  • This is the Star Trek Fan Film that crosses into and beams aboard n iconic relic from the Star Wars Galaxy.
The USS Lexington is on a mapping mission just outside the Galactic Rim when they discover a floating, unidentifiable metallic object of unknown origin. Beaming it aboard disables power to the ships engines and the crew tries frantically to get the engines operational before they drift into the rim. A science team is trying to learn more about the 'Droid', it's origin and any data it may hold. The clock is ticking for the Lexington as it drifts dangerously close to the Galactic Rim. Will they survive in time and will this unknown 'droid' play an important part in their ultimate fate?

It is also contradictory to what else was stated. Namely, how they said that it originated from quote, "...the far side of the Andromeda galaxy." In fact, the Andromeda is our galaxy's closest neighbor and so close that it will eventually collide. Far, far away... not! And that R2D2 unit looks *_brand new_* despite the fact that it was supposedly drifting in space for approximately 12,000 years... How did it get there from the far side of Andromeda? Was it by traveling at lightspeed for 12,000 years?

From what I can gather from this fantastically done episode, the X-Wing was in a battle, not travelling in hyperspace or near the speed of light. 15,000 years of drifting? More like 6 million years perhaps, for some leeway for uncertain velocities and other gravitational assist.

Why was a commodore commanding a ship? Normally it would be a captain or officer of the watch (i.e. an officer with a rank below captain).
The sets, costumes, and effects were amazing. Although the droid didn't have battle scars.
The cross-over was intriguing and fun. Hopefully there's more after this story.
Sadly, the acting was frequently stilted and the dialog could have used a proper editor, e.g.
    - accessment ==> assessment (closed captions)
    - I've ran a complete scan ==> I've run _OR_ I ran

This is fantastic! :D Great work! My only nitpick - and I did the same for "In a Mirror Darkly" - is that starships didn't have their own unique badge. It was a one time mistake that Gene has to send a memo out to the production crew to make sure it didn't happen again. It's odd that Enterprise changed the Defiant badge from the Delta to whatever they used since in The Tholian Web you could see Defiant crewmen wearing uniforms with the Delta. It's a strange misconception, but I get why it's there. It's a kind of Mandela Effect. Lol
Anyway, that's a nitpick. I still adore In a Mirror Darkly and loved every second of this. :)

@@Warhammered Actually, my nitpick was not ignored on subsequent episodes. It's interesting that the link you provided goes to the Omega Glory, which is the sole episode that had starship personel wearing insignia other than the delta. Yes, there were flag officers on other starships that had other insignia, but those insignia were consistent of every other flag officer that wasn't serving on a starship. So, it had already been established several times that other starship personel wore the delta insignia. The Omega Glory was close to the end of the second season, so the standard was already set. After that one mistake, things just went back to normal, with the delta being for starship personel.
Here is a link to an article on this very subject from startrek.com themselves: ca.startrek.com/article/starfleet-insignia-explained
The crew of the Defiant in The Tholian Web wore the delta. They didn't have unique insignia. As I said, ENT made a boo boo and made a unique insignia for the Defiant when it was clear in the original TOS episode that the Defiant crew wore the delta insignia. Furthermore, the starship crew in Court Martial were from another starship and were wearing the delta.
The production staff in TOS were very particular and consistent about the variety of insignias in the Star Trek universe, which is why they made the memo in the first place.
And you seem to be confused as to whether GR said The Omega Glory goof up was a mistake or not. "GR did make that memo and said it was a mistake" Then you say a few sentences later, "So, that in itself contradicted even Gene's memo and he never said that was a mistake." I'm confused, but it was a mistake and was recognized by production staff as such. And to be clear, it wasn't GR that made the memo, it was Robert Justman, who was running the show. The memo was CC'd to DC Fontana, GR, John Lucas, and Gregg Peters. So, this was as official as it gets.
There are six Starfleet duty insignia used in TOS:
1.Starship Duty Insignia (Fleet personnel emblem)
2.Spacecraft Duty Insignia (Auxiliary Fleet/ 3.Merchant Marine personnel emblem)
3.Outpost Duty Insignia (Outpost and 5.Colony personnel emblem)
4.Cadet Duty Insignia (Starfleet Academy student emblem)
5.Starbase Duty Insignia (Headquarters, Space stations, Drydocks, and Ground installation personnel emblem)
6.Fleet Command Insignia (Senior field commander personnel emblem)
As for the fan theory that Starfleet adopted the Enterprise logo to honour the Enterprise is really cheesy and doesn't hold up to the evidence. In TMP, the Epsilon space station crew were wearing other insignia - likely new insignia for crew assigned to space stations. In any case, that theory is far from canon, whereas TOS is canon and it is clear that starship personel all wore the delta symbol (The Omega Glory being the one sole exception).

@Ronald Hill I don't need to watch TOS again. I've been watching it all my life. Jesus Christ. The Exeter was the ONLY starship with a different insignia because it was a production mistake. Commodore Decker's insignia in Doomsday Machine was because he was a flag officer in command of his own ship. We never got to see the other personnel on the Constellation, but if we had they would have been sporting the Delta. In The Ultimate Computer we had the Excalibur and it was being temporarily commanded by a Commodore (can't remember his name offhand...Tracey?). His insignia was identical to every other starbase officer we had seen in TOS. It wasn't a unique insignia. It was an insignia for starbase personnel. Watch Menagerie, Court Martial, and other episodes to see for yourself. Oh, speaking of Court Martial, we saw other starship personnel - not from the Enterprise - wearing the Delta. And you are being dumb on purpose by ignoring the fact that the Defiant crew had the Delta insignia on their uniforms?
Why are you being purposefully ignorant? This is bad faith. You tell me to watch TOS again, when it is you who is mistaken and refusing to just look at the evidence that's in plain sight.

@Ronald Hill Each ship never had its own insignia. That has always been a lame fan theory because people misunderstood the insignias in TOS. And it's not more interesting. Starfleet adopting the Delta because the Enterprise was so awesome is nothing but fanboy masturbation. Oh, and we've already seen the Kelvin and Discovery era ships use the Delta. That theory makes no sense. Give it up and accept the facts.

@Ronald Hill I was talking about the TOS episode,"The Ultimate Computer", specifically Commodore Wesley in command of the Lexington (not Excalibur). Like in Commodore Decker's situation, we don't get to see the rest of his crew in detail. We certainly don't see their insignias. However, Commodore Wesley is wearing the exact same insignia as every other star base personnel officer we see throughout TOS.

CBS restricts the stories to be no longer than 15 minutes and not more than 2 parts so our stories can only be 30 minutes total to tell our story. Granted, this story is on a much grander scale but I think we made the story entertaining eliminating any possible dead spots. Thanks for watching.
