Hang in there❕l had a front left steer tire blow completely off my international, with a Detroit Diesel in it! It was a hot and sticky Friday, 4:30, p.m. about an hour from home. It was 80+°. I saw the flash of light, the station wagon going by loaded down with kids and camping gear, the back window powering up. Collecting my thoughts after, l realized that something was thrown out by one of the kids, they was a ducking just when BANG! And l mean BANG! I grabbed the s - wheel and hit the slow down peddle. I never saw the wagon again! I looked in the left rear mirror, there was a dust out, crap flying in the air, cars hitting both shoulders adding to the crap flying about, l was from an instant left turn to both hands on the wheel half standing to get enough leverage to pull my truck to the right shoulder. Stopped now, l got out with shaking leg syndrome, there was a circular mark on my half of the windshield where the ring from the wheel had slammed into, ( prayers here ) the front left fender was blowen off, bits of fiberglass everywhere, the tire had disappeared and really just disintegrated, the wheel was beat, from thumping, scraping and gouging up the hiway. It was like the rim was hammer formed around the big old 5 star hub. The hiway was strewn with gravel, grass, fiberglass and all manner of materials! There was a deep gouge from where the tire blew off to where l pulled off the road. I was 3/4 to 1 mile from the weigh station, as l started to walk, a gentleman pulled over and gave me a lift to the scale. Can you believe that l had to beg to use the phone to call for help! 😡🤏 the Gentleman said " that was the save of a lifetime " l was somewhat speechless.😧 when l got back to the yard and backed in, l surveyed the damage again, CRAP wasn't the right tire cut to the cords, a chunk the size of a fist 👊 cut right out of it, heck l was only driving 70 m.p.h. felt very lucky to be home. 👌👍✌🏻🌤🇨🇦👨🦽😎🙋♂️.
