Agreed, it looks wonderful, as does the metal fencing. There's a lot Harry and I probably won't agree on yet I am happy he's happy with his fence and wall. As for this stewardship of the environment, I can't escape the feeling it's 'fiddling whilst Rome burns' - wildlife is continuing to crash, and we're all the poorer for it. Who would've thought sparrows would be on the endangered list 40 years ago?

Three point linkage that holds the rake on the back your tractor was one of the great safety innovations in farming and has been around for an amazing 70 odd years. Invented by the wonderful Harry Fergusson ,of tractor fame, this device is so simple yet stopped one of the deadly incidents of tractors flipping over when a heavy load was hung on the rear. Used still all around the world today it probably has saved the life of many farmers.

Harry, regarding the problem tree and your wall take a look at the work of an artist called Andy Goldsworthy and the stone wall he did at Storm King in New York USA. Using a rubble of stones from cleared fields he wove his wall through and around the mature trees at the edge of the field. Sort of like humans bending to nature instead of the other way around. A beautiful effect.

Nice to see the dry stone walls repaired, tidy work from a top tradesman, I often look at building work carpentry, masonry, plastering on old buildings hand made estate gates and walls even old laid hedges and pollarded trees and wonder when it was done and what the tradesman looked like who built it. The work left behind by long gone tradesman are memorials to them. You don’t have to be famous to leave your mark on the world.

Brexit and the tories(harry's chums) are causing UK farming to be destroyed, as per their economist Minford's predictions.

Grass meadows can be over seeded with wild flower, which requires low fertility in comparison to other crops and improves the taste of meat from such meadows. Other crop fields need tilting to the boundary to maintain national production and keep fertiliser rates down,
    Farmers choices understandably
    Are driven by grants,etc.
These comments being based on this type of Cotswold
    Land.

With the tree conflict with your lovely new wall; I'd stop short either side and build a nice rugged looking wooden post and rail fence maybe with a climbing step over or a little picnic covered morning tea area. It would look great under the tree. Or a little storage weather proof box for stuff you'd like left in the paddock. Nice farm.
