so incredibly well put together. Keep it up, I hope you explode.
This guide was INCREDIBLY useful! Thank you sooo much for this! I don't usually sub to tutorial channels because they often spam out content and fill up my entire subscription box! But you don't seem to do that and your content seems very interesting!
Hey thanks Ollie! I'm glad you found this helpful 😄 And thanks a lot for your sub! I promise you well never get spam content from me! Although I may start doing walkthrough videos again at some point. Hopefully those showing up in your sub box don't bother you too much. Either way, I appreciate your comment and support 👍
@@ArktixOfficial I'm sure they won't! Plus you don't make content for the sake of making content, you make content to help us out! And you got a great voice to listen to for longer walkthroughs ;)
Thank you, as always, for these! I'm more interested in the story, so moving through combat quickly is my goal. These videos really help me enjoy the game so much more!
I noticed the reduction in damage with double/triple shot, but it's nice to have the official numbers. I definitely use it a lot less now, but still great for opening a fight!
Well expained, as always c: I already got to know these through the discord, but I am glad you summed them up in this video. I forgot a bunch, thank you for reminding me! I love this community and your videos. Looking forward to the future!

@@ArktixOfficial Thanks! I don't mind if you call me Phosphoras over here as well. Because of the internet I am used to having many names. Phosphoras is just one of them and for the sake of community recognition it is okay if you call me Phosphoras from here on out.
Really great video; thanks for posting. Until recently, I hadn't considered or been aware of the intricacies of the combat system. I've beaten the game and am currently well into the DLC but now look forward to applying and mastering some of these things on a replay.
Thank youuu loved Horizon Zero Dawn and I get to play Forbidden West for Christmas. Awesome tips but all the technical stuff went over my head since I havent played in a while, Definitely going to look at your tutorials
Recently discovered this channel and this knowledge is gold. Please keep up the good work. A must to squeeze all sorts of enjoyment from a new game plus ultra run
I appreciate the tips for triggering knockdowns. If not for you, I wouldn't use it in my gameplay. This is both a good on-ramp for people who are just getting around to playing the game and a good review for the seasoned journeymen/women who have been following you for some time. Good work!
Thanks Furious! I’m glad to hear you think this is helpful to both new and experienced players 😄 And I’m glad you were able to learn something about knockdown!
@@ArktixOfficial I tend to ask about the ones that give me the most trouble. (Most of them I can just freeze and boltblast to hell if they look at me crosseyed). But I'd like to hear your take on Dreadwings first, then Frostclaws, then Stormbirds. And then all others however you see fit. Either way, I'm here for all of them.
Awesome video - thank you. The damage reduction on multiple nocked arrows makes sense... the bow has a certain amount of power the more weight you add (arrows) then this reduces the power of the bow. This is real world experience (I am a target archer) and nice to see it being translated into a game.
Thanks! And yeah I like that realistic touch on the bow mechanics as well. Not to mention I think triple notch would just be OP if it was a straight 3x damage lol
Been thinking of getting into Ultra Hard, this upload was perfectly timed! I would've gotten into UH a long time ago but I lost my save file lol so had to re-do quite a few things 😅
The guide is great, Future Press has done a really good job with it. Btw mine looks a lot like yours, I have post it notes sticking out all over the place. Great vids keep it up!
Just finished my 2nd run of HZD 5 years after the first. Did Ultra Hard. Didn't find it too bad. I like challenging games and always play on Max settings. I was sad that when I played HFW it only had very hard. Now I started a new run of FW on UH and must say the level of difficulty difference it is on HZD is immense. Going to be fun. Nice tips!
HZD difficulty was a joke IMO. it was wayyyy too easy. once I got sticky blast sling I just exclusively used those basically. since it had enough DMG to kill anything pretty fast, and there was no point in getting extra loot. I only just started playing HFW, but so far I'm liking the challenge WAYYY better. it's like actually a challenge this time lol
I'm not sure how google knew I was looking for Forbidden West info before I even did a search for it but this was a very interesting and informative video! Thanks. Looking forward to playing this when it comes out on pc in a few weeks.
Thank you so much for all the effort you put into making these! I would love to see an advanced movement guide, I fell like with the pullcaster and glider there is a lot more movement potential in combat but I haven‘t quite grasped it yet
You’re very welcome! I hope you’ve found my tips helpful 😄 And thanks for the suggestion on a movement video! I think that’s a good idea. I’ll add it to my list!
Another 1k subs see told you that your one of a kind RUclipsr who does exactly what the subs need, I was gonna right this in your latest video but thought I would tell you here, well done Arktix 😁👍💯🇬🇧😎
Now that the PC version is out, and some of us never play with console controls, could you put annotations on the screen for what PC keys to use? Love your video.
Got my first legendary weapon and I'm like 10th video in at least.. so insightful. And was actually watching your vids when I first started playing. Was probably watching your vids back in the days of Zero Dawn too haha.
I really didn't want to play this game. I had enough on my plate. But your videos have convinced me. I hope you get commission. God knows you've earned it. Also, what a world we've created for ourselves. I remember when "Prima Strategy Guide" was basically short hand for "Compiled Useless Information Incoming". Now it's giving us flat-ass secrets?!
Awesome video, thanks for sharing these! HFW definitely isn't very clear about its mechanics, but it is fun to experiment. For example, the game will let you stack coils, but each effect seems to have an unseen limit. I'm still trying to figure all that out. I think you talked about this in one of your other videos.
This is true. I noticed the same thing myself. It would be nice to know what that limit is, so we can coil weapons better. I wonder if Artix has looked into this.
No problem Michael! Gland you liked this 😄 Where are you running into a maximum stat with coils? I can’t say I’ve seen that. I’d be curious to know where you’re seeing that so I can test it.
@@ArktixOfficial on the Death-Seeker hunter bow for example: I try putting enough Shock coils on it to get the status after one shot, but no matter how many I put on there doesn't seem to be any guarantees. And also, the Draw Speed coil seems to cap at 25% because two rare Draw Speed coils seem no better than one. I didn't use a stopwatch, but I did count it out to myself. I haven't tried using common or uncommon coils in conjunction with rares, so I'm not sure if I can get my numbers higher that way.
I just got the same book off Amazon, not cheap, but like for the first game it contains over 600 pages of useful knowledge and really go in depth on the mechanics & strategies :)
Man I am nearly done with this game and since I found your channel I realized I don't know even half of how to play this game. Looks like I need to do some more Horizon Classes and start a NG+.
I only recently found your channel, but I find that I was doing the quick draw and slide dodge mechanics without really thinking about why I did them that why.
I just found out that you can "lock" quick swap weapon. Just press square while selecting the weapon/ammo type, and quick swap will default to it. So you can never mess up the dmg dealing part of the fight 🙂
@@ArktixOfficial Question: I beat the game on Ultra Hard on NG+ but still can't change the difficulty despite the game saying you can change it after you beat the game; do you know how to change it? Also your strat of freezing a machine then unloading on it with the bolt blaster is the best strat for me; after tying them down with a rope caster first of course. Works every time.
Glad you like the freeze+boltblaster strat! 😄 And unfortunately, changing difficultly from UH is currently bugged. You are indeed supposed to be able to change it after finishing the main story, but people have not been able to. For now, the only way to change it is to start another NG+. Hopefully they fix it soon. They’ve been doing patches on Thursdays and we haven’t gotten on for a while, so maybe this Thursday if we’re lucky.
No problem! And good question. Roping a machine down is definitely easier and lasts longer than a knockdown. I guess it's just good to know you have the option for knockdowns. Also, as I showed in my Slaughterspine hunting guide, you can use a knockdown to easily tie down a machine while their stunned.
Edit: When I do the math at 7:50 for the triple notch damage penalty, I should have used 0.7 as the multiplier instead of 0.3. Hopefully that didn’t trip anyone up 🙂
Edit 2: I misspoke about Long Range, Close Range, and High Ground coils. Those coils only increase impact damage, not elemental buildup or tear.
That's basically two shots fired normally. 210%. I Only use triple on hunters or double on sharpshots with the powershots valor surge to save resources
Yeah it's pretty crazy when you think about it that way!
@@stacym4124 Yes, but please remember, that double/Triple Notch can benefit from Overdraw, which other weapon techniques can´t, making it a little better then the rawr number suggests.

Do note that since you technically need to sprint to activate a slide you may want to do this from a slight distance to avoid the sprint noise, especially if your not use to executing this technique.
Ayyy thank u that seems pretty good imma have to try
Love this video for so many reasons.
First is your teaching style: You are just a genius not only in finding all that stuff but even more in explaining it with few, we’ll structured words. Listening to your explanations makes me chill and want to know more at the same time :D
Second are the insights: I love the sliding mechanic more than anything (already since zero dawn, but they made it soo much more powerful - love it).

Oh, and the guide arrived and I totally love it!
Your channel has been a godsend since I started my Ultra hard NG+ run, the amount of time and work put into these videos is both impressive and appreciated homie 🤙🏽🔥
Hey thanks! I’m glad you’ve found my content helpful 😄
I think this is one of the best game videos on combat mechanics I have ever seen. Thank you for the clear explanations.
Wow thanks Sharon! That's very kind =) Glad you found it helpful!
If you haven't already played God of War you should definitely check that out. I only have 2 platinum trophies. God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn
God of War is great too!
Stick to your gunz buddy,
Thanks Yogi! I appreciated it =D
your content is incredible! I recently got my PS5 and dove right into Forbidden West since I loved Zero Dawn so much. I am quite silly and started my playthrough on ultra hard. needless to say it has been a struggle. your guides have helped so much! thank you
Hey thanks Mitch! And that’s great to hear my videos have been helping you 😄 That’s always my goal!
On the note about QuickDraw, you also get an insane boost while on a machine! I use it for ropes cause I can charge a rope extremely fast
Also…..

Oh yes! Good point Plusle 👍 Thanks!
LOL yeah cute kitty pops up and then vanishes, almost like it wasn't even really there *Stalker stealth sound engages*
Wow that will be quite the challenge! Glad you found this video helpful 😄 Best of luck with your channel!
Hey thanks Jeff! I'm really glad to hear you've been finding my content helpful! I'm happy to hear that =D
Hey that's awesome to hear! So glad you found my content helpful and can enjoy the game more because of it 😄 I hope you're still enjoying it!
this vid do not stop me from experimenting because I only learn the feeling of using these techniques but it surely and most importantly reduce the frustration of learning the game, especially for HZD veteran like myself thinking I have the high ground but turns out just as new as others.
Geez, I have seen all ur recent videos and played both horizon games, and have around 100+ hours in forbidden west yet I still learn so much, the tricks are informative and very useful
Thanks Wizzy! I’m glad even an experienced player like yourself was able to learn something from this! 😄
I love tripping and physically manipulating machines. I had no idea drill spikes were so good for that. You have just earned yourself a subscriber. Can't wait to binge your machine hunting guides
Awesome! Yeah I like doing that as well 😄 Glad your enjoying my content! And thanks for your sub!
There is a lot of useful information in this video and on your channel! I spent 300+ hours in the game, and I realized something myself, acted intuitively in some ways, but I still learned a lot of new things! Thank you very much!🤝
Hey thanks! Glad you're finding my tips helpful 😁
The graphic, animation, colors and music are masterpiece!
Hey thanks! Glad you liked all those elements of the video!
You explanations are always so detailed, complete and comprehensive... Cheers for the channel success!
Hey thanks Miguel! I’m glad you find my videos to be good quality 😊
Awesome video as usual Artix. I hope you don't mind if I share a tip of my own:
Due to the awesomeness of the quick draw mechanic while sliding, you don't need to coil your ropecaster with any draw speed coils.
Hey thanks! Glad you were able to pick up some tips 😄

Arktix you have become a HFW beast at this game 💯 excellent video as always and yeah defo criminally slept on is a understatement 👍😁 keep up the excellent work buddy fire video 🔥💯👍🇬🇧😁
Thanks Football Asylum 😄 Your very generous support is appreciated as always 👍🤜🤛😁
You are doing a grand service to Horizon gamers everywhere. Good job Arktix
Haha thanks Matthew! 😄
Your videos increased my game skill by a wide margin. Thanks!
That’s great to hear! 😄 Thanks!
Great video, for knocking down enemies I used to stack the coils on my hunter bow before going into ultra hard but now I think imma use the drill spike, I keep sleeping on weapons with lower rarities 🤦🏾♂️
Thanks! And yeah definitely give drill spikes a try. I think you’ll be surprised how well they work!
The stuff about the knockdowns was helpful, thanks. It confirmed what I’d been suspecting.
One thing I didn’t think you mentioned: I could be wrong, but I actually think it matters which leg you target. I think each individual leg has its own knockdown meter. Could be wrong, though.
Oh interesting point. I don't think that matters, but I can't say I've tested it thoroughly. I'll have to test it!
@@ArktixOfficial I could be wrong. I feel I just get better results if I target the same limb. I think sometimes you can even make some enemies limp if you focus on the same limb enough.
Or you could be right! I’ll have to do some more testing. Thanks for bringing this up!
The quick overdraw while sliding and ability to continue notching without holding L1 was new to me. Thanks!
Glad to hear you learned a few things from this! I hope they help!
Thank you Arktix for featuring Eevee. Your the best!
Of course! 😄 Thanks for letting me feature her! Notice I put her with a Thunderjaw clip since she likes your Thunderjaw 😊
Once again, awesome stuff. Like the drill spike thing and the hidden knockdown mechanics are literal game changers
Thanks! Glad you found some useful tips here!
Ah sorry I didn’t have this video out earlier! Hopefully that tip can help you on a future playthrough!
Thanks! And yeah I think maybe I mentioned it a little too quickly, but Quick Draw doesn’t work with those weapons.
I left a light on this video because it is the best detailed video that I’ve seen out. Keep up the great work.
Hey thanks! Glad you like it 😄 I appreciate your comment!
Well, thank God you love experimenting.. I'm a much better player thanks to you.. I would've never upped the difficulty of the game to UH without these.. Thanks so much for all your hard work!
Hey thanks Prachi! I’m glad to hear my videos helped give you the confidence to play UH! 😄👍💪
Thank you! 😄 Glad you find my content helpful!
currently on NG+ UH and just found out about your channel, I want to watch everything!! ty for such detailed and helpful videos, this is the kind of Horizon content I've always wanted to find

Holy shit, I bought the PC version when it came out yesterday and now I have watched an hour of these videos before jumping in. This is insane. 😬
Haha glad you’re enjoying them! You’ll be well prepared for your through! New vid dropping later today…

Ok sounds good! Thanks 🙂
Really great video; thanks for posting. Until recently, I hadn't considered or been aware of the intricacies of the combat system. I've beaten the game and am currently well into the DLC but now look forward to applying and mastering some of these things on a replay.

@@ArktixOfficial hey, man! What's the next machine on the menu for the guides?
I was thinking Dreadwings. But I want to do Stormbirds, Frostclaws, Thunderjaws, Tiderippers, Behemoths, etc too. Do you have a preference?
@@ArktixOfficial I tend to ask about the ones that give me the most trouble. (Most of them I can just freeze and boltblast to hell if they look at me crosseyed). But I'd like to hear your take on Dreadwings first, then Frostclaws, then Stormbirds. And then all others however you see fit. Either way, I'm here for all of them.
Alrighty sounds good! Dreadwings were next on my list anyway!
Glad I found this, I'm 98% downloaded (Been downloading since it came out!) And ready to hop on the PC version. Hopfully nothing much has changed.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 YOU ARE AWESOME. I was confused by complexity of combat mechanism of HFW but you make it easy to understand and enjoyable. Thank you. 💚
Hey thanks! 😄 Glad you found this helpful! Hope you’re enjoying Forbidden West!
These guides are the Horizon master classes. Many thanks!
Thank you! Glad you're liking them. Hope you find them helpful!

Amazing guides man! Extremely relevant and helpful!
Hey thank you! I’m glad you found this helpful 😄
Your videos have improved my HFW gameplay and enjoyment so much. Thank you.

Now that the PC version is out, and some of us never play with console controls, could you put annotations on the screen for what PC keys to use? Love your video.
Unfortunately, I can’t go back and change existing videos. RUclips doesn’t make this possible.
Got my first legendary weapon and I'm like 10th video in at least.. so insightful. And was actually watching your vids when I first started playing. Was probably watching your vids back in the days of Zero Dawn too haha.

Interesting you’re seeing this too Emeka. Where are you seeing it so I can check?
Yeah it's pretty good! Some information is inaccurate though. For example, the table of coils is way off. But I have a spreadsheet for that =D
Good stuff. Been playing the Horizon series for a decent while and a few of these tricks I had already been doing but a few are new 😉
Great! Glad you were able to pick up some tips!
Man I am nearly done with this game and since I found your channel I realized I don't know even half of how to play this game. Looks like I need to do some more Horizon Classes and start a NG+.
Awesome! Glad you're finding my content helpful 😄 Definitely do a NG+!
I had experienced the tie down + elemental combo but couldn't figure out why it sometimes work! Thanks!
Ah nice! Glad I was able to clear that up for you!
You have earned a like and a subscription from me! I am close to finishing the game but good to know all these tips!
Hey thanks! 😄 Hope you found these tips helpful. I appreciate your like and sub! 🙏🙂
thanks most of those i didnt even lnow about this will make farming parts for upgrades much easier
Awesome! Glad to hear you were able to pick up some tips from this!
I only recently found your channel, but I find that I was doing the quick draw and slide dodge mechanics without really thinking about why I did them that why.
As always your guides are the best, thanks to your guides I've been having so much fun in ultra hard
Awesome! Thanks, and I'm glad you found this helpful!
@Arktix, I think your channel is on its way to 100K followers.
Great analysis 👍
Thank you! Glad you found this helpful. I appreciate your support! 🙏🏼😁
I just found out that you can "lock" quick swap weapon. Just press square while selecting the weapon/ammo type, and quick swap will default to it. So you can never mess up the dmg dealing part of the fight 🙂
Yes! It would be nice if they explained that at the start of the game. It’s a nice little tip.
Thanks! I learned a lot from your videos and recommend them to my friends.
Awesome! You're very welcome. And thanks a lot for sharing my videos!
@@ArktixOfficial Ah. Thank you good sir! I look forward to your next awesome video! ^_^ Oh also why knock down when you can just use ropecasters?
No problem! And good question. Roping a machine down is definitely easier and lasts longer than a knockdown. I guess it's just good to know you have the option for knockdowns. Also, as I showed in my Slaughterspine hunting guide, you can use a knockdown to easily tie down a machine while their stunned.
I didn't know alot of these, thank you so much for your great well said content!
Thank you! Glad you found this helpful 😄
i had no idea slide was better than dodge in this game! thank you! i was so used to dodging in HZD
just found this channel last night but it's OP man keep up the good work
Thanks Tommy! Glad you’re liking my content 😄
Instant sub. Really great video, keep it up
Thank you! Glad you liked it 😄 And thanks for your sub!
Crazy how I always did slide dodges to traverse into bushes but not never thought of doing it in combat
