My favorite car of all time. This car to this day is still my dream car.
I miss this era of TV, Cars and Top gear. The world felt like it had so much potential left in it and Tech was just starting to be what we know it as today. Somewhere around 2010-2012, it felt like the world changed so drastically, so fast. Cars are fast and so damn impressive, but they have lost a bit of their specialness compared to cars of the 90s and 2000s. particularly mid 2000s.

that really bothered me.
I think that it was doctored and he never did that speed - the way the needle moves look a bit fake!
Even with the LP670-4 and the Aventador SV out this still is my favourite car. This was the car I grew up with, the car that made me realize that cars didn't have to be slow, boring boxes you cram five people into. This was sort of a revelation, it introduced me to a whole new world filled with amazing machines! The LP640 truly has a special place in my heart - hope to see my childhood hero someday soon. :)

For me, it was actually back in 2006 when playing Need For Speed Carbon. That's when I first saw the LP640.

The story with the falcon:
The falcon is the fastest creature on earth (reach 320 km/h when going down to catch a prey).
320 km/h is around 207 mph, which is the top speed of the murcielago.
In 1962 the top speed of a Ford Falcon was 71 mph, also going downhill...So there!
Falcons have been known to exceed 220mph though

Countach gave definition to the term super car.

This was the Lamborghini that was around in my Teen years and I still absolutely love it. It still doesn’t seem like it’s been nearly a decade since the Murcielago went out of production.
It's pretty ironic that the manual murcilago's go for around double the price of the paddle shift ones considering it was a £6,250 option

I respectfully disagree about the sound. Aston Martin V12 sounds the best, especially the 7.3L V12 in One-77.

Used to be my favourite car, but I think the Huracan might even be more gorgeous. Lamborghini just keeps on making beautiful cars.
Omair Sheikh I cant say I agree with you on that one.. For some reason I just CAN NOT stand the Huracan's headlights or rear. However Lamborghini definetly makes some beautiful machines! (Especially the Asterion Concept! ;)

It has to be the Miura for me. Followed closely by the Aventador; even though I'm not a fan of the car.
Saying that, if I had the money to buy any Lamborghini today, it would have to be the LP670-4 SV. It comes with one of the best V12s ever made, a manual gear box, and an exterior that screams Lamborghini - the way a Lamborghini should look. And most likely will appreciate in price more than any of the recent bulls.
Opie only 6 units of LP670-4 were made. Rest were automatics.

This is better looking than the Hurancan and Aventador. Not over done like those cars. the murcuelago is a beautiful car.

Thank you for no huge spoilers and air intakes which doest stick out when not needed and 10 exhast pipes and many other things. Its 2019 and still looks elegent. You sir has created a timeless design.

This review of the Lamborghini Merchialogo was the first ever top gear content I ever watched. Ever since then I was hooked. I watched every video I could. The Ferrari Enzo, Mercedes Benz McLaren SLR, Porsche Carrara GT, the Bugatti Veyron race across Europe. Thank you Jeremy James and Richard for giving me so much happiness.
This was also the first episode I ever watched. Think it was like 2005-2006

I enjoy listening to Jeremy Clarkson's review. The car sound is just a bonus.
I first loved the Countach. Then I loved the Diablo.
Then I grew up/grew away.
Now my Lamborghini love has been quietly growing in the background for years.
In 2015 I rented a green Huracan for a half day. Its performance was insane. But it has a v10 and ‘regular’ doors. My work van has a v10 and regular doors. I didn’t love the Huracan.
In 2021 I rented an Aventador for a day. It’s performance was insane. And it had scissor doors and the v12.
I fell in love.
Lately I’ve been looking at used Lamborghinis because my business is doing well and I sold two investment house.
The Murcielago is calling me.

The good old days of top gear this is hands down the best Murcielago review and the car is in my favorite color for this model.
The wings the old V12 the tail lights the sound the scissor doors and the design. Everything is PERFECT.

Man these old Top Gear episodes had some really great choices of soundtrack. I mean, just in this clip I heard "Light My Way" by Audioslave, "Out of Control" from "The Chemical Brothers", what I think it was a song from NIN (probably one of their 2000's albums) and "Silverfuck" by "The Smashing Pumpkins".
The music choice was just right on the spot always.

Crazy that I come back to watch an old review of an old car many times, but this is one of TG's best.
amazing how the E gear option was + 6k back then ... if you got the manual and saved 6k .. youd be sitting pretty with a 1M car right now .
Lamborghini's E-Gear and Ferrari's F1 transmissions are why I ordered a new Porsche with a manual gearbox.

Imagine going back and telling Jeremy that in a little over a decade, a Dodge would lap the track close to 10 seconds faster than this and he'd be fired over food.
Honestly I don't care if its the slowest car in the world. It just looks epic, and brilliant.

Love the very clean styling. Its a call-back to the mid 70's Countach, before they added all the fender flares, spoilers, wings, scoops, etc.

I got one of these with a standard transmission salvage, and I’ll say this much: I reckon that whomever said “you can’t buy happiness” has never been behind the wheel of a Lamborghini.

When I was 4 me and my mom would go look at rc cars. When I saw this car on hot pursuit 2 and I found it very attractive. One day I jokingly asked her to buy it for me. She said yes and I thought holy crap I'm getting a murcilago!!!!! And I told all of my friends that I was getting this car. So I get into my moms car after school and I asked where this car is. She told me in the back seat. I thought why is a Lamborghini in the back seat of a GMC Yukon. So I look in the back of the car to see a rc Lamborghini gallardo. So that is what ruined my childhood. But on the bright side my mom owes me 300'000 bucks :)

Did anybody else notice around 1:05 Clarkson called it a hyper car? What's this 2002? Is it just me or is that insane? Has that term been around a lot longer than I thought or what? Cause I dont remember it coming about until shit like the Agera or however you spell it came out.
Murcielago, Slr, Carrera GT, Ferrari enzo and pagani zonda were hypercars in the mid 2000s. The agera wasn't even made yet.

Yesterday's Hypercar. If I wanted one of these I'd get the limited edition SuperVeloce. 5:27 for Cannonball Run II moment (both doors up waiting for the chase car to go by).
The Aventador looks better and goes harder, with essentially the same powerplant. Also the 'bat' just looks heavy but the Aventador looks nimble and eager.
Against all odds, this one has aged wonderfully.

I think the 207 readout was obtained on a dyno. Look how fast the needle climbs when it supposedly hits its top speed. Plus the dunsfold aerodrome runway is only about a mile long, whereas several would be needed to achieve its top speed.
Either that, or it was made on a computer, there’s almost no glare. If you’re inside of a car with windows, you would see the glare from the black screen area you would maybe see the camera or would be a lot more shaky than it was and I believe Jeremy wasn’t driving. It was a formula 3 driver named Aaron Scott.

it’s amazing how the definition of a hypercar has changed so drastically since this was filmed. now with cars like the Chiron, Agera RS, and Speedtail, the Murcielago seems seemingly ordinary in comparison.
It wasn't really a hyper car back in 2006 bro Clarkson was hyping it up performance to power.. Ratio.... U still had real hyper cars like the veyron, Enzo, f1, cc8s, zonda f, mc12 and even the Carrara gt that were all much more rare with more power and performance... The lp640 was probably the closest to a hyper car performance wise running a quarter mile in 11.3 seconds still my fave car all time
@@TheTonytone77 It was definitely a hypercar in terms of power and straight line performance. The LP640 has more horsepower than the Enzo, F1, Zonda F, MC12, Carrera GT and it has about the same as the CC8s which used a shitty modified ford engine. The only thing holding it back from that title is how much cheaper it was, but in reality it's still a rare car compared to modern Lambos; Only around 2,000 LP640 made.
The Veyron changed the game in terms of power, so it was incomparable to anything in existance upon release. That said, it's even heavier and handles worse than the LP640. It's interesting that Audi goes for power and AWD over low weight and RWD.
The Speedtail is just a modified 720s...It's the definition of oridinary; All Mclarens are. Every Mclaren is just variations of the same engine and chassis setup, with engines that they don't even make themselves. Eggs are cool, but they aren't far off from kit cars, they're quite unreliable.

Z6U6Z6U I suppose they wanted to show the bird because its a peregrine falcon which is faster than the actual car, they are known to do well over 200 mph in a dive
