- May 2021 is turning out to be very different to May 2020 in that it's cold and wet, which is making a big difference to the crops. Then the results of the soil test are back and make fascinating reading.

There is something about the way Harry presents things that just makes it interesting. He could talk about anything and I’d be fascinated.
Great that he is a petrol head and so involved in farming and innovation within the climate debate.
Only Harry is "quite excited prices are high" 11:10 😲
Imagine him and James may talking about cars
Stop brown nosing, I found him first
This is certainly the “technical side of farming” but superbly presented by Harry so that even I can understand it all. Brilliant.
As agri lad I can say this channel is one of the best informed and accurate representation of farming problems and highlights and the agronomy information is brilliant it’s like being taught by my old soil science teacher at riseholme agricultural college Lincolnshire. Thanks Harry
How many tons of rapeseed would you say Harry's field will yield this year from the video?
@@visionist7 Ask Harry how much weedkiller he sprays on it to kill it prior to harvest - enjoy your Walkers crisps / butter etc - all containing weedkiller
@@native-american9049 haha I'm in Italy no walkers crisps here
@@visionist7 I'm jealous - Could do with that sunshine - Coldest sping for nearly 100 years here.
@@visionist7 not a lot depends how podding will go. And if any drops on floor with thunderstorms after desiccation.
When your neighbour wants straw ,you could do a muck for straw deal.He pays to bale and remove straw ,and then spreads boxmuck back on at his own cost.Works well for me.
We were a diary farm for 70 years, then switched to beef in 2000..
And we have noticed a drop in quality of our silage+hay over the years since switching to beef.. We put it down to 1 thing,,MUCK..
When we were in diary,, muck from the milk cows used to go over the entire acreage, TWICE... Now the muck/bedding from the beef cows just about covers the acres ONCE... We don't put fertiliser on, never have(just too damn expensive) When you dig down in the ground you can physically SEE the muck layers from many years ago, layer after layer,, Liked this video... 🚜💯🚜💯🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🚜🚜🚜
Onced again, Harry has got me checking the weather forecast for Oxfordshire more than my own county. Let's have that sunshine!
Looking forward to the soil sample video, fascinating stuff. Science and research FTW :)
The thumbnail has the 'ghost of Harry past' telling the present Harry about farming advice he should've taken. Woooo..
Ha! RUclips kindly created it for me. Now I’ve seen it and it’s been up a while, i think I’ll leave it as is.. 👍
Fascinating as ever Harry. Your wish for rain came true! Let’s hope you can conjure up the sunshine now!
Just a general Comment... You know a man's good company when he can hold your attention equally well with videos about carbon sequestration, soil analysis, rusty Jaaaaaaags, Dakar motorbikes, or alpacas.
More, please!
A happy Farmer .. what a wonderful sight .. :)
loving it Harry. More please.
Harry, I'm so pleased things are looking up for you. Your passion for your farm is a palpable thing. Looking forward to the next video.
Very informative Harry, another great video.
Brilliant content Harry, so informative and you talk with such passion about the crops
Excellent stuff Harry. Please keep them coming.
Thoroughly enjoying all your videos Harry. I’m putting you up there alongside James May’s Reassembler series and am looking forward to your in-depth episode on the carbon data. Thank you for taking the time to educate and entertain us.
Another excellent video. Although I was brought up on a farm and my father was a farm worker I've learned so much from your videos, thanks.
Awesome video. Sunshine coming by 1st week of June, look forward to seeing your crop dancing in the sun 2ft tall. Great video, great content and very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
A fascinating insight into how hard farming is, Thanks Harry
Well done Harry, another fascinating video. Really looking forward to the full results of your soil carbon tests. It gives the farming community real world information to share and maybe something NFU etc should have done years ago.
It would be great to have a video about the soil content. That's one of those things that gets me tioned but would be fascinating to have a better understanding of. Thanks again Harry.
Brilliant video once again, Harry. Very informative.
Considering the cold the crops look good especially the barley
Great video cheers Harry 👍🚜
Thanks Harry, I can't get enough of these videos :) Especially as I think I live not far from your farm.
Fascinating. Thanks for the post! 👍
Carbon and Nitrogen sequestration is a good topic. Did my University dissertation on this comparing a local farms ex arable land to re generated pasture, woodland etc. Plenty of students would happily do this work for you Harry!
Hello 'Harry', really interesting to watch and listen too, Regards, RichardA.
Great to see things are coming good on the farm.
Thanks Harry, great video
Great video Harry well done look forward to your next one
Excellent video Harry, so rich in information and you talk with great passion about the crops and all ag matters. Look forward to the soil sampling video with explanations on the OM or C - content of the rather different soils. Thanks🌱🍀🌦🌍👌
Enjoyed the video. I am looking forward to hearing more about your carbon in the soil.
I was just reading today about "silvopasture" and three farms in Devon going ahead with this type of grazing land. Could be an interesting experiment.
Such an unusual year so far Harry. Super cold but dry April and this wet spell that seems to be lasting forever. You'll be cursing the hailstones! This seems to be in for the next couple of weeks so it will be interesting to see how the crops adapt... great video.
Jolly interesting good too hear from you I always enjoy these vlogs thank you so much grazie ciao
Great update video!
Looking good Harry, fingers crossed.
Great informative video Harry.
You are the only man I could watch a video about Farming Harry, watched quite a few now, just out of an interest I never knew I had :D
Well done Harry ..fingers crossed for you.
Good luck Harry. We'll send you some sunshine from down under.
Good to hear some positive news for you Harry..l.I just hope it is the same for all farmers and that this year will be a bumper harvest. Your videos are fascinating...you should have a spot on BBC Countryfile along with Adam Henson.....Well done!😃😃😃😃
Harry is so good at explaining stuff i'm watching this channel for no reason lol Back to the cars i go ....
I started watching Harry’s Garage because I’m a petrolhead and Harry is a joy to watch. I’m now watching Harry’s Farm because I live in rural Kent and it’s Harry. I may even learn something about the countryside around me.
Thank you Harry!
Excellent as usual. Tells it like it is.
I invest for a large UK pension scheme. Great insights on this channel to understand the environmental impacts of UK farming and the carbon impact issues we will have to address! Keep em coming please Harry!
Great vid again
Can't wait for the in depth carbon report. 👍
Thank you for this amazing information.
Love these farm videos. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada, home of 55% of Canada's Canola production and we haven't had a decent rain since August 2020. Lots of sun, but we are desperate for rain now. It would be a real shame to not have a crop with the prices so high. Seeding is well ahead of average, but we better get a rain in the next two weeks.
Very interesting, thank you.
Great, well done. Fingers crossed for some shine.
Cheers Harry and team, I'm not a farmer, but as always, find this interesting a watch.
Excellent,great information.
Thank you, lovely vid..... OH YES hope the sunshine arrives.
Love your work.
Love your videos, even though I live in the countryside, the farming community do tend to be a bit insular, so it's great to learn more about the land around me. The NFU should pay you to be their educational spokesperson! Fingers crossed for the sun! ☀️
Under no other circumstances would I find the growth cycles of wheat anything approaching interesting and yet here I am, watching intently 😁
You'd make a good teacher, Harry 👍
He should do some lectures, in a pub of course 😃
@@stevetaylor7650 oh, if Harry's doing lectures I reckon it should be in the barn with all the toys 😁 - and a mobile bar, natch 😂
All those little technical details make it fascinating.
Great video again Harry! Pedantic point from me, flag leaf isn't the yield driver in barley. The stem leaf 2,3 and 4 each individually contribute more to yield in barley.
As I was driving on Sunday near Thame, I saw yellow fields of OSR and though” I wonder how Harry’s crop is. Harry, please keep educating us non farmers. 👍
most impressive presentation of factual information. well done Harry. new sub here
Harry enjoy your video's you explain everything perfectly all we need to do now is get you on country file people would learn what it's really about
Adam won't want to let go of 'his' cushy number!
Great vid as always.
An extremely interesting set of results I’m looking forward to hearing more about these. If possible can you discuss impact of the proposals which governments are proposing to bring in and where they fit into the local and global economy. Also where it fits into the environmental protection and policies.
Look out, behind you!!
Great stuff Harry. Fingers crossed for sunshine then?? You might just need a good harvest to help pay for the Lancia and the Jag👍
Every day's a school day for sure! Thanks...
These videos are awesome, and really interesting. I reckon there’s scope for a Harry’s watch collection video!
I was chuffed with that Master Class in horticulture and I hope those who make the rules for farmers to follow learnt something from it. So the land cattle graze on take's in more than the cattle produce, plus the cattle further improve the land with their droppings. Very similar to countries buying emission credits from non emission producing countries, yet do nothing abour reducing their own with fully researched schemes.
It's a long since I've heard Chuffed, to me it has such a warm sound to it.
you are completely correct, Harry's use of science to approach farming is very impressive. thanks for the invite over here. thank you for the kindness and support. really means a lot to me, thank you.
I learn something every time I watch
lovely stuff!
I enjoyed your video, Harry. Note that a single round of soil sampling will only provide a snapshot. Building up time series data would be able to provide you with a picture of what carbon is building up and what is diminishing.
Very interesting harry
10 outta 10 thumbnail Harry I love it
Thanks for the carbon data - I’ll look out for your dedicated video. Very interesting to see some real comparative figures.
very interesting, thank you
Good video Harry
Interesting stuff. Yeah unusual weather last two months. ...Fingers crossed for June & July.
cold this year... must be all the windmills and solar panels...brrrrrrrr
If you harvest the rocks Harry, put in a mini crusher at the farm, theirs a shortage of pipe bedding gravel at the minute 🤓 👌🏻😎
A whole Harry’s Farm about his soil test results?! This is going to be awesome!
Top man Harry!
Yes Harry!
You definitely learn something new every "farm video" Harry releases.
You don't learn he is actually poisoning you though
@@native-american9049 I just learnt that you’re not too bright.
@@mattsmith1157 spot on
@@mattsmith1157 ooh believe me I shine like a star Bro - Your education is very limited on modern day frankenstein farming techniques. Enjoy your daily dose of glysophate - shine on!
@@native-american9049 shine like a star in your own little universe. To the rest of the world your lack of knowledge is more like a black hole.
Very interesting. Ure barley looks good but is about 7-10 days behind mine coming out in ear which I find surprising as we are not that early here.
I hope ure osr yields OK.i have decided not to grow it this year as I was very disappointed with yield last year.
Have grow spring beans instead for the first time so it will be interesting to see how they go.
That OSR is remarkable considering where it was.
Great video Harry. Amazon should have given you the farming show instead of Clarkson.
what i find when you water your garden,, it just cant beat natural rain and natural cycle, the plant has its heart and rhythm .
I live in Vietnam no rain for months, then as now it pours for an for an hour once or twice a day. You can see the plants grow by the hour. Picked all the weeds from some block paving in the early morning, by 4pm others had taken their place and were 2" high.
I stopped pot planting and gone for slightly raised beds for flower displays, it's cut right down on watering, plus the plants grow and look much healthier.
Wet weather is keeping me from my allotment too. 😅
Great to see the OSR looking much better. After watching the previous video I noticed that OSR crops in North Yorkshire that I pass were looking much healthier. Made me wonder if the pests that were causing damage are more concentrated in your part of the country?
Top bloke harry 👍👍
Can you do a vid on the alpcas? So cute!
Would be very interesting to see soil testing with a depth of 1m as a comparison to this shallower test; might throw up some more interesting comparisons of arable vs permanent pasture.
Incredibly fascinating and well-presented. No other channel offers such well-reasoned insight into farming. Most other channels are either mind-numbing millennial nonsense or knuckle-draggers blathering on about their tractors.
Can’t believe the same fields what a change!
Brilliant OSR all things considered Harry, lovely to see! This thumbnail, tho looks rather ghostly I must say. ps we could use some rain in California at the moment, so if you could, would be appreciated 😁
All looking good. Should help cover some car restoration costs.👍
After getting the carbon results has this made you think about keeping the straw on the field and may be spreading the cow muck onto the field as well, I'm with you with regards to some sun and warmth I could do with it for my allotment. All the best Wayne.
Harry, I will be thoroughly disappointed if you don’t make an appearance on Jezza’s farm 😬🤞
