A lot of people underestimate how important Erwin was to Levi. Think of it in comparison to Mikasa and Eren. Levi losing Erwin would be on the same level of Mikasa losing Eren. (That's all I can say without spoiling stuff)
nop i know what u mean but Mikasa-Eren is more powerful than levi-Erwin but yep is more difficult for levi to lost erwin what one might think but need to read manga for understand that
He called the situation not the fight a draw. Think about it Zeke's side had four warriors and a bunch of expendable titans while Levi's side had 100 soldiers. Zeke lost Bertholt, but Levi lost everyone execpt himself, Hange, Mikasa, Eren, Armin, Connie, Sasha, Jean, and Floch. Both sides ended up too exhausted to fight any more. Zeke traded 1 warrior's life for 89 soldiers. This is a game to Zeke, neither side could risk making another move. Thus its a draw. That suicide charge was very expensive for not killing Zeke.
That roof scene is one of the best emotional and moral dilemmas I have seen in drama regardless of the medium, and I am 48 years old. Damn! This is awsome!!! That final plea by Eren about seeing the sea is just wao.
Erwin was truly a sad person. Levi realized this. Its why he gave it to Armin because He knew that Erwin knew he gave up on his dream so there's no point if Erwin back to being alive. Erwin actually wanted to die.
I really felt bad for Bertholdt though. Everyone's so hung up over Erwin and Armin that they forget we lost another great character. RIP Bert... You'll always be the best colossal titan.
Remeber Erwin talking about the corp members that died; He saw it if they were dying for his dream and as Levi said give up your dream and lead them the hell, he felt relief from that pressure. He couldn't live anymore with that burden
I haven't seen anyone talking about this but I think erwin decided not to become the titan because he overheard how Armin wanted to explore outside the walls so when he raised his hand & asked about more humans outside the walls it was in a sense to connect them both. Erwin saw himself in Armin in the sense of how he has plans for the future to search beyond the walls whereas erwin had lost this vision overtime. This is just my interpretation on why he raised his hand.
I remember when reading this in the manga years ago I was so upset when Erwin died since he was my favourite character. This episode opened up old wounds...
It was so sad to see how they were forced to choose between one of the two. Personally I think Erwin had the added value of leadership and experience (I agree with Levi's point of view), but if in the end Levi decided to save Armin it's because tought that he can also develop those qualities over time. I think the difference in the dream of both is what tipped the balance in favor of Armin, since Erwin's dream ends in discovering the secrets of Grisha Jaegar's basement, while Armin can aspire to achieve freedom, besides Levi didn't want Erwin to suffer anymore and he had already renounced his dream (if not it wouldn't make sense to have shown all those flashbacks). I don't care about the reasons that Bertolth and Reiner had to act so relentlessly, the fact is that they were the cause of a great massacre of innocent humans, who are also victims of the enclosure in the walls and fighting for their freedom. What the ancestors of the Reiss and the nobles have done has nothing to do with the people. That anger that Reiner and Zeke has escaped, fortunately Bertolth received the deserved punishment for his crime, I would say pure karma for the Marco's death, devoured before the eyes of his former comrades. RIP Commander Erwin, undoubtedly a great character.
he choose armin cause armin have planned when they reach the basement but erwin said he didnt know what to do next after they get to the basement i think thats why levi pick armin
I'm a big fan of attack on titan and I came to this channel after rewatching the new episode. Can't wait to see another reaction:)sending love from Japan!
Nice reaction : What Erwin said was the question he asked to his father in class which he refused to answer, he talked about it in part 1 of season 3. Rest in peace, Erwin the greatest commander of all time of the survey corps. Also Really felt bad for Bertholdt, An underrated & hated character. People saying he deserved it, this is just how war is and in the next episodes or season, we will know about their true intentions.
Episode after episode, this series proves itself to be a fantastic written story. There being no music throughout the whole episode, until Armin came back was done so well. I hope people paid attention in history class.
when i was watching while it was airing it was so intense resonated for a week i watched it for every day untill the next ep comes ,In this ep there no background music until armin comes (anybody knew)so that we can immense with the characters more it seems it worked for me so much for me
True both had dreams, Erwin was a great commander but a slave to proving his fathers point, much like Eren fighting for revenge. Armin dreams of the ocean and not vengence...but now that I think about it I wish Erwin was alive at this point.
I dont know so much english but i'll try to explain why Levi choose Armin and not Erwin for those people who think is not a good decision. People the first time you see the anime it is difficult to process everything but i've seen the serie 5 timen and every time you see it you get more things and concepts, and the reason why they don't revive Erwin is because the captain's objective is not was to save humanity, the main objective was to know the truth. That's why Captain Levi insists that he would do after discovering the truth, and Erwin responds "I don't know" when a commander's response should have been "to use the information to save humanity." Erwin was so fixated on his dream that it might have been possible that in achieving it his ambition would vanish and set aside the goal of saving humanity. While Armin would always go further, because he is empathetic, he sacrifices himself for people and would be willing to save humanity. On the other hand Erwin already abandons his dream when he throws himself towards the beast titan, and it must have been that he was somewhat attentive to the discussion about who to save. That is why, when Levi goes to inject him, he raises his arm away from the syringe and then says the words that started everything for him, ending his life just as he began the search for his dream. Asking the question, and raising his arm in class. And there Levi understood that it was the moment of his death. Have a good day if you have read this far.
ALL the Voice actors and actresses were phenomenal in this episode as people have pointed out. But two rather understated I feel was: 1) Reiner's tired and guttural voice - amazing. 2) Connie's single "see you later Armin" was SAD AF. It was only a small panel in the manga but that 2 seconds animation of Connie broke my heart.
In the manga chapter for this episode, the last panel/page, which showed Armin being pulled from his Titan (like shown in the episode), there was an ending caption that the Anime omitted. (SPOILER IN CASE THEY SHOW IT NEXT EPISODE, but I don't think they will!) . . . . . . . "The soul of the Survey Corps is passed down, which is what allows it to shine on." I think this changes the overall feel because it shows that despite Erwin's death, the essence and soul of the Survey Corps will continue on in Armin. It's like passing the torch onto the next generation sort of thing, which I thought helped to alleviate the pain of losing Erwin. I would have loved if this caption was included (and said by Erwin himself) for added effect for Armin becoming the Colossal Titan, but the Anime still did the manga justice extremely well.
Erwin didn't reject the serum, the reason he raised his arm was because he so out of it that he thought he was back in his Father's Classroom and raised his hand to ask a question. That's what happens in the Episode and it's been confirmed by "Isayama" himself. In the Attack on Titan Character Encyclopedia, in the QnA Section of the Book.
I gotta say your reaction videos are top notch. The video effects while you analyze and everything just made it really nice. Also I'd like to say that I think Armin was never in the equation in the decision for Levi. It was always about Erwin, Levi wasn't even considering Armin and the only reason he got the serum was because Levi chose Erwin he just didn't chose him for the serum, he chose for him to finally rest.
All i can say is: For those who suffered so much both in emotional and psychological aspects in this season, just wait and be save by how those other members of 104th training squad react in actually seeing "the sea". Imma 100% sure it'll be included in this season. I, just, hope imma rayt. :D
Kenny once told Levi that "Human has to put faith onto something to live on". This reminder from Levi's head changes his choice at the very last. Erwin had a dream, to see the basement and find the answers, and that is it. But Armin has a wider vision, to see the ocean and all the other wonders. That is how keeps him to move forward, to lead the people in future. Once Erwin acheives his dream, he might not even have that faith to lead people.
That side character want Erwin to live because he wants to see Erwin suffer meanwhile Eren want Armin to live because Armin have a better/bigger dream(beyond the wall) and Erwin practically already giving up on his dream
I think you guys don't get it see Kenny said you have to be drunk on something to keep moving like you need a dream that is beyond anything in sight -Erwin's dream is in sight, the basement and he even says in the last episode "I don't know what I would do after I know about the things in the basement(about people beyond the walls)" he even wants to know about it even while on the brink of death(he raises his hand up like a kid in class) it means he does not think beyond that -Armin's dream on the other hand is to see the ocean, the white desert and many more things beyond the walls this dream is beyond anything in sight which would keep him going everyday (drunk on something like Kenny said) So, Levi choosing Armin is a good choice I think
The reason Armin was choose is that him has dreams beyond the walls ( when he talked to EREN about the wonders outside the world) and Erwin his sole purpose was proof that the theory of his dad was right (outside the walls still exists humans) and after that he didn’t know what to do, like he said to Levi before he charged the beast Titan. Also every plan with Armin nobody dies, with Erwin many dies!! Now you get it, it was a hard choice but it was good made. Thank you guys you are awesome!!!!!
Seriously one of my best top moment of watching anime .. SUPERB SSSS Writing!!!!

Armin or Erwin, both great characters! I feel more sorry for Levi who always has to make the toughest choises, but no regrets!
Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who was sad when Bertholdt died...
I remember when reading this in the manga years ago I was so upset when Erwin died since he was my favourite character. This episode opened up old wounds...
“You need the devil to fight the devil” took the words right out of my mouth
RIP Commander Erwin, undoubtedly a great character.
tofu-are they brothers?
kimchi-nah...their hair colour is different
he choose armin cause armin have planned when they reach the basement but erwin said he didnt know what to do next after they get to the basement i think thats why levi pick armin
No other reactor quoted when eren said it's not him or Erwin that will save humanity its armin, that shit gave me goosebumps
Best reaction ever , that was amazing ! Keep being so natural and spontaneous !
I'm a big fan of attack on titan and I came to this channel after rewatching the new episode. Can't wait to see another reaction:)sending love from Japan!
Lol Jesus Christ calm down kimchi 😂
He's like " wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf " a whole dmn time 😂😂
Zalfanny Natha Laresa yeah 😂he be like that sometimes
anime of the decade we need this to be anime of the decade...
a convincing argument to save Armin over Erwin acc to Tofu:
"he has all his limbs"
Armin - 1
Erwin - 0
what's funny tho is that Erwin would recover his arm if he's turned into a titan xD
Wouldnt make much difference if the colossal titan is missing an arm tho lol
*SUSUME!!*
Armin- 1
Erwin- 1
Nice reaction : What Erwin said was the question he asked to his father in class which he refused to answer, he talked about it in part 1 of season 3.
Rest in peace, Erwin the greatest commander of all time of the survey corps.
Also Really felt bad for Bertholdt, An underrated & hated character. People saying he deserved it, this is just how war is and in the next episodes or season, we will know about their true intentions.
Their reactions are great, but watching tofu explain everything they just saw to kimchi is the best part of these videos
2:00 "THE JUICE!!!THE JUICE!!!" Kimchi 2019 XD
英語わからんけど、この人たちのリアクション好きだから見てしまう
Ahhhh i feel so sorry for Grisha Jeager rn 😂😂 everyone thinks hes evil rn.
The voice acting in this episode is on 🔥
Episode after episode, this series proves itself to be a fantastic written story. There being no music throughout the whole episode, until Armin came back was done so well. I hope people paid attention in history class.
Armin "is their next leader because he has all his limbs"😂😂😂
This episode literally made me cry I thought I will never see Armin again..
If you want to save them all..mikasa, armin and the others... carry out your mission.
I legit fell in love with Tofu this ep. love the attention
when i was watching while it was airing it was so intense resonated for a week i watched it for every day untill the next ep comes ,In this ep there no background music until armin comes (anybody knew)so that we can immense with the characters more it seems it worked for me so much for me
I was literally waiting all day for y’all to upload; y’all are the best; keep up the hard work!!
This was some Re:Zero episode 18-tier writing. One of my top episodes, easily.
True both had dreams, Erwin was a great commander but a slave to proving his fathers point, much like Eren fighting for revenge. Armin dreams of the ocean and not vengence...but now that I think about it I wish Erwin was alive at this point.
1:25 Tofu, a genius
I feel sad that people were sad thinking erwin was gonna get it coz he was a LEGEND.
"such great writing" .. in other words.. such a great manga
I love your channel and love to see your energy as you continue to do your episodes and love to see your smiles.
Have a good day if you have read this far.
well said 👏👏👏
When I read this chapter years ago I cried for fucking weeks. I loved Erwin and wanted him to continue living aagh. It pains me so much damn.
Tofu: are they brothers ❓
Me: 😦😧😲😲😲😳😱
Riener: gotcha marry her
@@i.o4766 maybe 😆🤣🤣
In the manga chapter for this episode, the last panel/page, which showed Armin being pulled from his Titan (like shown in the episode), there was an ending caption that the Anime omitted. (SPOILER IN CASE THEY SHOW IT NEXT EPISODE, but I don't think they will!)

Erwin: Moves hand
Kimchi: Literally figures out the whole episode
I gotta say your reaction videos are top notch. The video effects while you analyze and everything just made it really nice. Also I'd like to say that I think Armin was never in the equation in the decision for Levi. It was always about Erwin, Levi wasn't even considering Armin and the only reason he got the serum was because Levi chose Erwin he just didn't chose him for the serum, he chose for him to finally rest.
I like how Levi was "weak" but still knocked out Eren's teeth
and without breakfast
To be fair 99% of humans are weak compared to Mikasa. After all the fighting Levi was just a little tired, so Eren got to keep half his teeth.
All i can say is:
For those who suffered so much both in emotional and psychological aspects in this season, just wait and be save by how those other members of 104th training squad react in actually seeing "the sea".
Imma 100% sure it'll be included in this season. I, just, hope imma rayt. :D
めっちゃいい反応!
日本のアニメをここまで好きになってくれるって嬉しいなぁ
Watching Attack on Titan is just watching epic things unfold. You side with the story :)
Dang it from the way Zeke said he'll save Eren implies that there is a MUCH larger picture at hand that hasn't been revealed yet....
Erwin: looking at the past / Armin: looking at the future
すげぇ外国の人のリアクションを見れるのは面白いな
それな
That side character want Erwin to live because he wants to see Erwin suffer meanwhile Eren want Armin to live because Armin have a better/bigger dream(beyond the wall) and Erwin practically already giving up on his dream
Genius is, Isayama.
Tofu has that 200 IQ 💜
erwin:the fucking dream killed me
I think you guys don't get it
see Kenny said you have to be drunk on something to keep moving like you need a dream that is beyond anything in sight
-Erwin's dream is in sight, the basement and he even says in the last episode "I don't know what I would do after I know about the things in the basement(about people beyond the walls)" he even wants to know about it even while on the brink of death(he raises his hand up like a kid in class) it means he does not think beyond that
-Armin's dream on the other hand is to see the ocean, the white desert and many more things beyond the walls this dream is beyond anything in sight which would keep him going everyday (drunk on something like Kenny said)
So, Levi choosing Armin is a good choice I think
Omg, she's almost crying :,)
The reason Armin was choose is that him has dreams beyond the walls ( when he talked to EREN about the wonders outside the world) and Erwin his sole purpose was proof that the theory of his dad was right (outside the walls still exists humans) and after that he didn’t know what to do, like he said to Levi before he charged the beast Titan. Also every plan with Armin nobody dies, with Erwin many dies!! Now you get it, it was a hard choice but it was good made. Thank you guys you are awesome!!!!!
I believe this episodes sound board was done by Simon and Garfunkel.
For its being empowered by the "Sound of Silence".
