  • A profound talk that probes life’s core questions. Why are you? What do you believe and why? Do You have strategy to live out your beliefs? For most of us it is quite possible to move through an entire career without ever answering these questions. Stated or not, your beliefs drive you. What do you believe about work, family, money, God, etc.? What values follow your beliefs? Do you live in sync with your beliefs and values? Perhaps it’s time to hit the pause button - take time to assess what matters most to you, and re-engage with a strategy to live it. The results are powerful!
A pragmatic visionary, offering strong insights in strategy, leadership, people development and innovation. Founder & Managing Director of Chrysalis Consulting, Tim resides in Nanjing, China with his wife, Kristan, and two of their four children.

Best "TedTalk" I've seen and like that he didn't stick to their 'standard' format.

What he said: What do you believe? - e.g. does education give you happiness? He believed honoring his parents makes a happy life. The God question is the most basic question.
Why do you believe what you believe? Can you verbalise them, do you know what you believe? Ethics course making 20 papers: Euthonasia. Answer difficult questions: is there a just war? What makes a good marriage? When does life begin? Need to read varying opinions on each topic and land it and say what do I believe? It triggers really wanting to know the answers to these questions. I find myself still on this course today. My beliefs work and don’t work and calibrate them, with experience. These really are true.
What is your strategy to live out your beliefs? Applying and living my beliefs. His belief: Everyone is redeemable. Say sorry and correct.
I totally forgive you to almost kill me. Cheers of applause. I made many mistakes in my life and was forgiven many times. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a dramatic event to prove our beliefs are either in sync or not in sync with life.
His late wife in a note to a friend she didn’t send: I would do anything to have more of this guy's time. He said: God, if you ever give me another wife I will do differently. - He did and I have.
Many are afraid to talk about our beliefs not to offend others. We become belief starved. I call you back into the courtroom of truth: why are you alive, what do you believe, why and go live it. It is not too early and not too late.

this talk definitely deserves more attention it was completely brilliant especially when he shows the kid his family & shows him that all those people would've been so heart broken if anything were to have happened to him

Appreciate the encouragement! Yes, it was an incredibly powerful moment in the Chinese courtroom. I forgot to mention the judge's comment - "Mr. MacDonald, we've never seen an example of forgiveness in this courtroom". Where would any us of be without forgiveness?
