Slow motion video footage from Drag Racing event (Nitro Nationals 2008, Alastaro Circuit, Finland).
Here's ten minute collection of various top fuel dragster action bits.. from line up to burn outs and then some drags... well not everyone made it to the finish line. :)
Note: one of the top fuel drivers in the video is Janne Ahonen, "world's fastest ski jumper" from Finland.

Ever been to the track to watch these things? I Guarantee you would be shocked and amazed at the sound and speed of these machines. Words cannot describe.....Really......Get to the track!
The best top fuel video I have seen. Specially the tire shake seen in slow motion was very interresting to see. Even the music was done to suit hte video very well. Well done!
One of the very best vids on RUclips.... excellent editing.... even better than excellent... The cutaways, the short shots....fast to slows... all show 110% effort.. 7:40 launch shock could be the best ever filmed... . SUPER IMPRESSIVE!!

You did a dang good job on this. And yes, you have to be there to understand what its like. They measure as I think a 5 on the richter scale thus qualifying them as a mini earthquake, you can literally FEEL the power.

@PowerStrokeDeasel Its usually methanol/alcohol. To stop the blower flaps from freezing. Because it sucks in so much air - theres a drop in pressure and ice forms around it.
Its pretty big in Europe too. We still run the full 1/4, and our times are getting ever closer to american 1/4 mile ETs, as our tracks slowly improve :)

I'll try to use words, they rattle your eyeballs!! And since they are rattling and you can't see anything, you FEEL them going down the track, because it rattles everything else. By the time the race is done, you are trying to figure out what happened. When the 9.90 cars come out (which is fast, respectable time) you feel like you are waiting an eternity for them to finish!! You really do have to go to the track and see these things. It is unlike anything else.
Very good and I didn't need to mute the video as on soo many other peoples.
lol this was even better than the real thing, I was there at the circuit and saw a few top fuel runs but this was just cooler.. And man, those dragsters make some noise 0_o

Nice if you like it. :) Mainly this was testing that little Casio gadget but I wanted to make this edited piece with some music and so on.
There's more to come, this was just top fuels (of course I understand that many like to see just these monsters in action).

Well I edited it couple of hours.. quite a long time went actually to sort out all the videofiles and examine what was in them.. :)
I edited the clip with Media Studio Pro (quite an old and not so good software, but that's the one I know how to use), computer was my old laptop so editing was not so quick.. but turned ok eventually.

Thank you all for your comments, you are being just too kind! I'm no video professional of any kind at all and this video was made for testing the Casio EX-F1, which is also quite far for being a pro level videocam. ;) But it's so nice to see that you've liked the result!

Yes I use MSP, learned it a few years ago so I have stuck with it for now.. :) Kinda old software, newest version 8 is few years old. Not quite a Premiere but definitely better than Movie Maker by a wide margin.. ;)

On the methanol cars they squirt de-icer on the butterflies, as they run so cold that condensation freeze and stick the throttle. You don't get that problem with nitro.
don't squirt anything after the burn out. before it is nitro methane to start the engine. after shut down, at the end of the track, fuel pumps are shut off so that any fuel in the system is burned in the engine. fuel system is empty upon start. they do it that way 'cause nitro methane is HIGHLY flammable. (at least that's how i understand the process)
Thanks! Well maybe not the best haha.. ;) This was actually less than 100Mb so no prob. When encoding I used a bitrate where the final wmv filesize was just under that 100 megs.

I´m a huge dragracing fan, and also a skijumping fan likewise. Well I knew that Janne Ahonen were racing, but not that he races TF.And furthermore I´ve just found out that he´d retiered from skijumping. A great loss for skijumping, but maximum gain for the dragrace world

No I havn't seen a live drag race. Yes, I'm sure its impressive. I have been to a stock car racing event and that was loud and I suppose dragsters are much louder. Yeah, someday. No promises.
dude , top fuel do 1/4 miles from mid 4 to low 5s , and dragsters go so fast that you can miss it in a blink of an eye
