This John Deere LX172 came in for a loud backfiring while starting issue. The customer already wanted me to replace the ignition coil since it was worn at the end, so I purchased an ignition coil and igniter set as well as replaced the spark plug. That seemed to do the trick!

Loud back fire I've got to replace the ignition switch on my craftsman gt tractor when you put.a.t.f in flat tires do you use a. Bottle with a tube on the bottle just like slime tire and tube repair liquid

I started by using a Slime bottle but now just use a funnel and a hose. I push down on the tire to let more air out and then take my foot off the tire so that it sucks the ATF in.

If I had to guess your igniter was the problem. I keep an extra one for my mower all the time.

I saw where it could be any part of the ignition system, but I think you're right.
